The staff at Ganahl are super helpful and un-intimidating for new-to-the-scene DIYers. If you have no idea what you need (other than the dimensions), definitely check them out before you head to a big box store. They even have regular hardware items and paint in addition to a great selection of lumber and MDF. Ganahl will rip down what you need, and will do up to 5 (I think) additional cuts, charging a nominal amount per cut. I drive a regular car and had to get help cutting down 2x4, 1x4, and plywood sheets to fit in the car. Protip: they offer delivery for items you don't want to cut, too. Happy Ganahl exists. I don't usually care much about customer service, but this experience was particularly harsh enough that I felt led to leave a review. My delivery window was 2:30-4:30pm. I had an unexpected emergency the day of and was going to be late with an ETA of 3:00pm to the delivery location. I felt terribly about being late and booked it to my new place as soon as I was able to at 2:30pm to try and get there before the delivery. At 2:40pm I got a call letting me know that they are here and asking where I was. I apologized profusely and said I was on my way, about 20 minutes out with an ETA 3:00pm. The man on the other end did not accept the apology (which is valid!) and called again about 10 minutes later asking "until how long am I supposed to wait for you." I apologized once again and gave my updated ETA of 9 minutes. When I arrived, I quickly parked and ran over to Viktor who was waiting at the end of the driveway. I apologized again, which he once again does not accept. I tried explaining the situation that I was in but quickly realized there was no point; he was pissed. We quickly unloaded the entire truck of forty 56lb bags in about 5 minutes. Viktor threw the bags at me, not being mindful of whether the bags were smashing my hands or if mulch was getting everywhere. My hands had cuts on them after he left. I take accountability that I was late, but the handling and interaction felt unprofessional and unpleasant. It made an already stressful day even worse.
