Wonderful business! The staff are fantastic with the children and understand the importance of the arts in the lives of children!

This is a premiere dance school run by a talented and inspired dancer. I have seen her work over…read morethe past 20 (30?) years. I know dancers who have learned from her and they all have been very happy and well-trained. Her performances that she creates have been nothing short of brilliant. Erin has a passion for her work. She is caring and involved with her school like no one else that I know. If you or your child is looking for a place to learn dance, I'd recommend this school. You will learn correctly - but on a good gradient - not too fast, not to slow - with the end being a wonderful dancer, to your best ability.

This review is based on our experience in Ms. Alexis' Primary A/B ballet class…read more Firstly, I want to give Ms. Alexis a 5 star rating on how well she works with young girls. She was able to magically sweep my 5-year-old daughter away into a fairytale land where she imagined all of her favorite things and learned proper ballet techniques, strengthened and stretched her body, and had fun dancing with her friends. She loved it so much, we wished it was more than once a week and didn't stop for summer break. Something I would like to see more of is the teaching of short dance routines after all of the typical exercises they do. One thing that many of the parents were dissatisfied with was how often there was a substitute teacher, and the general lack of communication there was regarding class schedules and offerings from the office. I hope this review will help you in deciding which program to put your child in, and will provide the school some insite into our experience. We're looking forward to returning for the upcoming fall session!

As a LONG time resident of La Canada, I've been to this auditorium for MANY things: Girl Scouts,…read moremusical performance, and plays. The wooden chairs aren't that bad to sit in. Of course the closer you sit to the stage, the better your view. The middle section is definitely my preference. The lobby area can get very crowded. During Girl Scout activities, we usually serve food outside towards the back where there are some tables with metal seats. We've even had food near the entrance/lobby area where there's shade from the heat. Parking can be challenging so we ALWAYS came early so that we could park in their lot. There is street parking, but even that can be challenging.

Came here yesterday for a dance performance and was shocked at how poorly this place has been…read moremaintained - as the reviewers below mentioned, there was a rancid scent of urine wafting through the walls (obvious it hasn't been cleaned in years). Secondly, the untidy bathroom (which doubles as a maintenance closet) had no sink, but a bathtub that splattered water all over the guests who dared to wash their hands. The plastic, bucket chairs were also incredibly uncomfortable, and the quality of the sound system reminded me of a boom box from the 90s. The cherry on top was the burly "property manager" hovering over the parking lot, red-faced and hurling insults indiscriminately to the incoming families. Coming here was a sad sight - this venue hasn't been properly maintained and it painstakingly shows. Book somewhere where your guests can leave feeling like their entire gamut of senses has not been assaulted.

Briga-DOOMED. If the absolute pinnacle of your theatrical…read moreexperiences have taken place on a Carnival Cruise ship, then you will feel right at home with the aggressive mediocrity of Brigadoon at The Pasadena Playhouse. I can tolerate that "Heather Hill" is rendered as a single, cheesy theatrical flat utterly devoid of perspective. I can even forgive the glaring budget constraints, keeping in mind that The Pasadena Playhouse seems to perpetually teeter on the brink of bankruptcy. But as a 40-year patron of this theater, what I cannot accept are the catastrophic casting choices. The roster is wrong on so many fundamental levels that the production's grasp of "Scottish authenticity" aligns more closely with a McDonald's drive-thru than actual Highland heritage. Speaking of which, was it strictly necessary to cast a Jeff Douglas who is two-and-a-half times the size of everyone else on stage? Was that a deliberate choice for cheap, cruise-ship-level sight gags? More importantly, in the entirety of Hollywood, are there truly no male leads who can actually sing and look like they possess even a drop of Scottish blood? If the entire premise relies on the magic of an ancient Scottish village, why bother with period costumes when the actors look entirely out of place? This massive visual disconnect instantly shatters any illusion and rips you right out of the story. Topping off this masterclass in poor choices were the grossly flubbed lines from the Widow Lundie actor--on opening night, no less. It leaves you seriously questioning whether the word "professionalism" is even in this theater's vocabulary anymore. I have seen some good performances at the Pasadena Playhouse. This one needs to vanish into the mist as quickly as possible.

Wicked Lit! Went…read morelast year for the first time and then twice this year to see both Production A (The Unnameable, the Chimes, and Cask of Amontillado) and Production B **new** (Casting the Runes, A Ghost Story, and The Body Snatcher). I brought a bunch of people with me to see Production A this year. It was amazing as always... Note to newcomers - if you are meeting people at the event, make sure that all members of your group receive the same color sticker on their program. You want to stay together in the same group. Also note that they have coffee, hot apple juice (which they insist on calling cider), and a few candy bars. $2 each or 2 items for $3. Bring cash, a jacket as you will be outside for a time, and comfortable shoes for walking and standing for short periods. The plays are immersive as you walk following the characters and story progression through the creepy and eeriliy lit long hallways of the mausoleum... and through the cemetery across the street. Most of the acting is great. Last night was unusual because they had BOTH productions going on at the same time. I was concerned that we would be running into each other in the corridors and we would lose the integrity of the individual plays with competing noise in the background. They actually handled it really well and there was only about 5 minutes when I was distracted by noise from another play. Production B was very good for the most part. I will not forget the images from Casting the Runes and The Body Snatcher. The Ghost Story however, started out GREAT but then the second half was kind of ridiculous. What annoyed me most was the fact that because it wasn't as long as the other plays and they all had to end at the same time, the guide read us "The Raven" as we walked back. Now, I take my Poe seriously and want it done right or not at all. This guy read it from the folder, lost his place a few times, used a voice that I assume was supposed to be funny (and wasn't). It just wasn't done well. If they HAD to fill up that time, (and I hope they read this review) they should have the poem read at the original site and read seriously by someone who can do it properly... by candlelight... with some thunder, rain, and lightning in the background. I was not only disappointed, but mad that it had been done so poorly. I could have read it better (and not from a folder). All in all, it's still a Halloween favorite and the location is fantastic and used well.
