You get what you pay for here. The venue is beautiful, the atmosphere and service are top notch as well. It's a secluded drive down a well-scaped parkway in the rich part of town. There's outdoor seating, with nice views of waterscapes, peacocks, and the vineyard. The food isn't meant for picky eaters. This is French cuisine, prepared the French way. This is not a place to go for haute cuisine. The food here is mediocre. I have never been blown away by anything I've eaten here. I've been been presented stale breads, overlooked fish, and bland coq au vin. That's not to say that the food is bad. It just doesn't stand out. What you do get out of La Caille is the feeling of being in a fairy tale. The grounds are beautiful and the restaurant is decorated brilliantly. This is the fun of coming here. If you are purely a foodie, skip this restaurant. For a good overall experience, give it a shot. read more

Not sure I've been to any restaurant quite like this, as it feels like a castle, is right next to the mountains, etc. I would give the atmosphere a 5 star rating, and the food a 4 star. You pay for what you get, and what you get here are the finest ingredients, and you get to eat in a castle. Of the area restaurants at this price range I've eaten at I'd put Silver in Park City at #1, Paris Bistro #2, and La Caille #3. read more

Food: Meh, at best. We went for brunch. The croissants were lovely and the "appetizer" that was brought out unexpectedly was tasty, but plated very poorly. A single teeny, tiny little meat pie on an empty plate 8 times its size? Our omelets were really just okay. I had the spinach and mushroom omelet which was grossly under stuffed. The hollandaise sauce was wonderful, which helped save the omelet from being sub-diner quality. The potatoes were so incredibly boring. Not crispy, not flavorful, pretty much just cubed potatoes. Even after I slathered them in hot sauce, they were boring. Coffee was diner quality coffee. I wish I could comment on the drinks or dessert, but by the time the drinks were delivered we had been sitting and waiting to see our server for 15 minutes. By then we were just ready for the check... which brings us to the service. Service: Wow. I mean, wow. So, we sat at the table and waited for about 10 minutes for water and to be greeted. I asked about a Mimosa, but it was 10 after 11a (our reservation was 11a, so see what I mean about waiting for 10 minutes?), so I was told, I'd have to wait till after 11:30. I have waited tables in Utah. And when this situation has come up in the past, I always offer to order the drink for the customer at that time, or offer to come back and check to see if they still want it. She did neither. I grabbed her after 11:30 and asked, again, for a Mimosa, and my mom ordered a Bloody Mary. It was at least 15 minutes before the drinks came. We never saw our server between when we asked for the drink and when the drinks came 15 minutes later. We were sitting at our table forks down, finished with our food, looking around, and no one came to ask if we'd like our plates cleared or boxed up, if we'd like dessert, more coffee, etc. Nothing. We saw the waitress when we ordered, when I grabbed her for a drink order, and after we told the person who came with the drinks that we just want the check. That's it. We were pretty clearly her only table outside, so we couldn't even flag her down when she was at a nearby table. Grounds/Ambiance: Outstanding. I mean, if it weren't for the grounds and the beautiful building and the peacocks, this would have been a 1 star review. It's really lovely. A truly unique experience in Utah. And the Valet parking only adds to it. Maybe dinner is good? Maybe lunch is? Would I give it another shot? Maybe. It certainly is pretty. read more

Me and a colleague hosted a dinner event for 20 people this past week on Oracle's behalf. They staff was attentive, patient, kind & flexible, including the valet parkers. Our clients ordered just about every appetizer, every salad and entree, plus dessert. We had the small private room upstairs- amazing grounds, setting, ambiance. Other Oracle colleagues utilize La Caille for client dinners & events. We will continue to patronize this place, they have been good to us. I highly recommend La Caille. read more

So disappointed. My family and I made reservation for Easter brunch and I must honestly say that I wasn't at all impressed. Having celebrated previous holidays at this restaurant I had nothing but great things to say about my experience in the past but not true for this time. The establishment seems to have become a little greedy as evident by the lack of selection and lack of quality. The $69 per person brunch didn't include coffee or orange juice, whose heard of that? You had to pay extra for the drinks. For this exuberant price the selection was very minimal, for starters no omelet or crepe station. The fresh fruit was okay but would quickly disappear and they were slow replacing it. Being a French restaurant at least one would think they would have a nice selection of cheeses.....wrong, just a small plate of little chunks of Brie and some other kind of cheese. Needless to say that the presentation left a lot to be desired. Then we move on to the seafood selection or lack of one, come on, fancy French restaurant and you can't afford King crab legs?? Let's just say that the seafood buffet at Wendover puts these guys to shame. Now the hot food selection : scrambled eggs?! Yes I said it scrambled, wow!! Bacon and sausage, little round crab cakes that fell apart before you had a chance to bring it to your plate, their version of eggs Benedict but without the creamy rich sauce that makes a true eggs Benedict, salmon which was a little dry, lamb without mint sauce, prime rib. Oh and for desert you had a whole selection of three items to choose from, once again wow! So, so, so not impressed. To make things even more pleasant the waiters and waitresses seemed to be in a rush as they whisked past you almost plowing you down. I'm not sure what this rush was about since we had to constantly ask for things several times before we got them. I was getting annoyed though because each time one of them passed my chair they would knock my purse off or kick my chair, really people! The icing on the cake was when I went to the bar to get change for valet and I could hear the bar tender or server complaining about how much money was being made on liquor and that he needed to get his fair share in tips or something to that effect, not cool nor very professional. The only reason I gave two stars instead of the very much deserved one star was the fact that they had an Easter Bunny walking around and had a candy table for the kiddos, that was cool and the kids loved it. Great atmosphere and fun experience. When we pulled up to this property, it felt like we were in a fairytale. The grounds were so immaculate and beautiful, and the restaurant looked like a little old castle. There were swans, bunnies, and peacocks roaming the grounds. Update time! I am fortunate to eat here more then most. My family and friends have celebrations here and we attend events. The new menu and chef has finally made the food comparable to the beauty of the grounds. They have actually released wine form the vineyards which can be tough with a young vine. Service ...has hiccups. Like the time the bartender on the main floor decided to add a few dollars to his tip. And valet is kinda pushy. First of all DO NOT EVER allow any type of limo to pull in knowing how the diameter is to turn in a circle is. I mean really we were waiting 15 minutes watching a Range Rover limo do a 485 point turn just to get out. I don't know what was more pathetic, the guy having to hire that car for his (cough) shortcomings or the 4 valet guys trying to direct him out. Uh if you guys thought before you let that in, you wouldn't have held up the valet to park. And then they inform you that they can take the tip in credit card if you don't have cash, haha, ok. Wow, as soon as we pulled into the drive the ducks and cobblestone drive started to charm me into good mood! The grounds are so beautiful! You feel like you are in a french castle/cottage. Very fancy and romantic. Take time to walk around before or after dinner. We called ahead and asked for Chateaubriand and the chef made it for some in our group. It was like buttah! Our waitress knew we had ordered it ahead when we got there and was very accommodating. First class service! It was a 4 course meal so plan on 2.5 hour plus for your dining experience. The scallop appetizer was amazing. Mushroom tart delicious. The rack of lamb was perfectly cooked and my sea bass was divine. Every side dish was cooked to perfection. Dessert was a treat--in our group we tried creme brulee, bread pudding, dark chocolate something or other and the apple tart tatin! The apple tart had an amazing apple cider sorbet, baked apple chip, vanilla bean ice cream and some crunchy bits that were lovely. Best finish to a meal! We wanted to like this place, but couldn't get over a few issues. First, we had a member of the wait staff bring things to our table that were meant for other tables. That happened four times and was getting annoying. Second, the food is not very good. I had the Sea Bass; it lacked flavor and I felt like the other items on the dish were a poor combination. We had four different deserts and the only one that was worth eating was the bananas foster. Do not, under any circumstance, get the pumpkin cheesecake. I understand that we're paying for the ambiance, but the food was just on par with a decent place in the city. I had an omelette with dry-aged bacon. The dry-aged bacon was the only good part about my meal. The service was slow. I understand that there's "pacing" when it comes to fine dining. But we had very little attention and ended up asking other servers to pass our requests on as to what was needed. In addition, I showed up 15 minutes before my reservation. Was asked to sit in the waiting room and was told that we'd be seated on time. It wasn't until 30 minutes after my reservation time did they seat us BUT ONLY after I stood in front of the host to remind her that she forgot about my party. We have been dining here since 1972 when it was known as Quail Run. Restaurant had new ownership in the last year or so. Overall we like the new menu but are very disappointed by the service which is inattentive and unprofessional. Our table experienced service by committee with four different servers and none of them taking ownership for the quality of service. In fact, the service was rather anonymous because the servers do not have their names on their name tags (only a number) and none of them bothered to introduce themselves. Wine service was horrible which is not uncommon in Utah restaurants. Hopefully management will address these issues. We will give them another chance but they will lose a long time customer if they don't address these issues. read more

How do we begin to explain the unending gratitude and emotions we have for the dream wedding we were blessed with? Two weeks before the wedding I pretty much had everything ready to go for our big day, and when I met with Rachael on the final details I was overwhelmed with excitement on how much everything was falling into place. Rachael, as always, was very prepared on the things I didn't even know to think about, and our final planning and lists for the wedding day went more smoothly than I imagined. When all of our family and wedding party arrived for rehearsal, there was no delay in where we needed to go and what we all needed to do. Rachael's obvious excitement helped in the already brewing anticipation for the wedding, and it was wonderful to have someone everyone could work with so easily. Prepping for what was to come the next day was a piece of cake, and all questions and concerns that came up last minute were answered quickly and with ease. She never ceases to amaze us with her extreme organization and attention to detail. Upon the bride's arrival to La Caille in the early afternoon, the bride's room was perfectly setup with fruits, snacks, and beverages. The staff was very attentive, and Rachael was wonderful in assuring everything was setup as planned for the ceremony and dinner reception. The dinner reception started promptly, and the setup of the Grand Pavilion was absolutely beautiful! The 3-course dinner was exquisite and we got so many compliments on how delicious it was! As the night came to a close, it was very reassuring to know all of our personal belongings, gifts, pictures, etc were all taken care of by the staff of La Caille. Their attention to us and what we needed was pristine, and we can't thank you enough for making our day without stress. This restaurant could have been great, and should have been with all the good things I had heard about it. Our food came out cold and raw, we were embarrassed that we both had complaints but for the price we were paying we had to send our food back. Unfortunately it came out of the kitchen cold once again. We ate in disappointment and still left them with a 20% gratituty even though our service was not as expected I watch the hostess sit a couple down next to me and ask them if they wanted they coats checked and our waitress explain to other tables the specials and it's description. Services we did not receive. All in all I think this restaurant could have been great and maybe our timing was just bad, but for the hundreds of dollars we spent I dont think we'll be able to chance it. read more

It has been years since I made my way up here. I remember it being super fancy dinner place. This time I came for a friend's wedding. And it was just a great experience all around. From just walking around and enjoying the grounds to the wedding service and dinner after. The staff were all super friendly and eager to help with anything they could. As we were all waiting for dinner to be served. They had the servers walking around with trays of appetizers. All which were great and had great presentations. For dinner we had the trout which I was super impressed with. I am usually not a trout guy because I feel it's to fishy tasting. But this was fantastic from the texture to the taste. And if you are a chocolate lover? Which I am not but the lava cake was super rich and tasty. Their homemade whip cream was great as well. I think I will make my way up here for Sunday brunch sometime soon. read more

La Caille has been a Mother's Day tradition of ours for 8 years now. It's no secret the prices are high but that defines the restaurant. The decor and ambiance is what sells this place. It's an old world Tuscan theme. The flowers are meticulously groomed and manicured to perfection. Picture ops everywhere inside and out. The food is mediocre maybe because for Mother's Day it's always pre made and you get what the house already distinguishes as the 3 or 4 corse for the brunch. Marc took great care of us and the food was delicious. Loved the French cuisine-wouldn't imagine I would find that in Utah. We had the escargo and the filet. The grounds have a beautiful path lined with cherry blossoms that your follow up to the restaurant. And lots of wildlife walk the grounds: peacocks, ducks, bunnies and chickens. I had such a wonderful birthday dinner here! Everything was spot on. The service, food, and ambiance were all amazing. The mushroom tartlet (1st), pear and venison salads (2nds),duck and scallop entrees(3rd), & banana foster dessert were bar none in flavor and preparation. My husband lived in France for two years and absolutely loved the food. It was really close to the food he feel in love with in Toulouse (Southern France). Their chefs deserve the prestige this place gets. Management was very personable when they stopped by to see how everything was. Bathrooms very nice.
