I visited La Buchetta on September 20, 2026, with my husband, daughter, and son-in-law, and our experience was truly memorable. Our party was served by Benji and Luciano, who each contributed something special to the evening. Benji was extremely knowledgeable about Italian wine, particularly the flavor profile of Chianti and what distinguishes an authentic Chianti Classico DOCG. His understanding of the Italian wine industry is impressive, and he is genuinely enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge. Luciano, meanwhile, is a server extraordinaire. He assumes nothing and instead takes the time to explain, with elegance and care, how each element of the meal is meant to be enjoyed. He gently poured olive oil onto a plate, added salt and pepper, and explained that we could dip their homemade focaccia into it. Although I was already familiar with this tradition, watching him present it was almost poetic. He then brought out our Bistecca alla Fiorentina with a side of sea salt and a small candle made from the steak's own fat. As the candle melted, he explained that we could drizzle the rendered fat over the steak and finish it with a sprinkling of sea salt. Divine! The steak was excellent, as was the salad with arugula, peaches, tomatoes, and burrata. We also absolutely LOVED the warm cheesecake for dessert. One particularly thoughtful moment came just after Luciano served our main course. Without our even asking, he offered to take a photograph of our family together. It was such a simple but genuinely kind gesture, and we appreciated it very much. The combination of excellent food, knowledgeable service, and Luciano's gracious attention to detail made our dinner at La Buchetta a wonderful experience and one we will remember fondly.
The food, service and drinks were all delicious here. We were lucky to walk in and get a table, but I would suggest getting a reservation if you can. It was very full. The asparagus was delicious, crisp and perfectly cooked. I got the Gnocchi Angeli e Demoni and was really happy I did. It was excellent. One interesting thing is that this was the only restaurant we ate it in Rome, Milan, Venice and Florence over two weeks that made you choose a tip at checkout.
This was the second place where we ate dinner in Florence, and on this particular night we were in the mood for lasagna. Unfortunately, I decided to visit Google and Yelp reviews, which are at the disposal and discrepancy of the American taste and appetite and not local tastebuds. This was my first attention to detail when arriving at a restaurant in Italy where it's obvious you're American, but unfortunate that they pair you along with other American's who enjoy ranch on salad dressing and don't understand virgin olive oil and red wine vinaigrette is what one tosses that salad with here. We were greeted amicably and the server only brought to our table bread and no olive oil. I had to request it. Surprised. The dining area was busy, and it felt as if this restaurant was ideal for friendly family gatherings. We weren't in the mood for wine, and here's where I learned that it's considered sacrilege drinking water and no wine with dinner here. I like wine, but don't need it at every meal. Plus, we don't drink a lot of alcohol. I also had been fighting a cold and wanted plenty of water. The waiter didn't seem to understand, but I digress. We began our meal with a wonderful salad, which had a salad mix of mangoes and cucumbers. I felt gratified with our choice, and believed that when we ordered lasagna it would be magnificent. Unfortunately, it was a bit charred at the ridges, a bit too long in the over I imagine. The taste was there, with a good marinara sauce, but it was honestly a tad dry. We didn't order desert, which again, the waiter seemed put off that we didn't order as we, husband and I, were both full.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Amazing service, the servers were so friendly. I was sent here on a recommendation from a coworker that the gnocchi was the best she's ever had, and she was not kidding!!!! Light, cheesy, flavorful - I am still daydreaming about it today. The wine was great and the dry aged beef was amazing. If I will go back to Florence, this is a must!
Another excellent spot we tried in Florence. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated immediately. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was Nugo. He was awesome and had us laughing the entire night. We peppered him with a lot of questions about the menu, he answered everything and also accommodated my father-in-law, who is GF. He had his own GF bread basket and was able to order almost anything on the menu. We ordered a nice bottle of Montepulciano red for the table that was $48. Others had the Hugo spritz. For app I had the anchovies with roasted red pepper, sea salt and oil over grilled crostini, very good. I skipped first course and ordered the ribeye steak for my main course. Bone in, medium rare, sprinkled with sea salt and a side of onion marmalade. The steak was very good and had way less fat than I expected. The waiter suggested a huge steak for the table, but I was the only one ordering steak that night. Maybe next time. Others ordered the fillet and it was cooked perfectly, the angels and demons gnocchi, and the veal scallopini. Everybody was pleased Really cool spot with a very good wine selection, drinks, excellent food and a fun atmosphere that you don't find at many places. Nugo was an A+ server.
Was here last year and loved everything about this restaurant. The food, the staff, the affogato that was made table side! It also had an adorable wine window! I can't wait to go back.
This review is for La Buchetta 2 since the wait at the original one was too long. But the menu is exactly the same! We were specifically looking for a restaurant that serves the Florentine steak, and this place truly met the expectation! The service was warm and efficient (although our waiter tends to upsell a bit). We had an amazing meal and a local wine that we got to taste before making a decision. Watching the steak being cut and sliced and dripping the fat over it was a sight in itself. Don't miss it!
Amazing Italian Tuscan restaurant. Our server Nicko was funny and attentive. We ordered Pici de "La Buchetta" homemade pasta, Spezzatino alla fiorentina beef stew, and mashed potatos. All were great, esp the pasta. The price was reasonable for the quality. The ambiance was one of intimacy and finery. I recommend.
Found this restaurant on Trip Advisor when I was at a bar nearby looking to see where I could grab dinner in the area. Off I went when I saw the good reviews. Luckily I was able to get in and got great service and recommendations. Had the Hugo and blood orange spritz's to go with the spezzatino (traditional Florentine beef stew with Rh potatoes). It was hearty and perfect for the day which happened to be raining off and on. Learned about wine windows in the process!
La Buchetta is a landmark steakhouse in Florence, and for good reason. Sure, there are plenty of tourists and foreign students that roll through every night (guilty as charged), but they still offer fantastic food experiences for the tourist and the local alike. We ate here twice during our stay in Florence. The experience was fantastic both nights, with different dining experiences: Night one was the steak experience, and it was simply one of the best meals of a two week trip in Nirthern Italy. Pasta courses that were amazing (truffle-y and cheese-y) preceded our for-the-table steak. The steak? Fantastic. Marbled the right way, grilled just enough to give us that Maillard boost. We cut all that we could find off of the bone, saucing it as was suggested- olive oil and salt, mixed on the plate, and that's it. It wasn't heavy, it was just enough, and it made for fantastic sobremesa before the tiramisu and limoncello. There are bigger cuts n the menu, some served with the tallow candle presentation (yum), and if there had been four of us, we may have gone that route. Night two, and the service staff says: "You had steak last night, so let's get you some light pasta and some nice salad." You're right, friend. Let's go that route, and leave feeling like we've been cared for, and still leave having enjoyed more truffle and cheese and seasonal goodness. And of course, I'll take that coffee and limoncello. This is a nice, local-feeling place for the out-of-towner to get the Florentine steak experience.
Our favorite meal in Florence. The restaurant is small and intimate and the service is phenomenal. The servers even told us about the history of the wine windows throughout the city. The Pici pasta is finished in a cheese wheel and is a must! We also ordered a steak and it was cooked perfectly. Great wine selection. Highly recommend!
I don't care how touristy it is to toss pasta in a cheese wheel, it is freaking delicious. That dish is a must. The lasagna was also delicious, but the cheese wheel pasta was the star. Our server was friendly and efficient, and the decor (at least in the 2nd location) was really cute for a date night or girls night.
This was a perfect place for a meal. Benji was our server and he was fabulous. Their pasta is out of this world. 10 out of 10! The building was quaint and adorable.

This has to be one of my favorite restaurants from our time in Italy. It was a night and experience to remember. I will say we contemplated getting the Florentine steak because we were trying to be budget conscious, but the experience was more than worth the price. They show you your cut of meat before and weigh it for you. I recommend sharing a pasta starter, getting the steak and then the cheesecake for dessert. You cannot go wrong with those three course as they are all unforgettable. read more

We visited the second location as we were early for dinner and did not have a reservation. It was a bit awkward as there was no one else there when we arrived and I rather felt we were interrupting a private staff meeting (they open at noon and we arrived around 6). The ravioli were amazing, the osso bucco very good, and the steak tartare great quality but less flavorful than I might have liked. There was something less welcoming than some of the other places we've been but the food is very good and absolutely worth an evening! read more

Trust me this place is the best. I'm a blue collar eater and the food was amazing. Best gnocchi I've ever eaten. Great wild boar pasta and aged steaks. Seriously you have to go. The gnocchi is sprinkled with angel dust. So so good read more

We went to La Buchetta about three weeks ago on our Italian vacation. Oh my gosh!! I can't stop thinking about how delicious it was, and honestly, a great experience all around. The food was AMAZING! Scrumptious! We shared some side dishes, pasta and the dry aged ribeye seen in the photo. I think it was aged something like 42 days. Needless to say, it melted on the palette. The pasta was cooked and finished table side by our server who swirled it around on the pecorino wheel until it was all cheesy and ready to serve. No matter how full you are, don't skip out on the cheesecake. read more
Food service and atmosphere was beyond my wildest expectations! We were tired of the fare on our cruise ship so my niece who had done a study abroad in Florence, recommended we try this restaurant in Florence. Reservations are recommended, if not required, and were easy to get via their online reservation system. My niece said she would've eaten here every day if she could've afforded it - but as a student....it was a an occasional splurge! I got the gnocchi per my sister's recommendation and truly....my mouth is watering now just thinking about it! I think it was called "Diablo" - it was so creamy, and cheesy, and the bacon on top was salty and crunchy....with just a tiny bit of "heat" from some pepper? If you're in Florence...JUST GO! Mangia! read more

Best restaurant we've experienced in Florence! The Florentine steak was excellent. We tried a few places and it was best here. It was perfectly dry-aged. Also the truffle pasta with table-side presentation was fun. The truffle was the best we've tasted in Florence. Fresh truffle.... Benjamin let us smell it before preparing the dish table side. The buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad was delicious and cheese was so soft! It was like ice cream. Hats off to Benjamin who was the best server and host. We dined there for nearly 3 hours and had the best time with him. read more

A must try! Ambiance is quaint and service impeccable. The true star of the show is the food. We had the Florentine steak., which was perfection and well as the Truffle spaghetti that was magic. All prepared table side. Truly a special experience. Come hungry. Worth every penny. Make a reservation or be there early. 7:30pm. Don't miss this one. read more
The gnocchi was fantastic; super busy place and small place. Restaurant is conveniently located near most of the tourist attractions and open earlier than most Italian restaurants for dinner service (I think 11am-midnight without closure). It is not likely that you will be able to just "walk in" during peak dinner hours (even 6pm) so make a reservation through your hotel concierge. Menu is only in Italian but they have an English menu online - they have free WiFi to use. read more

Great service... very accommodating. You tell them your issues they fix it. Bravo to the front of the house team. Also the back of the house executed very well with a small team in the kitchen. Came for the pasta on the cheese wheel serve table side, delicious and second pasta was also tasty. Will come for their aged beef next time. read more

Booked a reservation here based on the many strong reviews and it did not disappoint. Atmosphere was fun, the service was friendly, and the food was excellent. May be considered a "tourist trap" by some, but that doesn't take away from it being a great dining experience. All the food/wine we had was great, but the Florentine steak was truly exceptional. Book it with confidence. read more

The best meal we had in Florence. These guys were awesome with attentive, helpful service and really amazing food. Not touristy (even though it's in a central area) and seemed like mostly locals in this hole-in-the-wall spot. We basically ate all the food: - La Buchetta appetizer. Meat and cheese awesomeness including a pot of burrata. - Crostini and burrata. So good. Creamy and delicious. - Gnocchi angel and devil. Cheesy and bacony with a bit of spice. - Filet stroganoff. A great steak with mushrooms and onions on top. Super nice dinner, great food. Couldn't have been better. Thanks!! read more

I read reviews which convinced me to come here and I have to say.... Believe the reviews! This restaurant is to DIE for! We were served by Bajram who was so kind and a fantastic server. He was very informative about the dishes and provided great recommendations. The best two dishes my family had were the sage and shallot ravioli and the filet with blue cheese sauce and walnuts. Nearly brought us to tears....it was that good. read more

Five stars doesn't do this place justice. The staff is AMAZING. Service is incredible. They offer half portions of pasta which you will want to take advantage of to try the multiple amazing plates they have. Out of my limited days in Firenze I spent two in a row here, and I have 0 regrets. The waiters are well versed with wine and since I am trying to get into it, I appreciate it greatly. I can now say I like red wine! My favorite plate that I will obsess about possibly for the rest of my life is the pici special, including truffle and deliciousness prepared in front of you in a pecorino wheel. Amazing can't recommend this place enough if you are in this wonderful city thank you to the wonderful staff for the experience, I will definitely return whenever I'm back in florence read more

OMG, this place legit deserves its perfect Yelp score! Our family of 4 just had one of the best meals that we can remember for a long time! Since it was recommended to us at the last minute that we must try Florence steak, we had no idea what to order when we walked in. Our server Christian patiently explained the menu to us in perfect English. After a quick learning about our dietary restrictions & likes / dislikes, he recommended the gnocchi, the ravioli, and the bistecca alla fiorentina along with our pairing wines. Wow, every single dish is absolutely amazing and to our taste. The pairing wines brought out the flavors even more. Though the restaurant quickly became busy (totally can see why), Christian and the other servers always made sure we're being well taken care of. Such grand feast would've cost a fortune in the US and we'd happily pay for as the food & service are absolutely Michelin level, but instead their price is such a bargain. So grateful for this dining experience which made our Florence trip even more memorable. read more

This place is so so cute and the food is absolutely amazing. A bunch of us got the angels and devil gnocchi and it was seriously some of the best gnocchi I've ever had.
