We got the meat option. They open daily at 1PM for lunch and it's €1,00 for water if you need one. Take away only and no seating inside the pasta shop. A lot of people just ate near their store on the street... It's very close to the Spanish Steps so it's pretty easy to find. Right across from Pompi Tiramisu so you can get a dessert after the pasta. The noodles were chewy, great flavors and the pork crispy (looked like bacon than pancetta)... For 5 euros it's such a steal. I saw a bunch of local students swarming the outside of the store while chomping away at their pasta... it has to be good right? The store is clean, small and has big trash bins inside in case you're finished with your pasta and want to throw away the container... I ended up getting some dried pasta to bring home. Highly recommend checking them out. Hubby wasn't even hungry and still had more than half of MY pasta.

The line out the door caught our attention and the 4,50 euro sign for pasta was too affordable to pass up. Pastificio Guerra usually has two handmade pasta options for you to choose from. An option with meat and one vegetarian one. The menu was different on both days we went. The first day we came they had a bolognese meat one with a mushroom options. On the second day we came they had a gnocchi with red sauce and few meatballs. I think they had the same mushroom vegetarian one they had on the first day as well. We had the meat ones on each day and they were both good. A portion was a good size and filled us up. The pastas were flavorful and came out hot. They give it to you in a take out container with a spork to be eaten. No bags. They don't have seating inside or outside. It's more of a grab and go type of place and the line moves rather quick. They also sell their ready to be cooked pastas inside.

While I understand this is the european way, we ordered so much food and it took almost 20 min between dishes and probably over an hour for the first dish to hit the table. I feel like we were here for 3-4hrs and unfortunately having already started to feel a bit under the weather, I stayed out for too long and got very sick for the next few days. Regardless, the food was so delicious I wish I could go back. Thankful the group members were foodies and knew what to order deep fried beef tripe beef flank steak (special) - so tender wagon wheels with campidanese sauce - fan favorite, delicious pumpkin tatin, parmigiana fondue (special) - so yummy, could be wrong, but used a pumpkin that tasted identical to the japanese kabocha pumpkin - extremely sweet and dry/starchy bottle of wine bianchetto - paired so well with the food profiles sheep ricotta cheese, marinated eggplants (3) - so flavorful rigatone al amatriciana - pasta in italy... can't go wrong arancini (3) - a first for me and did not disappoint ordered 3 desserts with the group: chocolate mousse, pear cinnamon cake with ricotta cheese, gelato affogato - all so delicious, perfect sweetness, just the right portions

But we arrive at 1pm on the dot, in a quaint residential neighbourhood, just across the busy highway from Centocelle. Pro Loco Dol started out as a delicatessen on Via Domenico Panaroli about 8 years ago, with a specific aim in mind: to sell the best deli produce from all over the Lazio region. The shop developed a certain cachet for its exquisite cheeses and salamis, with top-class hams and other cold-cuts from the region making cynics sit up and re-evaluate Lazio produce. About two and a half years ago, they moved to bigger premises down the road, and added around 25 tables, introducing an imaginative menu which starts with cheeses and cold cuts, roams through wonderful hand-made pasta and thoughtful meat second courses, whilst also serving traditional and gourmet pizzas (pizzas only at night). We started with a selection of "Lazio rarities" to share, at €12. (The "ordinary" cheese and salami selection costs €8). 4 types of cheese and 4 hams / salamis, including prosciutto di Bassiano and a salami cured with orange peel. The cheeses, ranging from provola to a kind of gorgonzola, run from delicate to striking - superb. Then I order the ravioli filled with ricotta, tossed with fried artichokes in a carbonara sauce. It all comes together beautifully, and isn't overblown or filling - €12). My dining companion chooses the Dolpettone, house meatballs filled with cheese and served in a tomato sauce - €8). The €4 vegetable sides are a delight: white cabbage salad with apple and orange, and red Swiss chard fried with tomatoes. We share a "quartino" of wine (250 ml) and drink distilled water. We are offered miniature black cherry tarts on the house. Throughout the meal, we've been lucky: the restaurant hasn't been full, so the waiter has taken ample time to explain all the ingredients and answer all our questions about this marvellous place. The bill is a extremely reasonable €19 each. I'll be coming back one evening to try the pizzas - I only wish it was a little closer to home! What a treat.

Highlights of the meal included the house red (organic "biological" wine; whatever that means), pecorino and a pizza bianco with potatoes and rosemary (don't judge; just eat). The food is all sourced locally (a big deal as Rome isn't known for farming). Our party of four got out of there stuffed to the gills for 70€. The only thing I felt was missing were outdoor tables. I just love sitting outside. And I'm a smoker. Go here. Call ahead and make a reservation. Don't worry if your Italian isn't perfecto as the owner has a good grasp on English. The menu is completely in Italian and it's as authentic as it's going to get. Absolutely amazing.

Started with the fired mix, bruschetta and focaccia. The fried mix was like arancini. They had one with beef, rice and cheese and the other was a potato and cheese mix. Perfect fry and the cheese was perfectly melted throughout. The focaccia was wam and soft with no need for balsamic or olive oil since it was baked with the perfect amount of oil. Had the amatriciana for the main course. What a treat. The pasta was a perfect al dente and sauce had a great creamy texture with a right touch of heat. Guanciale added great flavor and the right amount of salt to the dish. Finally, "when in Rome" we had to share the tiramisu for dessert. Amazing, incredibly creamy and sweet, of course the crunch at the bottom was outstanding. Good meal and great start of the trip to Rome.

It costs extra and there was a lot. Good rosemary flavor. I got the Carbonara and my husband got spaghetti with meatballs. Both came served in metal pans - no plates. My carbonara has nice, thick, round noodles but the flavor was highly salty and to be honest, it was my worst meal in Rome. The spaghetti had a nice, fresh tasting sauce but my husband thought "he had better" meatballs which was surprising. The tiramisu was more creamy, like a pudding. I am glad we got to try the famous Nannarella, but next time we are in the neighborhood, I will try somewhere els
