Cute establishment! Definitely recommend making a reservation before you come especially if you have a big group. I was able to walk in and make a reservation for 2 and wait for about 1 hour. Recommend the pizzas here! It's a thin crust and use that hot chili oil on the pizza! Will come back again with friends and recommend.
We came here on a Saturday afternoon with no reservation and somehow there was a cancellation and we got seated right away. We saw that the callback list was pretty long and was happy that they sat us. The place is small and cozy. We got a pizza and a salad to share. The pizza was really good!
I had a lovely five star dining experience here with my husband for our anniversary. Rumor is that Taylor Swift ate here, but that's not why we tried it out. La Bicyclette showcases very high-quality French cuisine that is not too heavy and hosts guests in a light and airy environment, that is very comfortable and reminiscent of a home kitchen. While I forget the exact names of the dishes, the mushroom pizza was delicious and I would highly recommend it if you are a mushroom fan. We also had steak and a lobster tail pasta, which was delicious with the suggested wine pairings. Truly a lovely location for a special date or special celebration.
Rainy day, no reservation, and somehow we stumbled into one of the most delicious meals I've had in a long time. Everything about this place felt special. The food was truly chef's kiss..you can taste the care, quality ingredients, and love that goes into every dish. It's the kind of meal where you take a bite and just look at each other like, "Wow." Every plate felt thoughtfully prepared and full of flavor. The cozy atmosphere made it even better, especially on a super rainy day. It honestly felt like the perfect little escape, and now I'm wishing I could eat here every single day. My only wish? Craft cocktails! That would take the experience completely over the top. But even without them, the food absolutely speaks for itself. If you appreciate high-quality food made with serious TLC, this spot is a must-try. I'm already looking forward to going back.
We came around 2:45pm for a party of 3, but were told that they were closing the restaurant in 30 min, and we could only be seated if there were any cancellations. We decided to order to go. We ordered the Gnocchis Parisiens (entree) and the Champignons Wood-Oven Fired Pizza. It was ready in about 10 minutes. The pizza was yummy with the nice, soft crust, mushrooms, and the caramelized onion-truffle purée! The spinach gnocchi was so soft and pillowy. Both were so delicious!
I've eaten here a few times over the years with old friends, and coming back felt like stepping into a memory I didn't realize I missed. I thought, "Hey, I loved it before... let me try again." And wow--just like that, La Bicyclette reminded me why it's special. The gnocchi was absolutely amazing, rich and comforting in that way only they seem to get right. And the pepperoni pizza? Still as perfect as I remember... crispy, flavorful, and somehow even better than my last visit. What really hit me, though, was how the food brought back those old moments with old friends--but this time, it felt like the start of a new chapter. Same warm vibes, but with a little more appreciation and a lot more gratitude. The service was top-tier. The young lady at the host desk set the tone right away--friendly, polite, and genuinely welcoming. It's small gestures like that that make this spot feel like a place you can always come home to. I love this little restaurant. It's cozy, it's consistent, and it has that magic combination of great food and even better energy. Definitely a place I'll always return to.
Delicious spot! We gotta the Margarita and truffle mushroom pizza and the gnocchi. My favorite was the gnocchi, it came so perfectly soft paired with this delicious creamy sauce. The pizza was also great! The mushroom one was a bit heavy and creamy while the Margarita one was lighter. The wait was also 1 hour during an off time on a weekend. Came early, right when they opened because my daughter wanted the bread pudding but their dessert menu has changed since the last time we were here. We had pizzas and dessert and everything was excellent just like our past visits. We especially love their crust. This has become my youngest daughters favorite restaurant that she made sure to take her older siblings.
Would recommend getting a reservation. Walk ins are possible if they have cancellations but it's rare and you'll probably be waiting until their last reservations (around 8:45) no show before getting a call. We ended up going here for lunch and the ambience is cute. It's a bustling spot, the wood capped mushrooms were intensely savory with a side of olive and seed bread that paired well with it. The butter and hazelnut sides to the mushroom were nice to dip the bread in. We had their squash blossom pizza and were initially apprehensive about the anchovies, but it's a well balanced savory pizza with nice notes of peppery and green from the arugula. The wait staff were quite nice and it was a nice dining experience overall!
Lovely ratatouille french vibes especially seated in the side room. Rustic home feel was cozy and welcoming, friendly service! - gnocchi : smooth soft pillowy gnocchi in a scrumptious cream sauce, really wanted soak every bit of the sauce with the bread - arancini : a special of the day. perfectly crispy exterior and a hefty ball of an arancini! - ossobuco : a delightful surprise, the pork shank was tender and juicy, well cooked! Sat atop a bed of polenta and carrots - very comforting - mushroom pizza : loved the amount of hen of the wood mushrooms on this! Good crispy crust and bottom, nice garlicky paste as well
We attempted what we'd heard was the impossible: a Saturday night walk-in at La Bicyclette. Instead of being turned away, we were warmly offered a table an hour out--and given recommendations for nearby bars while we waited. We chose Terry's at Cypress Inn, just around the corner and, to our surprise, received a text within 30 minutes that our table was ready. We were seated in a slightly larger than closet sized, tiny room that was once their non-smoking section--perfect for us. It felt like a fairy-tale cottage meets teeny tiny clubhouse. Think Snow White's house, but with excellent food and wine. The atmosphere was calm, a welcome contrast to the Saturday night energy outside. Service was personable, professional, and attentive. For food, we tried their mushroom pizza with manchego and truffle (earthy), a full order of gnocchi (pillowy and creamy), and their risotto and prawn appetizer--which eats like a full entrée. Everything was beautifully prepared and satisfying. We enjoyed some nice red wine by the glass, but a pro tip: try the beer--it comes with complimentary farmhouse cheese. From the hospitality, to the ambiance and food, La Bicyclette lived up to their reputation. We enjoyed our experience, and hope to return.
Every time I'm in the area, I do everything I can to stop by. Monday night, I showed up by myself with no reservation and they were able to seat me right away, never felt so lucky. I really enjoy how the menu changes with the seasons -- and while I always order the gnocchi because I actually can't help myself -- the carrots were truly a delight. It was a dish made, basically, entirely of carrots but had such a wealth of flavors I almost picked up my plate and licked it. Sweet, sour, savory, a hint of bitterness. Not to mention the variety of textures, smooth puréed carrot, carrots you could sink your teeth into & the crunch of the garnish? Not going to reiterate how good the gnocchi is, I think everyone knows and has said how good it is. Just get it.
Still my favorite restaurant in Carmel By the Sea. The food quality and presentation is impeccable. I love the quirky decor and the feeling of being in France. The Beet salad was delicious as well as the pepperoni pizza. The warm olives had a bit of spice and sweetness. And the gnocchi is made from a recipe they had been in the family for thirty years. It's a must try! Breakfast is easy to just stroll into but lunch and dinner most certainly require a reservation. Bon appétit!

This place is our go to date spot in Carmel! From the ambiance to the French food, everything about this place feels like a trip to Europe. On our most recent visit we got the mushrooms drenched in garlic butter sauce. It was served very similarly to how escargot is, and was packed with amazing flavor! I also loved the gnocchi which was soft and pillowy while being filled with delicious cheese! Tip: If you don't have a reservation, be sure to line up around 10:40am if you want to be seated for lunch. (They serve breakfast in the morning, have a small window of time where you can then only order take out, then they seat for lunch at 11am.) They mentioned that they save a good percentage of spots for walk-ins, but given how popular this place is, it's best to reserve a spot. My bestfriend and I took a trip took a quick trip up the coast to this whimsical town, Carmel, Ca. And for lunch we decided to dine in at this amazing restaurant! In the corner of 7th Ave and Dolores St, La Bicyclette stands out from the rest with just the smell alone of oven baked pizza and some delectable sauce flowing out through their open shutters. A very cozy space but enough to order several plates to share! With limited seating there is a wait time but believe me when I say it was completely worth it ! As you make way through the town; there is a variety of stores and shops to look at and gain an appetite before your meal. This place exceeded any expectations if I had them! The service was great, the staff was extremely polite, even to the rude guest beside us. La Bicyclette will definitely be on my list of recommendations when visiting the coat of California read more

Comes with a couple pieces of fresh bread you can dip into creamy sauce Champignon (mushroom) $26 and Andrew Molera (artichoke) $25 pizzas - both good, nice thin crust. All pizzas were vegetarian except for one pepperoni, would have been nice to have more variety Tagliatelle ragu (daily special) $30ish? - good, quality pasta and sauce Very popular restaurant, reservations need to be made several days in advance, but you can also walk in. Did a walk in around 6 pm on a Monday for a party of 4 and was able to get seated in 20 mins. Nice ambiance. Not a big restaurant. Service was fine. Extensive drink menu. Prices are a bit on the higher end given the portion sizes, but it's expected for the area. Overall, great quality food read more

Such an incredibly cute restaurant in Carmel by the Sea! The staff were very welcoming when we dined there this past weekend. The food was incredible. We had the Parisian gnocchi and the Champignon wood fired pizza. The gnocchi was so soft and OMG rich in flavor -- cheesy, gooey... absolutely delicious! The pizza was thin crusted and cooked to perfection. The one thing that you have to add to either dish, if you can handle it, is the chili oil! You've got to try them with the chili oil to give it that extra zing and cut the oiliness and richness. Overall, great food and we'd come back in a heartbeat! read more

This ended up being my choice after long self-deliberation from all the restaurant choices for my first visit to Carmel by the Sea. Came for lunch during spring and definitely the right choice if eating just one meal in Carmel. Cute and bright restaurant with great service. Felt energized by the set up of the place and the excitement of hoping to taste something different and new. Gnocchi = absolutely the best item here for me. Such delicate texture and full of the savory parmesan flavors. I ate most of it while wife and kid were distracted by the pasta and pizza. Even used the crust from the pizza to shovel more of the sauce into my belly, lol. I've only had generic gnocchi before that were like chewy pasta, so never get it. But this thing was just melt in mouth texture, basically crumbles and dissolves in your mouth. Was prepared to and definitely made the right choice to order the full size of this. Worth the price, since doubt I can get this kind of gnocchi enjoyment elsewhere. Linguine Pescatore = excellent pasta sauce with great seafood flavor. Not overly creamy, more broth like for a rich depth of seafood flavor. Price maybe too high for this order, I let wife enjoy most of it since there wasn't much for me to pick off. Just pasta with broth was good enough for me. Pizza = nice chewy, very good quality pizza. Priced ok, good to feed kid while getting more crust to dip into the gnocchi sauce, lol!!! Budino = one of the main reasons I came here. And they were not serving or out of it this day!!! Was so sad... but later during the meal, Andrew said he checked in the back and found some in the fridge or something! He saved my meal to cement this as the right choice for Carmel by the Sea meal! Beautiful and dense and play of flavors in the mouth. Perfect end to the meal. Price is high for average joe like me to have lunch, but this was expected to be the priciest meal for the trip so I was prepared for it. We had a fantastic meal at this cozy French bistrot/Italian pizzeria on a busy Saturday night. Reservations are essential (via phone only-not online) and I got the sense people schedule out a few weeks if wishing to dine here-especially on a weekend. The atmosphere oozes French country and the somewhat limited menu featured predominantly French faire-except for the section of wood fired pizzas-definitely channeling Napoli and selected with an eye toward traditional. Service and food preparation was prompt-in fact we were surprised by the speed of the kitchen on a Saturday night. Our food arrived just minutes after the order was put in. We relished the steak au poive and the oh so fresh seasonal stone fruit salad. But as good as those dishes, the desserts rival your favorite Parisian patisserie. The light and buttery tarte de pomme was the best I've ever had and the hearty chocolate mousse (sized for 2-or more) was creamy and delicious. I was delighted to find a very large selection (20+) of half-bottles of fine wine. We loved the 2018 Bordeaux and a half bottle was the perfect about. I get the hype. The mushroom appetizer immersed in a tasty sauce emulating the experience of eating escargot was the highlight. The gnocchi was great as well. We came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and were really happy we could get a reservation. The food was absolutely delicious and our waiter was wonderful. It's a very cozy restaurant, nicely decorated and well kept. The girl behind the podium at the entrance was so sweet and cheerful when we arrived, however, the girl who guided us to our table was very standoffish. She really didn't say much to us at all but her overall energy the entire time we were there was not great. Other than that, we had a wonderful time. read more

Had a wonderful dinner at La Bicyclette. From the start to finish they could not have been more accommodating. We didn't have a reservation but they squeezed us in. When the wine I ordered was a little too sweet they allowed me to try another at no charge! The food was great. The highlight was the Mushrooms for sure! Do not sleep on the mushrooms! It saddens me to leave a three star rating, but here we are. We visited for lunch on 7-28-25. The hostess was aloof and couldn't bother to make eye contact before running back to the safety of her podium. Service was inattentive. The restaurant was busy, however any acknowledgment from the staff would have been appreciated. We were prepared to walk out when our server approached the table with water. Food was on point as expected with fresh flavors. Chef changes the menu frequently but it would be nice to keep Coq Au Vin on the menu as a standard item as this is a French bistro. Our server was very sweet and I don't fault her for my underwhelming review. First impressions matter and unless the front of the house improves, we will dine elsewhere. Quel dommage. read more

Service was amazing, small and quaint as most places in Carmel. Tried a variety of dishes along with a bottle of Italian red wine. Not one disappointing dish. Lunch with family visiting from east coast. We had reservations for 11am lunch and still had to stand in line 15 min with walk-in customers to be seated. I enjoyed the decor which reminded me of dining in a Paris Bistro. Gnocchi was pillowy delicate and fragrant. Stone fruit salad was a feast for eyes and palate. I think wins my favorite pizza of all time, **MUST GET** the champignons (mushroom) pizza It is absolutely amazing, so delicious, and so much umamiii --- assorted mushrooms, mozzarella, thyme, caramelized onion puree, truffle oil. If they added a side of hot honey too, I would die!! For starters, ordered the 1/2 dozen oysters -- the mignonette was tooo much on the oysters, it really overpowered them, I would advise to have this on the side. Especially since miyagi oysters are sweet and should speak for themselves! Also got the seafood pasta (linguine pescatore), comes with half a lobster I believe. Pasta was perfectly cooked el dente!! Portion is a little small and pricey, but great dish and flavor. The recommended white wine from our server was also really good. Affogato was delicious and a wonderful end to a wonderful dinner. Service was top notch, we had an older lady and I was really impressed (coming as a server myself). Very personable skills that somehow naturally made us feel at home and taken care of, and I think she was handling the whole section (wow!) Overall, amazing restaurant -- definitely a go to in Carmel! read more

Lovely little bistro with friendly service and excellent food. Staff is adept and handling a very busy restaurant with grace. Pizza's are outstanding. We typically have the mushroom pizza but opted for the Andrew Molera that featured artichoke hearts, garlic and goat cheese. Another winner. We also had the winter citrus salad topped with crispy filo dough strips. The ingredients are always fresh. We will return! read more

The gnocchi was so soft and pillow-y. It was my favorite dish from our weekend trip. We also got the mushroom pizza, osso bucco, and the creme brulee. Dined here with a friend last weekend and I am writing this review because I have been dreaming about the gnocchi! Spinach based and pillowy soft it was beautifully paired with the most delicious Parmesan sauce and bread to soak it all up. The cauliflower and pizza were also delicious but I would definitely come back for the gnocchi. Our server was Christian and he was attentive and informative about the menu. I would recommend making a reservation because while we were a walk in we only got our table by pure luck as a table had canceled as we were checking in. read more

Got so lucky! We got in at lunch without a reservation and on top of that were escorted to the little house within the restaurant for two! The bread was delicious! The escargot was so good and the pate! The chocolate moose was excellent! read more
Not sure why the pizzas here are so popular but it was ok. Nothing to write home about, and definitely not returning for it. But the appetizers at La bicyclette is definitely where it is at! The champignons provencale was **mwah** chef's kiss. I don't know how they do it, but the hazelnut garlic butter was amazing! The other stand out item was the pate board- the pate was wrapped in bacon and came with an assortment of mustard and jams. I would come back just for these two appetizers alone. read more

Cool interior, literally bike by the window, giving off ultimate beach vibes that made us feel very relaxed :) What we ordered: Salade d'Automne: awesome presentation. I'm always a bit skeptical with sweet salads, but the pear and pomegranate were not overpowering. The feta cheese was a nice touch, and I couldn't stop picking at it Margherita pizza: amazing when fresh out of the oven. The gnocchi is phenomenal. We get it every time we come here. I highly recommend making a reservation, otherwise be ready for a wait as this establishment is quite popular among locals and tourists alike! It's a really cozy space on the smaller side, but there are some cute touches like a table inside a mini cottage within the restaurant. Their pizzas are also decent. They have a good selection of european influenced foods and the pricing is not super cheap but very reasonable. We try to stop by every time we're in Carmel. read more

Make sure to book a reservation!! The hubby and I came by and they were super accommodating with our baby. Didn't make us feel like a burden like some places can when you have an infant. Anyways, the restaurant itself is tiny. We had the gnocci as an appetizer which you can also select as an entree and it was just delicious and smothered in a Parmesan sauce we dipped our crusty bread into. We shared the champignons pizza and the filet entree. The filet mignon was perfectly tender and delicious and was served with a refreshing salad and side of fries. Now, the Champignon pizza was overhyped in my opinion. No taste of truffle for me. And the mushrooms were various and hearty, only order if you're fond of mushrooms. Employees were super sweet. Yum! We ordered the gnocchi and sausage pizza. Amazing. 10/10 Our server was awesome + brought out a sweet chocolate treat for my boyfriends bday. The restaurant is super cozy, quaint, and intimate. Service was very attentive and we felt taken care of even as a walk in of 2 on a Friday night! Definitely go for the gnocchi and pizza. We really enjoyed our dinner here + will def be back when we find ourselves in the lovely Carmel area again. read more

Nope. No outdoor seating. Realistically, the only way they could be dog friendly is if Fido is allowed to sit at the table with you.
