I visited Calgary during the end of April and beginning of May. I stopped by this nail salon as I always do because out of 2 cities, [Vancouver and Calgary] I have not been able to find a place better then Lababie. They are fast service, the girls are so sweet and nice, they are reasonably priced and most of all they do an AMAZING JOB!! especially if you love nail art! They are the best for hand painted designs, sparkle tip, and just overall shaping of nails. i would say, take a chance and go because you will not regret it!! read more

I agree with Saundra, La Babie is a great nail salon. I'm lucky that I live just down the street. They always get me in quickly and always do a great job on my nails and feet. I find my polish lasts longer when I go there, and I also get waxing done when I'm there too. I've had experiences going to other salons where they take most of my already skimpy eyebrows off, but I've always been happy with the results at La Babie. Recommend. read more

This salon hit my radar during a recent business trip to Calgary. I often go to the Starbucks in the same strip mall for coffee meetings and tried a couple times to drop in for a pedi/mani. This place always seems to bustle with activity so I questioned the mixed rating review. So GLAD that I did and finally made an advance booking. The team was friendly and took great care to ensure that they meet my expectations and that I was pleased with the results. I'm super happy with my gel nails and my pedicure. Will be back! read more

Terrible customer service. If you are looking for a relaxing experience, this is not the place to go. You arent allowed to express how u want your nails- they get upset and start talking about you in a foreign language. They will move you from technician to technician and from table to table at their convenience. They also do a bad job cleaning up you nails after they have painted them. read more

This is my go-to nail salon. First, it's always easy to get a same day appointment. They also accept walk-ins but you have to wait. Some of the manucurists are better than others but they don't overcharge and their quick with little or no chit chat which covers all my criteria. There is parking but it can be a little hard to get a spot but you can usually find one on the street worst case. It's also in a great location and right next to a Starbucks. read more

They take the front parking leaving none for customers. I went there for years, but the last two times, it was a bad job and air pockets in a few nails. She argued with me. You can't argue with the customer that pays you. Also, they talked about me in another language complaining about how she didn't want to do what I asked with MY paid nails. I will never go again. I also have a nail fungus from the air bubble. Even for free, I wouldn't go there. Avoid it!! read more

Super impressed! Went for the first time today. I haven't found a nail salon that made me happy enough to be a loyal customer, but I will definitely come back here! Shellac pedi was $52, before tip, and included a leg scrub, comfy massage chair, and the largest selection of shellac colors I have ever seen. They had literally every color imaginable. My esthetician spent an hour on my pedi and scrubbed thoroughly, asked if it was ok before using a blade (no), and did a super job on the polish. I did not feel rushed, nor did I feel that he rushed, and enjoyed myself. Everything I want in a pedi! read more

The first couple of times I came here the experience was average. The last two times have been horrible. I got my fill done and the lady was extremely rough that my nails throbbed for a week and during that week all of my nails broke off (not even exaggerating) she also charged me double the price of what I've been paying for and what is on the board. I went in today to show them that my nails broke so early and that they still hurt. She grabbed my hand and tried to PICK what was left of my false nails. I pulled my hand back in pain and reminded her that they were extremely sore from her before. She rolled her eyes at me and then I discontinued the service with her. She was also going to make me pay full price for her mistake. This place is a joke. read more

Always get you in right away, decent selection of colours, great massages during the pedicure - this place is great. Not as cheap as I'm used to in the bigger cities - Toronto, Van - but the prices are slightly below average for Calgary. Overall a very nice and relaxing place to get your nails done. read more

Absolute worst nail salon experience of my life, I will never go back. I urge everyone to choose a different place to get their nails done for the following reasons; firstly she gouged my cuticle super deep as soon as I got there, it was bleeding profusely, dripping down my arm and onto the counter (which she didn't clean up the whole time) and her response to this was to give me a curt "oops" then squeeze rubbing alcohol directly onto the cut. Next I told her I wanted the shape to be between almond and stiletto (so pretty pointy but on the shorter side) as I'm watching her file my nails I have no idea what she's doing; she finishes and they're all oval. After phrasing it about six different ways she finally got that I wanted the tips sharper which prompted her to roll her eyes and say "that's not almond" uh yes it is. As she was refiling them she messes one of them up and has to take the whole nail off and start again from scratch! The whole time she kept forgetting about the open wound on my hand and would buff and file right over it (which hurt like a bitch) which caused it to rip open again bleed more, I barely even got an apology. Next was the colour fiasco, upon arrival I had chosen a lilac colour with a light pink for the accent nails, she paints the ring fingers first then when it's time to move on the lilac she discovers that it's dried up so she gets up grabs a totally different purple off of the shelf and just starts painting, I grabbed my hand back and asked if I could choose a different colour which prompted an explanation about how the lilac was old, which I already understood I just wanted to choose something totally different. So she throws the chip wheel at me and says "hurry up" now I was already at the point of trying not to scream or walk out before and that almost tipped me over the edge (she even pointed out how I was sweating, well yeah I'm trying really hard to not have a freak out) so I pick out my other colour, a grey, so she goes to retrieve it, she comes back starts to paint my nail and it's an orange colour?!? I ask about it and she replies "oh that colour was discontinued this one is the same number though" can somebody please explain to me how that makes sense. Yet again I ask to pick a different colour which got a similar response as the first time, finally I pick out a different grey and she finishes painting them. Once that was done she refiles my nails after the polish was already applied(?!) I almost asked to speak to the manager after it was all done but I just wanted to get the hell out of there so I settled up (it cost about $20 more than the usual place I go) this whole time I was perfectly polite and externally calm I even tipped her a little bit because as a server I know what it's like to rely on tips. I only went because this place had such good Yelp reviews, so I feel as if it's my duty to save anyone else considering this place it's worth 0 stars and as a veteran of acrylic nails I know when things aren't right. Love Love Love this place. Always clean and they can fit in walk-ins. The girls are always friendly. I have gotten two manis and one pedi all turned out great. The last time I went, one lady was so incredibly rude and insulted me in front of a full salon of customers. I almost left with my nails half done. I really like this place I always see Tracey and she does a great job! Only problem is the place is really dated for somewhere that's always busy and prob makes decent money they should really give it a face lift! Prices are very reasonable. The main reason I am giving it only 3 stars is nothing to do with the services you receive here but the staff speaking Vietnamese over my head is very annoying and makes me very uncomfortable. This place is hit or miss. I've had one girl that was super talented and amazing (i'll only go to her if I go back) and others that were mediocre. And then today a crap rushed pedicure, I think it was like 20 minutes in total. Nothing is worse than a crappy nail treatment. I just feel pissed off and there is nothing I can do. My feet looked better before I came in. Every toe nails is a different shape and ugly. I guess thats the gamble you take when you don't book with someone you know. read more

I went to la Babie nail and spa in mid July. A week after my skin from my feet was peeling off. A week after that my toe nail on my left big toe lifted from its nail bed. Now I am on medication as I had contracted a fungal infection from not properly sanitized equipment. All I can say is, be very very careful read more

I booked this place for my friend's birthday and I was really glad that I made an appointment - the place was packed! We both got shellac and mine turned out really nice. They were really durable and I was able to play through a number of softball games with out chipping. My friend was slightly disappointed with her's as the thickness on each nail was slightly different. read more

This place has terrible business practices. My friend and her sister and I went in to get our nails done. My friends sister asked for an ombré design on two nails on each hand. The first girl had no idea how to do it so they had a second girl finish and fix it. She was quoted $55 for her full set, just as I was. When they finally figured it out and were done and it came time for her to pay, they tried to charge her an extra $10 telling her the design was the reason. They never told her ahead of time that it would cost extra or she would never have gotten it. I had a hand painted design done on my nails that took twice the time and I was not charged extra. Then they tried to say she was charged more because her nail beds were large. You can fit two of her thumbnail beds into one of mine. There's no excuse and they wouldn't even acknowledge that they didn't inform her of the extra cost before they did it. There's no signs posted anywhere about extra costs for designs. We had to argue with them to do the right thing and charge her what they charged me as we basically had the exact same thing done. Very poorly run business and I will never go back. Terrible! Just terrible!!! I lived down the street from this salon a while back. Thought the place was rather run down, however the location was convenient and it was inexpensive. Nevertheless a few times my gel nails would turn into a raisin like texture (the nail color would completely wrinkle) immediately after applying. Which I found out later was the result of using old products. I still kept coming back despite the warning signs and foolishly took my Mother there for a mother/daughter pedicur. A couple weeks after the pedicure we both noticed we had contracted a terrible fungus! I have been struggling with this fungus for over four years now and have spent 1000's of dollars on pricey treatments, such as Penlac nail polish, prescription lotions & sprays, oral pills (these pills can seriously damage the liver and caused me to break out in crazy hives for months) and now finally laser therapy ($500 a pop) combined with using steralizing shoe inserts. I am now on my fourth laser treatment and I am noticing an improvement however I have at least two more treatments after this to be sure its actually killed the fungus. That will be $3000.00 on laser treatments alone - if I am lucky. Clearly their sterilization techniques are not up to code. I am lucky I never got hepatitis or HIV. I will make it my mission to stop anyone from going to this salon. I wouldn't wish this condition on my worst enemy! NEVER GO TO LA BABIE!!! read more

I wouldn't say this place is absolutely atrocious. But it REALLY depends on what nail tech you get. I got the older lady with the glasses and she was terrible. I honestly can not believe I paid nearly $40 for a pedicure that looks like a 5 year old did it. There was nail polish EVERYWHERE, and when I asked her to clean it off she gave me so much attitude. She also didn't put any effort in scrubbing my feet, or making sure that they were smooth. When I asked her to scrub them some more, she told me she couldn't because it would "hurt my feet". I had to ask her FOUR times to fix certain things with my pedicure. She was so careless that the extra skin on my feet was hanging off, when I asked her to cut it off she said she couldn't and instead just put lotion on my feet to hide the fact. I really shouldn't have paid for the service, considering it was done so terribly. The two girls that were sitting beside me got younger ladies, and their pedicures turned out fabulous. It REALLY REALLY depends on who you get. So it is definitely a gamble. read more

I hate everything about this place!! I do the same thing everytime but somehow the price is always different.. This specific lady is so mean and not professional at all!!! She did a shellac on my real nails an hour later my shellac is chipping off ???? Lol really i just spent 2hours at this nail place and when i get home after washing my hands once my nails are already ruined ... So i asked for a color on my toes too she said it was 12$, no problem . I asked if she can cut my toe nails cause they were long. The answer she gave me is priceless: she came to my ear and whispered they usually charge you 5$ but i will not charge you just put me a good tip .. What im sorry ?? This is 100% wrong you cant ask someone to tip you ( not that i never tip ) im a regular customer at this store!!! But this time is my last for sure !! Dont go there you better off find some others nail salons. Btw its really disrespectful for you to talk and scream in an other language when your customers are sitting right in front of you. read more
