I have passed this dessert and bubble tea shop more than a few times and while the advert at the entrance looks inviting, going up the stairs takes an extra effort. I am very glad, I did this time. The L2Lounge looks inviting with lots of seating places, looking quite comfortable. The seats are placed so that each group feels like their own private cubicle. Drawing display on the wall is contemporary and jazzy. I like when I see a place that looks to be bright, well maintained and clean. We had just finished our lunch somewhere else and now ordered one "crème molle" of mixed macha and taro as we are fond of both flavours. Instead of expecting the usual insolent remarks of many servers in that neighbourhood, being not entirely happy of ordering just one item, the question from the lady behind the counter was "do you want one spoon or two?" This is what I call customer service at its best. For this treatment alone, I will definitely come again and bring friends. This is going to be my favorite dessert place in this area. The ice-cream was just delicious, creamy and tasting all natural ingredients, with the price being very descent. I can't speak for the drinks, but I can say they have a nice selection of blind boxes including popular Labubu, to nommi, twinkle twinkle, crybaby, and more. I also appreciate that all of them also have a display so you can easily know how big they are and if they are a figurine or a keychain plush. We were pretty impressed by the variety if the menu here, especially with the variety of the smoothies. They also have a variety of sweet treats here, so we trued a pistachio macaron and really liked it. The prices here were pretty good compared to other bubble tea restaurants we like. We ordered a Hong Kong Milk Tea and loved it. The tea flavour was great and the tapioca had very nice texture. We also got the strawberry mango peach smoothie and it was amazing. The combination of fruits gave a really cool flavour but it still wasn't overly sweet. It was really cute the way the seal on top of our cups had a bunch of different circles with labels on them. L2 Lounge in Chinatown was the OG bubble tea place in Montreal. Like before bubble tea was cool, lol. This location has a special place in my heart because when I was living in Montreal I had a friend who liked all the things I liked and we would hang out at L2. We have since drifted apart after I left Montreal and our lives went in different directions, but I always think of her when I have a bubble tea at L2 ;) Anyway, I was back there recently and it's not too different from what I remembered it to be. They have a few more choices of drinks and toppings, and prices might have gone up a bit, but it's still the same. On my most recent visit I had a small Pina Colada ($4) with tapioca (additional $0.50). No added sugar. The drink was the right amount of sweetness. It was smooth and creamy with a strong pineapple and coconut flavour. The tapioca were soft and chewy, but not as numerous as I would have liked. There's free WiFi, the password is by the cash register. Service was polite and efficient. There's lots of seating, but the place is super popular so it fills up quickly and gets quite loud in there. It's full of teenagers and early 20-somethings, so I felt a bit old in there on my most recent visit, haha. Anyway, I like that L2 has actually seating because the other bubble tea places in Chinatown don't have any seating (Chatime, Presotea and Kabiga Thé). The place has a sign on the Main Street and a staircase leading to a different floor behind it. They actually bubble tea place is located on the 2nd floor of this building. And it's hidden gem. Came here to get boba in Chinatown while visiting Montreal on a trip and unfortunately found it very underwhelming. I ordered the oolong milk tea and it was basically just milk with a hint of sugar / tea taste. My parents had a matcha milk tea and it was too powdery tasting and sweet even after asking for less sugar. Unfortunately this was definitely not for me due to inconsistency in the drinks and usage of powder flavor. Those who are in the area looking for milk tea that uses real tea I'm sure another store would better fit your needs! We decided to check out L2 Lounge after having lunch in Chinatown. It's located on the second floor and overlooks the walking street, so it's nice to sit by the window and people watch if you don't get too cold sitting by windows (yep, I learned the hard way). They have a decently sized menu, complete with suggested drinks. The only problem was that not all of it is translated into English, so visitors like me are limited to ordering what is in English. I was impressed with all the toppings that are offered. In addition to boba, they offer toppings like grass jelly, coffee jelly pudding, fruit flavored popping boba and brown sugar balls. The drinks are a little powdery tasting, but they one ice cold in these really nice and big beer mugs, which is pretty cool. There is also a good menu, but I wasn't too impressed with the popcorn chicken or fried tofu. Both were a little bland. This lounge is definitely the place to be any night of the week. The teas and snacks here are great and the service is fast. You get to see the latest and greatest crazy Asian hairstyles and there are almost 100 different types of teas to choose from. My favorite are their shaken frothy teas, because many places do not have them. I love all of the different kinds, but still go back to the black milk shaken tea most often. When walking around Montreal Chinatown at night, look up on the upper floors to see which places would be the most fun to go to. You will quickly see that this teahouse is the busiest of all. After wandering around downtown Montreal / chinatown, we decided it was time for bubbletea. My friend brought me to this upstairs taiwanese lounge to try out their drinks. It's location is in Chinatown and surprisingly right across the street a Chatime has popped up! Talk about direct competition! You can set your levels of sugar and ice to your desire. Therefore. I was quite skeptical if something could top Chatime. Ladies and gentlemen, I have only tried one but I'm impressed so far. L2 Lounge occupies second place on my list of favourite bubble tea places in Montreal. It's a bit of a struggle between them, Magic Idea, and To Go Bubble Tea. I love the consistency of the bubbles here, they're just the right amount of chewy firmness. Not too tough, and not too amorphous, the perfect sweet spot that not a lot of places can hit. I always go for the Mint Chocolate milk tea (because there's no actual tea, and it's sweet of course). Like most of these flavours, you can sense the artifice pretty quickly, but it's still enjoyable. Friends who've tried real fruit flavours have reported good experiences here as well. Don't forget to pick up a loyalty punch card while you're here, after 8 teas you get a free small bubble tea, after the next 8 another small, and after the third 8 you get a large bubble tea. Really pleased with this little find! Once again, this was a Yelp find, and it was a winner. We were on the hunt for boba (or, bubble drinks, as they were called in Montreal), and neither of us had any real interest in taking a shot in the dark on something like this. Call me overly cautious, but I didn't want to chance some of the smaller shops the night before we were set to be on a plane for 5 hours. At any rate, we found this place because of Yelp, and climbed the stairs to the top floor. That floor has both this dessert lounge (on the left) and an interesting-looking massage place on the right. Heh. The restaurant is fairly large, with several tables and a small internet cafe, as well as a pastry case and the drink station. There were two girls working the counter the night we went, and thank goodness the girl taking our order had the patience of a saint. The menu was in French. We can't read or understand French, but we were giving it our best go. The girl asked what we were looking for, so I asked if she could make me a coconut-strawberry boba snow bubble. We had a brief discussion as to what, exactly, made a "snow bubble" before she told me she understood, and that they absolutely could do that for me. The hubs ordered the lychee snow bubble with boba. They used fresh fruit and whirred up the drinks in no time. They were fast and efficient, and the resulting drinks were delicious - about as good as anything I'd find back home. I've been there so many times haha Growing up in Montreal, this was the chilling spot. Today was cold outside. Surprisingly they served HOT BUBBLE TEA, oh yeah We went for the Hot oolong milk tea and Hot Jasmine milk tea. Both are incredible. I am a tea lover. Warm me up well. I also had a poutine lol *cough poutine week. Great place, Lively staff. They love what they do. The lounge is non-discriminatory, which is pretty cool. All kinds of people go from cosplayers to business man. Baby-foot table available, games, etc. Really nice place to have a good chat or fun with friends while enjoying bubble tea and snacks. Located in Chinatown. Nice place for me and my friend to get together first and then shop some Chinese Grocery nearby. The milk tea taste fresh and non-artificial. Wide choices of Taiwanese and Chinese snacks, with inexpensive price, and good for friends to share. I like winter-melon milk tea with savory&sweet milk foam to drink and popcorn chicken as snack.
