This Chatime looks more like a small kiosk. The young lady greeted me in a prompt manner and didn't take more than 5-6 minutes. The prices are reasonable compared to other places which are at time $13. I picked 50% sugar for both. You order then have to wait outside. I ordered a mango and brown sugar bubble tea since it was their special of the day. I am happy I did. The mango wasn't overly sweet and didn't have a fake flavour. The brown sugar tasted like hot tea with caramelized brown sugar. I think they use oolong which is a black tea. Both teas had warm and fresh boba. They were nice and chewy. Exactly how it should taste. I always bought my childhood snack Pretz and a Super Mario chocolate since it was esthetically cute to look at.

I had a craving for a smoothie and Chatime had them...many of the other Chinatown cold drink places only offered tea variations of their drinks. I wanted sometime with no tea. I saw the menu and it said smoothies...so I went in and asked for one of the ones on the menu. The guy at the counter said that if I did not want milk, they could use oat milk, which was perfect...also at the time of ordering he asked what level sugar I wanted...I said Low...so I went with the 30%. It was nice to be able to customize my smoothie that way. I was very happy and impressed. The strawberry slush was nice, frosty and very cold. It had a nice light strawberry taste and it arrived with a heat seal lid. I would get a smoothie again at this place. I loved the experience.

After dinner, I was wandering around Chinatown, checking things out and being a casual tourist. I found this Chatime and felt like it was a good time to get some tea. The bubble tea places in Chinatown tend to be small shops. There isn't a place for you to kick back and chill at a table, which is what you see in the GTA. You basically walk in, order, pay, get your order, and get out of there. I walked into the store and wanted to see whether it had the same products as the Chatime that I had recently visited in Mississauga. It doesn't have reusable Chatime straws here. Prices also seemed a bit higher on most drinks that I have had in the past. I ordered a large QQ peach tea, with tapioca and coconut jelly. I paid using a credit card and then waited patiently for my drink. Luckily, I had finished my large iced lemon tea from Restaurant Ethan. I waited for maybe five minutes and got my drink. I walked around drinking it as I headed back to my hotel. I loved how strong the peach flavour was in my drink. I made sure that I didn't inhale my tapioca and coconut jelly such that I went into a coughing fit. It was a proud moment of redemption for me. I'm glad that this drink comes with both toppings, so you get the best of both worlds. They worked nicely with the peach tea. It's a small Chatime, but it fuelled my bubble tea habit nicely. I'd come back again when I'm around. (322)

    Blah too sweet!

Inconsistency is a big Nono when it comes to franchise! How could 30% thai tea 0% ice (ordered through ubereat a) be less sweet 0% sugar and 0% ice? Unless they somehow dilute the Thai iced tea!?! I really wanted to give it 3 stars but just couldn't due to the inconsistency amongst all chatime! And it's only sugar level! Bring Coco or Sharetea to Montreal!!!

Great selection of flavors and the only bubble tea shop that accepts US credit cards!!! I must admit that the (blue) butterfly pea drinks are purely gimmicks. The taste is not unique but rather bland. I recommend the matcha with red bean, taro with pudding or any other milk tea. Ambience: not much to say, since it's a hole in the wall shop Service: polite & friendly

A Chatime location at Montreal Chinatown?! This is definitely a good addition in the area! At least I found most of the Chatime I had been to have a certain standard and I have yet experience a "bad" drink I have been to. This is for sure one of the smallest Chatime. Don't expect to sit in and enjoy some AC as there is only a takeout counter and nothing else. As usual, the order was Roasted Milk Tea with Grass Jelly less ice 30% sugar. The wait though a little long 15 minute+ but at least I don't have to go around and look for Bubble Tea Place for a cold drink. Sometimes Chain or Franchise is a pretty good idea if no other good reliable indie business around.

Tiny spot but they're very efficient.

Was walking along in Chinatown looking for a place to get some boba drinks. Stumbled upon this one because it had the longest line. So I assumed that since it had a long line its the best place to order. The strip has other places that offers boba drinks but sadly it looks pretty dead. Little on the pricey side but they're able to get away with the pricing due to lack of competitors around them. It's pretty awesome how the workers are able to work in this tiny little space. Literally only about 100sqft? IDK. Looked smaller than some restrooms!! Yet they were very efficient with dishing out all those drink orders on a timely manner. I've never been to a boba shop that ask how much ice or sugar you wish you add. I'm use to them just making it for you as is. I really like that they do ask because some boba drinks can tend to be so sweet. We ordered a couple of drinks and they are all very typical, they use all the artificial powder mixes... (ehh) However I did like my matcha tea with red beans with no ice and 30% sugar. But that was the only drink that I enjoyed. I'm more in awed with the tiny little space than their drinks, really.

Chatime Chinatown is an excellent and refreshing way to finish any night out! While the storefront is tiny (there is only space in the store for three standing customers at any time), the drinks at Chatime are absolutely delicious. I came to Chatime two times during my visit to Montreal, and both times I came my drinks were made perfectly and promptly. The first time I came, I ordered a matcha milk tea with red beans and boba. Unfortunately, when I tried to substitute out the red bean with boba for no extra cost, they informed me that it would cost 50 cents to add on the boba. If I am paying 50 cents for boba anyway, I guess there is no point in taking out the red bean. Thus, my drink came with both red beans and boba. Usually, boba shops let me sub ingredients out for free, but I guess this is not a practice at Chatime. Nonetheless, I greatly enjoyed the drink - the matcha flavor was extremely prominent (which believe it or not, is a rarity at boba shops - usually the matcha flavor is hidden by an overpowering sweetness!) and I could tell they sourced high quality matcha powder. The balance of matcha to dairy creamer was also perfect, and my drink was not too milky or cloying. The boba had a good consistency, chewy but not gummy. The red beans added an interesting soft and mushy texture into the mix, but also contributed a nice sweetness. The second time I came, I ordered an oolong milk tea with boba. The last time I had Chatime was in London, where I would always order their oolong milk tea, and it gradually became one of my favorite drinks to order in London. The oolong milk tea in Montreal did not disappoint! It is pretty rare to see North American boba shops serving oolong, and I was pleasantly surprised. A hearty, earthy, roast flavor, and the perfect amount of sweetener to balance out the bitterness of the oolong. I would recommend ordering all drinks with less ice and 30% sugar. Any more sugar may be a tad too sweet. Overall, a terrific place to grab boba. I wish they didn't charge extra for substituting out an ingredient / topping, but the drinks themselves are undeniably made well.

Did not find any excellent Boba spots during our trip to Montreal. Chatime in Montreal's Chinatown was the best spot we found. Just like Chinatown, this place is small. Open the door, and there is the counter for placing your order. No tables here. Service was on point. Drinks was fine. Boba tasted okay. Montreal is a large metropolitan city. There must be much finer options around. In Chinatown, though, Chatime is the place to go.

Oh boy, I am a huge fan of this place. I love the bubble tea here. It's also called as the boba. Made from the tapioca balls. I visited this place during my last visit to Montreal when I couldn't check in on Yelp because of the lack of Internet. But this time I did. I tried the sweet chai bubble tea with 2% milk. Oh my goodness, it's heaven in your mouth. I am a big fan of bubble tea, be it Argo tea, be it any other famous Filipino or Vietnamese tea shop. I cherish it. This small magnificent restaurant has its own well known reputation in the town. I heard its the local favorite and I do know why exactly because it is awesome. The prices are little bit high but it's worth it. I love coming here again and again. I recommend this place from bottom of my heart. I think you won't be disappointed by the taste. -SH

There is something about bubble tea for Asians. It's like Tim Horton's for much of the Canadian public. Or a good cappuccino for Italians. I can't stand Tim Hortons but do love a good boba tea it seems more and more these days. The joy of Chatime is that you can personalize the level of sweetness and ice level. For me my go to drink is the Chatime roasted milk tea w grass jelly 50% sugar and no ice! This location is newer and very small. So small you basically open the door and rotate your body in a 45 degree axis to navigate the space. If you are standing inside there is only space for 4-5 people max. Compared to the St Catherine W location I find their boba is not as creamy. This is what Chatime is known for. Could be they are working out the kinks as it's a new location. I'll keep coming back to see if it gets better. Still my fave boba tea place based on you can order as you prefer which really rocks! Many places put way too much sugar or powder which reminds me of my whey protein shakes when I was a skinny boy working out from my college days! Not here however! Check it out! Chatime is the Starbucks of Bubble tea!

I used to frequently get my bubble tea here, and one day saw a 2 inch cockroach skittering across their wall... I left and never went back.

The Short Version: Bubble tea kiosk inside this mini food…read morehall in Old Montreal. I was shocked that in this touristy area I was able to score a bubble tea for $3.99. It was good too. The Long Version: I love bubble tea and always endeavour to try new bubble tea places whether at home or on vacation. One Babo was founded in Montreal, QC. I only later learned (after my visit) that it used to be called One More Thé, which was famous for its fat and short cups. I had bubble tea at One More Thé when they had a location in Les Cours Mont-Royal and I enjoyed it. Anyway, the One Babo location I went to no longer uses short fat cups, but just regular cups and they are paper which is the trend these days. Great for the environment, so I support, but less photogenic for sure, lol. The straw was plastic so it pierced the lid easily and I didn't make a mess which I always do with paper straws. I ordered at the ordering kiosk and was surprised to see they had promotional drinks for only $3.99. Well, I was all over that. Haha. I looked at the different varieties and they had a dragon fruit tea with green tea popping boba, which is what I got. I wanted zero sugar and less ice but there wasn't an option to indicate this at the kiosk, but the staff member said I could let her know the modifications and she would make it accordingly. When you say no sugar here, it truly is no sugar! I have found that at most bubble tea shops their base tea is already somewhat sweet so even when I order no sugar, it's still sweet, but not here. The tea was completely unsweetened even a bit bitter. My bad, lol. The popping boba added a splash of sweetness, but in the future, knowing what I know now, I will get a quarter sweet. I still enjoyed the drink and it had a potent tea flavour which I liked. Service was pleasant and the staff pointed out to me that the print on the cup was an Old Montreal landscape since their location is in Old Montreal. What a nice touch. This location is inside a mini food hall called Le Coin Gourmand. Other businesses in the food hall are Hectare Cafe (a Carribean coffee shop), Mel'Oui (a sandwich shop) and Quan An (a Vietnamese restaurant). In addition to bubble tea, they also sell food. I'll need to return to try their food and check out the other businesses (my husband did get a coffee at Hectare Cafe while I was at One Babo, but I want to try their Haitian pastries). Oh and I'll gladly try another drink at One Babo. Hopefully they continue to have some at promotional prices, lol. Review #211 (2025)
