That said, it required a significant amount of effort and persistence to reach this outcome. **UPDATE to Hanlon's comment below (Sept 2025): Hanlon's comment is completely inaccurate. Dr. Leaks did not provide "multiple leak detection visits at no cost." I have invoices that clearly prove otherwise. The only complimentary service was the initial 2-hour visit, which I already mentioned in my original review. No true repairs have been completed--the leak has persisted since April, and we are still waiting on a report. Despite multiple follow-ups on our part, Dr. Leaks continues to repeat the same excuse: that our issue is "complex" due to the green roof and that they are "still working" on the report from the June 17th visit. At this stage, their repeated delays and lack of resolution are unacceptable. Dr. Leaks should reimburse us for the costs incurred and allow us to move forward with a qualified professional who can actually resolve the leak. ____________________________________________________________ Original review below: We've had a long and incredibly frustrating experience with Dr. Leaks. Our first interaction with them was back in September 2023 when they repaired a leak in our bedroom ceiling. Unfortunately, by April 2025, the same area began leaking again. We contacted them, and to their credit, they offered 2 hours of free leak detection and determined the source was not related to the original repair. However, after two leak detections and $3,237 spent, we are still without a report from the second visit (which took place on June 17th) and no clear solution to the ongoing leak. Even more concerning, we discovered upon returning from vacation that the leak was still active--despite them claiming to have completed a second repair. Thankfully, we haven't begun the cosmetic ceiling repair yet, but the fact that there has been a gaping hole in our son's bedroom ceiling for months, with no resolution and no urgency from the company, is unacceptable. We've repeatedly followed up via email (specifically to Hanlon and Josh), asking for a basic update or an estimated timeline, but all we've been told is to wait for a report and response from the owner, Mr. Alex Keating. To date, we've received no ETA, no report, and no reassurance. This has put us in a horrible position--waiting indefinitely with a still-leaking ceiling and the growing risk of mold, which is especially troubling in a child's bedroom. And yet we're made to feel like we're stuck: switching to another vendor means starting from scratch, but staying with Dr. Leaks means being left in limbo with poor communication. We truly hope to be able to update this review if things are ever resolved. But right now, others should be aware of the lack of accountability, the poor communication, and the stress this company has caused our family.

Since then, we've experienced multiple significant rainstorms without any leaks. The one positive aspect of our experience was the initial leak detection. Their inspection team identified the likely source of water entering our bedroom as the exterior door leading to a small roof. Dr. Leaks proposed replacing the outward-opening door with one that opened inward.  That confidence was immediately shaken when the installer arrived and informed us the proposed plan was impossible because a structural beam prevented an inward-opening door from functioning. After I called Dr. Leaks, they simply instructed the installer to replace it with another outward-opening door instead. Looking back, we should have canceled the project at that point. The installation process revealed another issue: Dr. Leaks bills its $260 hourly rate not only for labor but also for supply runs. During the two-day installation, the technician made four trips to Home Depot, costing us over $1,000 in billable time. When I complained, I was told the company was already aware customers had raised this concern and was "looking into" improving the policy. The biggest disappointment came after the installation. The installer assured us the new door would not leak, yet after a relatively light overnight rain, water entered our bedroom in the exact same location. A second technician inspected the work and found a large hole in the bottom of the newly installed door frame, confirming the installation had been done improperly. To Dr. Leaks' credit, they replaced the door again at no charge and also installed an awning they recommended. Unfortunately, the awning nearly detached during strong winds the very first night, with only tape preventing it from blowing away. They returned to reinstall it, again at no charge. Even after the second door installation and repaired awning, Dr. Leaks' own leak inspection found the door was still leaking. They proposed an additional $4,700 repair for a dormant vent they believed might also contribute to the leak. During these discussions, they also stated that it was impossible to fully guarantee a door in our location would never leak--something never disclosed before we spent thousands of dollars on the replacement. When we questioned why their own inspectors had found water intrusion at the very area they had been hired to repair, we were told their testing conditions were more severe than realistic rainfall. At that point, we lost confidence in Dr. Leaks and declined further work. A contractor recommended by a home renovation professional we knew quickly identified multiple defects in Dr. Leaks' installation. Simply stepping on the base of the door frame caused trapped rainwater from several days earlier to splash out, demonstrating the frame was retaining water instead of shedding it. They recommended removing the entire installation and starting over. Although we were hesitant to spend more money, we proceeded. Their replacement door has now been through three major rainstorms without leaking. They also resolved the dormant vent issue with a much simpler, far less expensive solution than the $4,700 proposal from Dr. Leaks. We have asked Dr. Leaks to refund the money we paid for the unsuccessful door work (excluding the leak detection service, which we found valuable). They have not responded.
