The food was good. The cheese pizza was incredible. Some of the salami had no flavor. The service was a little slow but the view was beautiful!!!

Great little hole in the wall with great wait staff- the friendliest we have encountered in Varenna so far. Excellent pizza and pasta. Very reasonably priced.

11/4/2013 It was raining on 1 of our days at Lake Como, and we were trying to find a place that was reasonably priced and close to our hotel. Given that it was already "off-season" and winter was upon on, most eateries on Varenna and other villages were closed. We came across this restaurant and decided to venture in, as someone told us it had decent food. Super cozy and warm inside. :) There's downstairs and upstairs seating available, but since there were barely any customers, everyone sat downstairs. We ordered: (1) Spaghetti ariabiatta - basic pasta sauce w/ tomato (2) Pizza Napoli - can't go wrong w/ pizza anywhere in Italy (3) Beer - my husband ordered this and drank half. Did it help that this restaurant was one of the few open in the winter? Yes. Was the food relatively good in cold weather? Yes. Would you have come here if other restaurant options were available? Prolly not. Customer service was friendly, although a bit slow...maybe that's just the lifestyle of Lake Como, slow and relaxing!

    Orso pasta with peroni pint

Great experience on the pricy side. (Everything on lake como is pricy) This place isn't far away from the train station and it sits right by the ferry to bellagio. For around 15 euros I got got the Orso Pasta with a pint of peroni. See my picture! The pasta was amazing, obviously fresh, with a good amount of sauce and meat. The portion was small for the price. However, they do give you a decent amount of bread and didn't seem to mind when we kept asking for more. With the bread, we left satisfied. The location is the reason that this place gets 4 stars. You can sit there forever eating bread or having a pint.

Went here for lunch both days we were in Varenna. Charming atmosphere. My father got the pasta with cream sauce and prosciutto. He hasn't stopped raving about it! I got the prosciutto and cheese toast one day and a "better panini" the second. I forgot the Italian name for it, but it was delicious. It is very thin pizza dough that is filled with cheese, prosciutto, and lettuce and then folded in half. Very light and refreshing. The peach juice also is incredible! The owners are a husband and wife team - kind people who also introduced us to their friend, Massimo, who took us sailing on Lake Como.

Beer is always good and always pairs with pizza

As others have said, this pub/pizzeria is right behind Hotel Olivedo. It's a beautiful with solid rock walls and old wooden beams that has been completely remodelled. It's an excellent value away from most of the tourists but a 1 minute walk from the Varenna marine terminal.

    Cold beer, warm hospitality.

The waiter kindly put a reservation for table at 8 PM on their outside patio. While we couldn't get a full view of the water, that atmosphere was so nice and everybody was generally very pleasant, which was relaxing. Their menu was vast and because we had so many choices, we ended up ordering so much off of the menu, including fries with ketchup, their soup of the day, (which was a zucchini cream soup), cocktails and mocktails, seafood pasta and monkfish, shrimp & scallop skewers. Safe to say, we are completely full by the time we left, but everything was delicious and I didn't regret anything we ordered.

The interior is just a beautiful space modern but still showing off the old stone walls. Plenty of tables but all of them separate and not stuffed together so you will have privacy. The wine list is extensive while the menu is a bit more concise. The food is locally sourced and all is home made. The bread basket is not an after thought but a an excellent blending of different breads and bread sticks. I wanted to try the risotto with fish filets but they only prepare for 2 so I asked our waitress for he favorite dish she l Pointed to the raviolis stuffed with rabbit. They were amazing the wife had a top notch pasta with mushrooms.foe desert tired of tiramisu we asked the waitress she led up to a wonderful tarte with lemon ricotta and blueberries . Wow!!
