Yummy Lunch in da Heights !!!
    Kelly J.

When visiting my mom in da Heights we noticed a New Mexican restaurant we had never tried - L Chingon here we come !!! Clean, friendly, and loved the old school black telephone We tried and shared the green salsa verde enchiladas and the tacos al pastor ! 100% yummy and authentic ! We will be back !!!

Regular nachos, Vegetarian quesadilla, and Tacos al pastor with tomatillo salsa and small sides of guac.

Actually a 4.5 - really pretty great. Small - two tables - restaurant with vividly colored chairs, tables, and walls that you might find in Mexico. Delivery also. The three of us had Regular Nachos, Vegetarian Quesadilla, and Tacos al Pastor. First off: the Tomatillo (green) Salsa is homemade and great. The nachos were slathered with all the usual suspects - cheese, black beans, tomatoes, onions, and sour cream - and each felt fresher than in most places. Dunno why but definitely not complaining. The Quesadilla was delicious and filling (had to take some home - oh, the horror!). The Al Pastor was perfect - pork not cooked to hardened nubs as it often is, and the pineapple to pork ratio was perfect. So, the owners are local and from Mexico and awfully nice, which is all well and good, but the reason to eat here or order from here is the food. Fresh, tasty, delicious. Our entrees were $11 - $12 and generous servings. We had lunch at 1pm, and now it's 7:30pm and I'm still not hungry - happily so.

We sat at the bar and ordered drinks. I wanted a Bourbon sour. I didn't get the gentleman's name but he went to the market and bought 2 limes to make my drink and it was outstanding. He said fresh ingredients are better than mixes and I agree! We ordered the large taco pizza to share. I cannot express just how delicious it was. Fresh ingredients were abundant on the thin, crispy crust. I wish I took a picture! Restroom was very clean and nicely decorated. I live out east in Suffolk County. This blows away Mama Lombardi's pizza and any other local pizza joints out here. Open a shop out here please!! Highly recommend

Rabbo had a nice acidic savory sweet flavor, not the typical latin tomato paste style. Definitely shareable for 2 for moderate eaters. Pizza: the small version looks like a personal pan but enough for 2, maybe 3. Now PRICE: Its tough because its about ingredients vs quantity. For 2 orders of meals may seem like borderline liitle over priced but post eating, i was content with how the pizza and entree had many ingredients. And my family of 3 was SUPER content. Definitely will go back for 2nd visit. Also try the Guava cheesecake if your into latin flavors, basic but hits the spot.

The young man taking our orders was super kind to us and made great iced lattes. My partner had the tres golpes and I had the cheese empanadas. Both were cooked perfectly! We saw the couple next to us order tostones that looked so good that it made us jealous, so we'll have to try those next time. Thanks for the great food and neighborly experience! Looking forward to coming back.

There was a cozy and welcoming ambiance to the place, with lovely natural lighting. I ordered a Pumpkin Spice Latte and Tres Golpe breakfast. The Latte was served in a clear glass cup with nice design on top. The coffee was smooth and creamy, but the Pumpkin Spice flavor didn't come through strongly enough. For the Tres Golpe, I requested Tostones instead of mashed plantains. The Tres Golpe also came with fried cheese, chorizo, as well as eggs any style, which I got fried over hard. It was a beautiful plate. Tostones were quite bland however and too thick for my liking. I added pieces of chorizo, egg, and cheese on top of them, which helped. The Chorizo was tender, juicy, and well seasoned, while the cheese was perfectly fried, slightly crisp, and full of great flavor. Eggs were also cooked just right. Service was good. I would love to return to try the Pan Seared Salmon, Steak Sandwich, and some other coffee drinks.
