Excellent activity! We went recently to the Paris Penthièvre location. The classes are in French, but they will translate the necessities in English and mostly it's obvious what is going on. They have all the ingredients measured and set out for you, along with all the utensils you will need, and all you have to do is watch the chef demonstrate at your table and then you do that part. We took a pastry (patisserie) class which was amazing. Two hours went by very quickly, and then you get to eat what you made (or take it home). We made Pate du Choux (which I think means pastry that puffs up to look like cute little cabbages), which we turned into three types of pastries. It was very well organized. The best part was watching and learning from the deft gestures of the chef. No, really the best part was eating the pastries. Great for teens. The cooking classes in French can often be booked at the last minute (as we did - same day!), and are cheaper and less touristy. Everyone at this particular location was so nice, very helpful and they all spoke a bit of English. Plus you can buy ingredients or utensils, which make good souvenirs or gifts. read more
