Some may say it's over hyped but to us it was so good and if you're in the area, definately worth a visit. We were visiting Nortre Dome when we decided to stop by. It was about a 15 minute walk and we arrived around 2pm. There was a line for both take out and sit down and we decided to go with take out as we were told it would be a ten minute wait. The staff are super coordinated and will take your order and payment while you're waiting in line so your food is ready when you get to the window. I got the falafel and my husband got the shawarma and both were fantastic. We got them both spicy which means it comes with a red hot sauce on top (see pic). There weren't any close places to plop down and enjoy the food so we walked and ate. Again highly recommend. You won't regret it. P.S. get the lemonade. read more

The servers are really cute and quick - despite the fact that this is the slipperiest floor I've ever walked on, so be careful! I haven't yet had the privilege of eating falafel in Israel, but I've tried all the major places in NYC (Taim, Maoz, Halal Guys, etc) and L'as du Falafel is pretty comparable. My mom and I split a platter and it was more than enough food. The falafel balls themselves were fab, but my favorite had to be the eggplant. My first time ever having Fallafel and I was lucky enough to try it from L'As du Fallafel! My roommate and I walked up to the door area and the guy asked if we wanted it for take out or to-go and showed us which line to get into. The cashier could tell that I definitely didn't speak French and I wasn't from around the area so he asked me where I was from and we chatted for a bit and I told him it was my first time here and he turns around and grabs a small sample cup and fills it with the homemade lemonade and says I have a surprise for you!! I was so shocked!! But I couldn't leave my friend hanging outside with no lemonade so I shamelessly asked him, "what about my friend?!" And he was soo nice and he turned around and filled up another small cup and handed it to me with a big smile. I walked out of the store with two cute small cups of lemonade and everyone waiting in line salivated as they stared at me. In terms of the food, I don't think I can give a good review because I'm a really picky eater so I wasn't really diggin' all the veggies. One of the best falafel places in Paris, hands down. You should know they layer their pitas so not all of the falafel is on top.

For 5€ à emporter, you can get a "plain" falafel pita - stuffed with purple and white cabbage, roasted eggplants, and large, hot falafels, all drizzled generously with white sauce (and sauce piment, if you're daring). I prefer it plain, and I've been able to get it once substituting the eggplant for the cabbage - mmmm, extremely delicious. :) Even without any substitutions, it's quite good (though you'd need a drink to wash it down). I've never eaten inside, so I can't speak for the dine-in experience. Why do that when you can leisurely walk over to the Hôtel de Ville and sit by the fountain? Or the Place des Vosges in the daylight? :) I also cannot speak to its relative yumminess; falafel restaurants abound (there's even one right across, how awkward :x) but I'm totally fine sticking with L'as du Fallafel. It may be overrun with tourists, but the service is fast and efficient. They also speak English, if you need it. The ones with meat (chicken and turkey or lamb) cost 7€, and they're pretty good, too. Who doesn't love a good falafel?! If you're in Paris and you like falafels, you must come here! I'd recommend dropping by for a quick lunch/dinner. When we arrived, the queue was about 20-25 people deep but we weren't standing in it for more than 10 minutes. They're extremely systematic about their queuing system which is great. They come to the back of the queue, take your order/payment, and direct you to the appropriate window. The portions are extremely generous, and each pita comes with cabbage, tomatoes, yogurt sauce, lots or falafel, and lots of egg plant. I thought the falafel was very tasty, but it was extremely salty. A little less salt and I would consider this a 5-star falafel. read more
