Had some amazing French restaurants while in Paris, but this cute, casual place has them beat. Still dreaming of L'As du Fallafel and their perfectly crispy falafels and creamy hummus. The portions are generous and I recommend sharing a plate or pita with someone because it's a lot! Great place to stop by after a day of shopping. No wait for our party of 8 despite the very limited seating (they gave us two tables of four) because it was 3pm in the afternoon.
Incredible Service, incredible food. The nicest men waited on us perfectly. Food is yummy and authentic. Had the falafel wrap. Ohhh so delicious.
Famous falafel spot in the Marais. There was a bit of a line right when they opened but they're efficient about it. We split the Falafel Signature sandwich and it's tasty. The Falafel balls were crispy and fresh. I loved the addition of roasted eggplants and the spicy sauce added a nice kick to the sandwich as well. Not the best I've ever had but a fun snack nonetheless.
VEGAN REVIEW My friend recommended this place vehemently & I was a little like... what's the big deal, it's falafel... YOU GUYS IT IS SO DELICIOUS The falafel is perfection, as are all the side dips, salads & breads. Dine in if you can, the menu is larger (plates & such) Service is SO FAST Lenny Kravitz loved this place, so you know it's good LOL
As someone who goes to Paris quite often, I am always on the hunt for some new places to eat at. I stumbled upon L'As du Fallafel, and this restaurant had some delicious dishes to try! It is a very busy spot, so finding a seat can be quite difficult. But the service is really fast and the servers are also very kind. Prices do differ if you want to dine in vs take out. Now on to the food, the falafel plate is delicious and with the portion sizes are big so can definitely be shareable! The sandwiches are very fresh, have great flavour and its just packed with so much ingredients! 9/10 recommend!
We made a stop here for a late night snack, I was excited to give them a try after seeing all the raving reviews. I decided to order the Falafel special, which comes with falafel, veggies, eggplant, tahini sauce, and hot sauce in a pita. The pita was packed with everything and I really liked the falafel, it was very tasty and cooked perfectly. The hot sauce also had that spicy kick that spicy lovers will enjoy. The tahini was just okay though, I felt like I had better tahini at other places in the states. Overall, the falafel pita was pretty good, but the tahini brought it down a little bit. Compared to other places I've been to in the states, I felt like the white sauce wasn't better. With that in mind, it's still a pretty good spot to get your falafel fix in.
I mean, yeah come on. The food is phenomenal. Not a long wait, great service and staff who keep the line moving. Very authentic and a great mix of textures and flavors. Tried the lamb shawarma and falafel pita. DELISH
Best Fulop and Paris highly recommend going to this place. We came here because my mom had been here in the past. It's an amazing blend of cultures. You see people from all over the country. All religions dining in one place just to have great food.. We had the falafel sandwich which was phenomenal crispy with the pain is from the pickles that was perfect. We also have a Shawarma plate that was immensely tasty a great amount of food. I particularly loved the cabbage salad. The staff is extremely friendly informative made you feel like you're at home. You can take the food to go or eat there. I highly recommend coming to this place. Whether you're in the neighborhood room for a destination to come if you're in the neighborhood or make it a destination for the incredible friend in the shopping in this neighborhood both vintage and otherwise it's truly outstanding. One of our favorite areas in all of. Paris.
While waking around the old Jewish quarter our local friend suggested we come here to get takeout and go eat in a nearby park. We were told they usually have a long line but it wasn't bad that day. We got a bunch of schawarmas and fries - all quite delicious and for Paris a 15 euro schawarma with juicy tasty meat is reasonable. They have seating inside but on a nice day the hidden gem of a park just a few steps to the right of it is a much more pleasant venue.
Not my first time dining here; it's a must do each time we are in Paris. Don't be dissuaded if you see a line at the door, it moves quickly. I adore their food and so does everyone else as it's always filled with locals! You may consider sharing a few things because portions are large.
The first time we came here, my family loved it. We came in the winter and it was the perfect hot meal and the falafel was super crispy. Now, two years later, we came back and felt that it was alright. There are always lines but it goes relatively quick. The falafel is probably the best falafel we've ever tried, but the shawarma in a pita was ok and the rest of the veggies and sauces in the falafel were not the best we've ever had (best meat in pita we've had is Falafel Stop in northern california).
By far the best falafel in the world (and yes I've had a lot of falafel in the US and internationally including Egypt). Absolutely incredible. Quick service even if you are waiting in line to sit down (wait is usually 20 minutes or less). The guy writing your name down is hilarious and fun. If you don't want to sit down there is a to go line that is quick. The restaurant itself is like a fast food seating with basic chairs and tables that is semi clean. Service is definitely very quick. The food is absolutely amazing. The hot sauce is fantastic. The veggies are fresh. I could eat this everyday. I'm so sad it's in Paris and would love for it to be in the USA It is a must go otherwise you didn't do Paris right! Scrap the Michelin stars and go here
Falafel in Paris? Definitely!! I know it sounds strange to go to Paris and eat falafel, but L'As du Falafel is one of our favorites. Found it years ago when my husband always wanted to eat falafel sandwiches when we travelled. This one tastes like you are on the Tayelet in Tel Aviv, not the Old Jewish Quarter in Le Marais. So nice to stroll in this trendy area with its cobblestone streets, historic synagogues and quirky boutiques and then grab a table for a falafel plate or pita. The falafel is so good. Just like the family restaurant that my husband's parents used to own. Crispy on the outside. Delicious and moist on the inside. Could have easily split the falafel plate. 10 falafel balls on a plate of hummus, tahini, green cabbage salad, purple cabbage salad, Israeli salad with fresh tomatoes and cucumbers and a tomato based dip. Pita included. So yummy!! My hubby had....a falafel pita sandwich and fries. Added a freshly squeezed carrot orange juice. So refreshing. Ask for a large complimentary glass bottle of tap water. Inside and outside dining available. In a rush to get back to the Olympics? Take your order to go. Love falafel? Add this to your list of restaurants in Paris. If you are like our family, you'll be back.
The hype is strong with L'As du Falafel, but for once it's justified. Supposedly, Lenny Kravitz is a fan and I can see why. I was fortunate on my visit that there was no wait to be seated, but there was a pretty long line for takeout. (Takeout people, be aware that less than a block down the street is a nice garden tucked away in a historic courtyard with benches where you can eat) The interior is pure madness - it's packed with people and tables and it's LOUD. The menu is small as it should be - pretty much you want schwarma or falafels. In this visit I opted for schwarma - a sandwich is less than €9 and arrives pretty much instantly. The giant soft pita is stuffed FULL of delicious things - crunchy cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers, roasted eggplant, hummus, garlicky sauce and of course, a mound of tasty schwarma. It's a party of textures and flavors for your food hole. Add a little of the hot sauce that's on the table and you are L-I-V-I-N-G! Flavor wise, it's a great break from the sometimes heavy and rich traditional French cuisine. And it's cheap! (If you live in the States, this place is what Halal Guys wishes it was but falls far short. Because Halal Guys suck. Go ahead, fight me) read more
Known as the best place for falafel in Paris, but I would say the other food is great as well. While the falafel didn't blow me away, maybe I should have tried it in a sandwich (what they seem to be known for)? Instead, since we were sitting down inside to eat, we got the falafel balls, shawarma platter, mixed meats platter, shakshuka, and grilled eggplant with tahini. Everything was pretty good and they seem to always be busy and have a line around the corner. I would come back, but maybe not if it's too long of a wait. read more

I've heard great things about this restaurant, and my travelling companion said she adored it last time she was in Paris, so I decided to give it a go! The service was very quick, and the staff was kind, but my my was the place busy. Certainly not a place to go for a relaxing meal in peace and quiet! But the atmosphere, however crowded and loud, wasn't bad. I really liked the decorations etc! Everything was just very crammed together, but I understand that it's probably just because the place is so popular! As for the food, I feel bad because I didn't particularly enjoy it. However, I'm a picky eater, and I hadn't had falafel before, so perhaps it was just a bit too far out of my comfort zone. Nothing tasted bad necessarily, it just wasn't something I was used to. So if you have a taste for falafel, I'm sure you'll enjoy it! read more
What a big let down.......:( After researching and planning what to eat in Paris, L'As du Fallafel was recommended by so many friends, yelpers and googlers, that I was looking forward to this. One word- overhyped. We came in during dinner time on Xmas eve, surprisingly there was no wait at all. We decided to dine in as we planned to order a variety. We went with: Israeli plate (fallafel balls with hummus) - this was okay, on the heavier end. Special Fallafel (most popular item, vegan) - this was such a let down. It was a bit bland, had better fallafel in Greece, didn't finish. Lamb and beef shawarma plate - this was the best plate for me. The lamb and beef was pretty bomb. However my cousin said he has had better... Overall, I'm not sure what the hype is about. I'll probably recommend it to try it once as maybe it's just my taste. However, my cousin and I will probably find alternatives next time around. read more

As good as everyone said. On a steer filled with Fallafel shops, this was amazing. You have the option to order from the window and take it to go. The line is huge, but it moves fast. I waited for a table inside for only about five minutes. So many good options to choose from. But I had to get the Fallafel pita and it was so delicious! read more
The fallafel on pita is huge and very difficult to eat while walking. Make sure you grab plenty of napkins because you will need them. On Friday July 22, 2016 I was wandering around Le Marais after I ended up cancelling fancy dinner reservations somewhere else and I just stumbled upon this place. I knew I better just buy a fallafel pita and make my way back to my apartment because who knew if I would ever find it again. My apartment was about a half mile away and I thought I would just eat it there, but I ended up shoving my face inside the huge sandwich while walking back. I ended up with sauce everywhere which is problematic when you have to unlock about five doors to get back inside your apartment. What a mess. Next time I would tell them to go easy on the sauce or maybe get it on the side. I did not take a photo of the sandwich because I didn't have a way to hold my drink, sandwich and take a photo at the same time, but there are plenty to look at. read more
After hearing about this fallafel place by word of mouth and confirming it rated so high with so many reviews on yelp, my friend and I decided to venture out to eat. It's in a cute neighborhood with lots of small shops and eateries and we found this place quickly because of the long line outside. But don't let the line fool you, it goes by fast and we were seated quickly and served immediately. They have a system down and it works. We both ordered the fallafel special. It was so good! We doused our fallafels with their hot sauce but it was not spicy enough so we added some cayenne pepper I happened to have in my purse. We both love our food spicy so this has been our thing, to carry a bottle of cayenne pepper with us at all times! The spiciness made this experience so much better! Definitely need to try this place again! read more
I'll end my French reviews on a high note. Thanks to a hot tip by Joe L, my friends and I got to experience one of the highlights of our time in Paris. Extra-lucky for us, it was pretty close to where we were staying too! Like all best places, they do a few things and they do it well. We got the falafel pita sandwiches with the extra spicy sauce and it was delish! Probably the best falafels I've had anywhere--perfectly fried, not too dry, generously stuffed into a pita with all kinds of fresh and pickled veggies. One sandwich is 6 euros but it's huge and very satisfying. Sure there's usually a long line but it moves fast. Give it a try! STEPH JUDGEMENT: One of the best deals Paris has to offer! read more

I've been to paris twice and have made it a point to go back at least twice during each trip. the staff is so friendly and the service is incredibly fast. don't be scared off by the huge line, they usually get through it pretty fast. you MUST try the falafel from here!! super flavorful and crispy. the sweet potato and eggplant are also delicious. read more

BEST FALLAFEL IN THE WORLD. Hands down, no question. Here is what you need to know: 1. Closed Saturdays. 2. Yes, there is a line but it moves fast. 3. Get the spicy sauce. (Picante, in case you wanted to say it in French.) 4. The fries are solid and wonderful. 5. The eggplant/aubergine is the BEST. PART. It's crispy yet soft but flavorful... it's amazing. 6 euros for an amazing yet filling meal... it's actually one of the best things. And wandering around Le Marais with your falafel is a great way to spend a day/night. Please open in NYC!! read more
So delicious! We passed by here the first night and were shocked to see such a huge line. We came by the next day prepared to wait, but were pleasantly surprised with how quickly the line moved. The staff is very efficient and ask you what you want while you're waiting. There are two lines. The one on the left is to-go and the right is to be seated. We waited in the to-go lone and got our food in about 10 minutes! We both got the falafel with all the fixings. It was delicious! I believe we paid about €7.5 for each? We were happy to see that they stuffed the pita to its brim and were generous with the toppings and sauce. The falafel was moist and the pita was perfectly fluffy. Alongside all the sauce, it was a perfect meal and we were stuffed after! I would love to go back to try the shawarma, but until then, I am entirely satisfied! read more

One of the best Falafel I ever ate! In the trendy Marais neighborhood you find the Jewish quarter that it's basic one Street you find L'As du Falafel. There is always a line to get a table but its a short wait and you also have the pick up option as well. They serve all typical Israeli food, including shawarma and shakshuka.., the menu is extensive. We had the humus and falafel plate, and falafel in the pita and shawarma. Simply delicious!!!. I suggest you to walk around the Marais area and see all the cool places but stop at La's to have a great, well made and cheap Middle Eastern meal! read more
We came here at 2:30 pm on a Tuesday and were immediately seated. I much prefer this option as the falafel is HUGE and I don't know how you can eat it walking around without making a big mess. For 8 euros, you can taste one of the best falafels in the world. The falafels are plump and fried to perfection, i.e. not greasy at all but with a soft center and a satisfyingly crunchy exterior. The pita is bursting with a myriad of sauces and veggies that hits all the flavor profiles and your taste buds will be dancing. L'As also performed pita-bread magic by somehow preventing the pita bread from becoming soggy even as you near the end so that you can still snack on the bottom pita bread. A must-stop if you are in Le Marais! read more
So I haven't been to Israel but have had falafel at the various well-known places in NYC. And while this is not the best falafel I've had in my life (that honor so far goes to falafel in Cairo), I can say it's definitely legit. But what elevates it to five-star material are the following things: - really tasty red sauce, smells amazing, garlicky and salty, not that spicy. Pretty diff from red sauce I've had before. Perfect complement to the rest and really made the difference. - very well-cooked eggplant, just the right level of greasy, charred, and soft. Could tell by the look from outside the window, on par with eggplant I've seen cooked when traveling in Turkey - actually don't recall seeing grilled eggplant so well made in the US. - a lot of pickled cabbage down at the bottom of the sandwich pocket. Again really complements the greasy falafel and creamy tahini. Fresh julienned cukes at top. No onions. I especially liked how there was no lettuce. (Too many falafel places in the US serve iceberg lettuce which is cheap but tastes terrible and has very little nutritional value as far as veggies go.) Overall pretty good, especially when the line is not ridiculous. Edit: second visit tried the shawarma. Was ok, not amazing. Just stick with the falafel. read more
OOF THE LINE. Up a slight hill in Les Marais, I advise you not to bring any suitcases here if you're thinking of making a quick stop before the airport, getting to that Airbnb, or any other shenanigans. The streets can be narrow, cobbled, and with a surprisingly number of delivery trucks trying to maneuver around, they don't need you and your suitcase trying to press against the walls. After getting here though (yes, we were the ones with suitcases transiting between Airbnbs), it was quick through the take-out window. All of us got the falafel and mmmmm it was aight. By "aight", I meant that was my first time having falafel so I have nothing to compare it to haha. But if proclaimed the best in Paris, then I'll pretend it'll be better than anything I can find in the States. (Challenge accepted, I'm on the hunt for the best falafel in the States now.) Huge serving of food with great flavors on the eggplant. Mysterious white sauce was abundant but made the whole pita delicious. Ignorant me didn't realize it was vegetarian (idk why) but after I found out, I did have an urge to get back in line for something more meaty. But given that I couldn't even finish the falafel itself, it would have been a waste to get more food. Highly recommended, if only for the hype. If you're a falafel fan, definitely come and check it out to see how it compares. Based on the reviews though, I'll say that they're doing pretty damn well. read more

Visited for lunch on our recent trip to Paris, to try their falafels and they did not disappoint. The actual falafel sandwich was too big for me to even try to maneuver, so I made my own mini version with their falafel plate. The pita was delicious, the hummus was good, the harissa was tasty and the falafel was delicious. It was the right amount of crispy, flavorful with spices and a good size. The guy helping us spoke some English, and was very friendly. This is a great spot to stop by if you want a break from some French cuisine, for lighter fare or just for an afternoon snack! read more

I arrived at this restaurant on a weeknight after 6PM and it wasn't too busy. I was able to get a seat inside the restaurant immediately than get food to-go. Authentic middle eastern food in Le Marais district. Busy restaurant so would allocate enough time for service. Ambiance is casual read more
Don't be afraid of the line! They all move quickly. We chose to sit inside and waited maybe 20 minutes. Service is so fast, your head will spin. Falafal is naturally vegetarian but they might fry it in meat fat, so you need to order it vegetarian if you are. It is also not gluten-free. The hubs liked his sandwich, The fries were great. Worth expereincing once. read more
Umm...can I say the GREATEST falafel I've ever had? Frequented and recommended by celebrities (Thanks Lenny Kravitz), L'As de Falafel attracts throngs of people upon dusk on a street in Paris's Jewish Quarter and for more than a good enough reason. I'm not sure if it's the spices, or the dressing, or the falafel itself (crisp but just crisp enough)...the sum of all those mixed inside a warm pita makes me drool when I think about how succulent that all was...I have yet to find any place in So Cal (right huh?) that can duplicate that. A must go if you're in Paris as it's not too far from Notre Dame Cathedral. The maze like streets in the Jewish quarter can be hard to navigate and the lines for L'As du Falafel can be long but hey, it's all worth it I tell you all! read more

Upon seeing this place on many must-try Parisian lists and its high Yelp reviews, I knew we had to try this place, especially for its cheap price! We walked over to this restaurant which is in a cool area, the Jewish quarter, full of bars and eateries. We decided to get takeaway since a falafel wrap is a very portable item and it's also half the price for take away (than dining in) at about 6 euros, which was a great deal. While I definitely enjoyed my pita (there were so many fillings!), I wasn't blown away. I'm pretty picky with falafel and this fell short; it was kind of dry. My fiance agreed, but he still loved his. The eggplant in the wrap was delicious however! I wish there was more of that. Also, I loved how they layered the wrap, so no one ingredient was just at the bottom. My fiance said he watched them build it (I couldn't because the counter is very tall), and he said that they layered all of the ingredients and repeated, so you got a good mixture of tastes in each bite! I just wish the falafel was better and moister, and that there was more sauce on mine. I'd come again though, but just don't expect the best falafel wrap ever. It's still a great tasty bang for your buck! read more

A must visit if you are in Le Marais! It's great for a quick and cheap bite to eat in between exploring. When we got there, there was a line out the door. Fortunately, it moved quite quickly. My friends and I were seated in no time at all. We ordered the falafel with pita bread (of course). Originally, we wanted to try it as a snack since we were only in Paris for the day, but it was so filling. So, this definitely makes a good stop for lunch or the share one for a snack. In addition to the crispy falafel, they were quite generous with the vegetables - a lot of tomatoes, onions, shredded purple cabbage, cucumbers, and my personal favorite, the eggplant. So yes, a fork is necessarily for this sandwich! First impressions: It was so flavorful, and it had the perfect amount of tahini sauce so that it wasn't dry. They have a variety of hot sauces and black pepper on the table for you to use. The atmosphere? The shop was quite cozy, with a mix of locals and tourists. The service was great and really quick; it was definitely no nonsense and super efficient. I would definitely come back here if I find myself in Paris again. So, if you're walking along and you see that green painted shop, do pop in; highly recommend for a casual lunch! read more

There is a to go stand for this restaurant that's open earlier as well as a sit down restaurant that opens later so be aware of what location you go to! We came across this place while exploring Le Marais and heard it was the best falafel in town so we had to go check it out! I've never had falafel before this visit and I'm not sure I really like it but this falafel wasn't bad at all! The line wasn't too long but I can see where the lines can get huge. It was only open for 10 mins and there was already a line at the to go counter. We got up and I asked for the most popular item. It was a pita filled with veggies, like eggplant, 3-4 balls of falafel and topped with a spicy and white sauce. I will say I'm not a huge fan of the falafel but it was pretty crispy and fresh as well as fast! It was only 6€ as well. Falafels aren't my favorite thing in the world, but I think if you're a falafel fan, this place is sure to hit the spot. read more

I've seen the lines get very long with people waiting for a falafel at this place. I was nervous about the wait time but They have a great system where you order with one of the workers posted out in front of the restaurant, then get in line, give your ticket to the guy in the window and he makes your order. I had 10+ people in front of me and got my order within minutes. I don't know much about falafels as I don't eat them very often but I really enjoyed my falafel sandwich. The pita was soft and warm, they gave me a decent amount of yogurt and hot sauce and the falafel balls themselves were also warm and flavorful. Really great spices and herbs that blended well with their pickled veggies. I tried the other falafel place across the street just to compare and I have to say, that this place deserves the line of customers they get. read more
Long line but quick service. Eat on food or get a table. One of their guys said it would take 14 minutes for us to sit, we waited about 3 minutes. The seating arrangements were too close to other guests but no big deal, at least we got to sit. They are quick and very helpful. The guy helping us yesterday helped so many people who spoke different languages with him. He didn't know the language but was able to understand and help. My wife and I both had their falafel pita sandwich. I'm not a falafel guy, I rather eat shawarma instead. I figured since this place is known for their falafel why not give it a try?. The sandwich was packed. They had about 6 to 8 falafel pieces along with veggies (red cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and even eggplant). I didn't finish my food but it was delicious. I was a bit hesitant at first but glad I tried it. The sauce was not over powering so our bread was not soggy at all. Anything you need, these guys will get it to you in a snap. read more

Found this place on Thrillist - 50 Things You Need to Eat in Paris Before You Die. Must say, my fiancé and I came here twice. Once we stood in line (moves fast and you must pay first. If you pay by card, you need to pay inside or give euros to the people w/ the fanny packs taking your order while in line) and received food from the window and the next night we dined in. There is a €2 difference from the window to dining in. We ordered the FALAFEL both times and it was AMAZING! MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR SPICY (it's SO good and isn't too, too spicy for those that cannot handle too much spice). Side note: I help out a friend on a mediterranean food truck in LA and must say this falafel blows my taste buds out of the water! FRESH hot falafel and eggplant with a "slaw" in a nice warm pita hit the spot after a long day of sightseeing. Words honestly cannot describe how amazing it is. PLEASE go and give this place a try, I promise you won't regret it!!! read more

I vsited L'as du Fallafel twice last week, and both times ordered the special falafel sandwich. Couldn't say what the other menu items taste like, but this sandwich was great and definitely a bargain. Life-changing? Well, no. But easily one of the better falafel sandwiches I've eaten. There's no skimping on these babies; lots of falafel that are nice and crisp on the outside, and pita the way I prefer - with just enough softness and puff. (I read a recent review here by someone who complained about how the pita fell apart but the reviewer said they didn't even eat their sandwiches until two hours after they purchased them... seriously?? Give me a break, what do you expect?). The sandwich has a really nice crunch with the cabbage ... and the eggplant? Brilliant addition. And I'm not even an eggplant fan. Visit #1 the line was short, second time the line took us about 20-25 minutes to go through. If I was starving no I wouldn't wait in a super-long line but both times were definitely worth it to me. If you like spice, definitely ask for them to spice it up for you. As you can probably tell from the "before-I-dug-into-it" photo, I asked for mine extra spicy - lots of sauce! The line for takeaway moves much, much faster than waiting to be seated (there is an adjacent storefront for the sit down restaurant) - so unless you absolutely need to sit at a table, I'd suggest the takeaway line. You can then just take a one-minute stroll up the street to the lovely Jardin des Rosiers-Joseph Migneret and eat this thing of beauty while sitting on a park bench in this park tucked away off the beaten path. Make sure to pick up a fork when you get your sandwich - big and messy - in the tastiest way! read more
