We ordered the schnitzel and the bratwurst, which came with cabbage and potato salad, and paired everything with a Berliner Kindl and a Pilsner. The schnitzel was fantastic--crispy, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor--while the bratwurst was equally delicious. The cabbage and potato salad complemented the sausage beautifully, and I found myself piling both onto my schnitzel because they were that good! The true star of the evening, however, was the apple strudel. Freshly made, perfectly sweet, and easily the best apple strudel I had in Berlin. We had a reservation, which I'd recommend since the restaurant filled up quickly during dinner service. The service was fast, friendly, and the staff spoke excellent English, making the experience easy and welcoming for visitors. Since it was a warm evening, we chose the outdoor seating, which made for a lovely dinner, though the indoor dining room has the cozy charm of a traditional German pub. If you're looking for hearty, authentic German food done right, Dicke Wirtin is an absolute must-visit.

If you don't speak German there are plenty of waiters who are fluent in English. We got some cocktails for brunch. Delicious but not really strong. The food was great. The good thing is, though, is that they also have a full-lowuor selection bar and is open til late at night (used to operate 24/7, but after COVID, they more or less changed to serving til 10 or 11Pm instead). The menu itself is a breakfast affair, with a variety of pancakes/sweet breakfast to yummy things like eggs Benedict varieties. I had Tower of Babylon, which was on a light side. But, having that with sourdough...it makes me feel so full that I couldn't really try some sweets/desserts as I initially hoped for. The place was busy and at times seemed understaffed. However, the staff was nice and polite. The bartender even gave me a cocktail drink on him, knowing it would take a little while for me to get my food the day I stopped by. The tower of Babylon that I ordered was perfect sized actually. It wasn't heavy and I felt great and not sluggish as I would normally feel with other breakfast foods after the meals. Check this place out during the breakfast/day time if you are looking for a trendy brunch spots..but the night/evening times offers a lill more intimate/swanky version of this dining place as well!

This one is right on the corner, off Kurfürstendamm. When you walk through the front door, the retail shop is on the left and the restaurant is on the right. The store is open earlier than the restaurant, so they have a red rope in front that staff move once open. The ambiance is the same as any other Hard Rock Cafe. They have the usual photographs of musicians on the wall. I sat at a table right under a photo of Sting. There's a small car in the back and one of Robert Smith's guitars hanging on the wall near the kitchen. When I walked in, the host asked if I would be drinking only or ordering food. They wish to seat customers at the bar when it's drinks only. There are also tables outdoors, but because it was raining, I sat indoors. I ordered a blackberry sangria and fried chicken sliders. Both were good. My drink tasted better than my food. I was full afterwards. The sliders were a little larger than expected. It was like eating 1-1/2 of a regular sized sandwich. Staff were great. Friendly, efficient, and spoke English. Mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut. After lunch, I bought a couple souvenir Berlin t-shirts. Might as well.

From attending the opening of the very first Hard Rock Cafe, onto visiting many of them as they spread out across the globe, I feel like I have a pretty good idea about what they are all about. The thing is, most of them are very-very mediocre. The atmosphere isn't that great, this service is generally not that good, and the food is, (how can I say it), boring. This being said, the Berlin Hard Rock Cafe really has a lot more to offer than many of the other ones stationed in cities around the world. The thing that I noticed most about this Hard Rock Cafe is that the food here is very good. The service here is also very good, as well. In association with Servers that are very friendly, very nice, and really take care of their customers. Thus, among all of the remaining Hard Rock Cafés that I've been to over the last couple of years, the Berlin location really stands out. So, if you're in Berlin, and you want what the Hard Rock Cafe has to offer, this is your place to get it.

Had the deluxe version with cheese and bacon and fries at 16,5 €. The patty itself had great steak taste to it and where grilled perfect and the lettuce, cheese and bacon where fine too. What really brought the burger down from a 4 star to a 3 star was the pre-fabricated bread that was not up to par with the rest of this nice tasting burger. Talked to the canadian owner (who was very nice and friendly) about the burger and what i found to be bad bread. He said he knows it not as good as the rest of the burger and that he is constantly looking for a baker to do a good "home made" burger bun but that its really hard finding a baker like that in Berlin. Anyway the burger and fries where good as where the cold german beer and the cocktails. Friendly staff and nice looking bar makes this a place i would come back to. Another short note is that the price of the burger was roughly 5 € or 30% higher then the burger at "The Bird" we had the next day. Even do it was a bit on the sloppy side it was a better burger overall at a much lower price. So i think a price adjustment down a few euros would be good for business.

Guests were a mix of 18-50 but mostly 20-35 I think. Lots of hot girls and all the guys were flirty but respectful. The most aggressive guy flipped my hair as I walked past which was weird but better than an ass grab. I'm from US and I usually get grabbed or bumped or drinks are spilled on me so maybe I have low expectations! The bartenders were fairly quick, friendly and the music was good (all American 90s-current hip hop). The bathroom never had a line and was clean. The only things they could improve would be not having such a slow line, it was empty inside so I didn't get it but once in, I saw it could have been because the coat check couldn't keep up. Maybe pay for that at check in with your door fee to expedite the process? The bouncers shining a flashlight on my face as I left and guessing my ethnicity was a weird way to end the night. If this club wants to be classy the staff should probably avoid treating the females that come like that. I'm taking off one star just because of that. All in all, great night. I danced until 5am.

Fajitas were delicious though, by US standards anyway, the guacamole and salsa portions on the side were a bit skimpy. But the flavor was great! As was the margarita. It's Tex-Mex, though presumably the German version, as it was nothing your average American would recognise - and note that the burgers are actually sandwiched between tortillas rather than buns. Portions are generous for the price, and our meal of nachos with cheese, sour cream and guacamole followed by a burrito and two burgers, with a beer each, and s tip came to just under €50 for three. All the food was freshly cooked and tasty. Service was very friendly and helpful and a kitchen error with our order was picked up and sorted without us having to point it out. The main problem was the speed of the kitchen - or rather, the lack of it. We were served reasonably quickly, but as soon as it got busy, other tables had to wait longer, and one couple gave up after 40 minutes. So, I'd happily go there again, but others may have had a different experience. Go early or during quieter periods, unless you're happy to wait. Update December 2018: another good meal, under €25 for two including beers, and this time with (much) faster food service.
