The bar in the restaurant has a very nice list of whiskys- a good amount from Isle of Skye. There is a casual pub in the hotel with a casual menu and drinks. You can also sit out side of the pub on the lawn with picnic tables. Our room was very cute- small but we were only sleeping there. Even with the pub downstairs it was very quiet and enjoyable. My most favorite thing was that the marble line (hiking trail) is about 2km from the hotel- it made for a breathtaking morning run amongst the mountain and sheep.

We stayed in the garden rooms which are a newer addition to the hotel. They had great views. The rooms were clean and they provided goodies in the coffee/tea/refrigerator area. It can get crowded at breakfast and in the small lobby. The worst thing was the incredibly hard bed. The mattress had no cushioning and it was like sleeping on a wooden plank. There was a cute dog sitting on the desk at check-in with a birthday boy sash on. That's the only nice thing about this hotel. I found it to be dirty and the shower and beds were tiny. I always bring cleaning/bleach wipes with me when I travel and boy am I glad I did this time. I found several random hairs in the shower, on a towel, on my comforter and on my pillows. I found dirt and/or blood stains I was able to wipe right off with little effort so it led me to believe think they don't clean the rooms in between guests. These stains were in the shower and above the towel rack on the wall. I understand the desire to keep this hotel as original as possible but sometimes upgrades need to be made. At a minimum, cleaning is a must ! Dinner was decent but breakfast was terrible. Breakfast is served at 730am. Not a minute more, actually it was several minutes late. There was a large amount of guests huddled up in the lobby area waiting to get into the dining area. Breakfast was set up as a buffet style. Once they opened the doors it became gridlocked and took about 15-20 minutes for it to subside. The other issues when you have a buffet style breakfast is you have guests who do dirty things. I saw a man handle about 10 pieces of bread before he decided on the perfect piece. Then, he toasted his perfect piece while leaving the other 9 pieces on the table for others to unknowingly eat. Who's to say he didn't use the bathroom before breakfast and not wash his hands or touch several doorknobs before breakfast ? Gross ! I know the hotel cannot control people like him, but maybe if they were paying attention to the food line, they would see this and be able to stop it or throw the pieces he handled away. I like Isle of Skye very much, however, I would drive two hours away to ensure I get a better hotel and simply make this island a day trip. Save your money and go elsewhere !

One of the worst hotels I have been to. I was traveling with a tour group and was given this…read morebroom-closet sized room with basically a fold-out cot as the bed. All of that is fine for one night, whatever. But the worst part was how thin the walls and ceiling are, to the point that you can hear everything around you, from the people walking around in their room above me to the people walking past my room door. I ended up waking up at 5 am because the people above me started moving around at that time, and I was unable to go back to sleep because of how loud the creaking and squeaking was. I talked to the other people in my group and they all experienced the same issue, no matter the size of their room. I guess this hotel doesn't care about standards since hotel rooms are probably in such high demand on the Isle of Skye. My tour director also told us beforehand that this hotel is surprisingly the most expensive one we would be staying at, suprising considering how lacking and hos substandard it was. The food was mediocre. The one nice thing about this place is that it's right on the water, which is great but enough to make up for my lack of sleep? Don't think so.

We had a party of 9 and we made a quick reservation which was ready when we arrived. The bartenders set us up with drinks including locally sourced specialities which were amazing including " Tommy's Gin"gin and tonic which was a real winner. When the food arrived we started to eat and everyone was silent for a while and then all we could do was talk about how amazing the food was. We had the fish and chips, Caledonian steak pie, Salmon, Duck, and Venison. Every dish was prepared to Perfection ... then came desserts... rubbed tarts, pavlova with lemon curd, and berries with ice cream... we had an amazing time and are returning tomorrow night with our full wedding party of 11 to feast again!
