The Seven -Eleven got its current name from the hours they used to be open (from 7am to 11pm.) Now 24/7. The 7-11 on State Street is just perfect! You can grab a hotdog, a bacon wrapped hot dog some junk food snacks, a loaf of bread, TP, fresh fruit, lots of cappuccino (yes, the powdered kind, but sometimes it's soooo good) [remember when you were in elementary school and your parents let you have a cap at the gas station on the way to school and you felt so grown up? Haha] Fresh drip coffee like at the truck stop, but better, cheese sticks, soda pop, juice.... And of course the ever famous----SLURPEE!!!! Oh my goodness the slurpees are the most unique texture of all slushy drinks. Flavors vary from store to store and state to state. There are fresh donuts, a good assortment actually for the tiny size of this seven eleven. The staff is consistently kind, helpful, really friendly. They sell most of the things that the Walgreens on Lake and State sells for a bit cheaper and it's not usually as busy; however, now that you know about the Slurpees.... The cat's out o' the bag so to speak check 'Em out!! The Big Gulp, Super Big Gulp, Double Gulp (64 ounces!!) can quench even the driest palate.

A bottle of soda is like $1.75, which, by my Chicago standards is pretty normal. Water is also priced normal. I've never had bad service. I walk up to the counter with my merchandise, pay, get change and leave. What I like best is the map and store rules. I am actually a fan of maps. I think our spatial capabilities suffer just a little bit every time we use google maps to tell us how to navigate while never actually looking at the map and where we are going. In any case, the fine cartography makes navigating 1,000 sq feet much easier. Plus if I were at all uncertain about opinionated whining or paying in large sums of change, I could easily look at the back of the map and realize that these things are not acceptable by the Clerk.

Riley's is my choice of Madison-based liquor stores. There's nothing wrong with others, and I…read morepatronize several, but RIley's is hard to beat. Aside from their incredible selection, they bring in a lot of private barrels of whiskey that you're unable to get anywhere else. The prices are very fair, not the cheapest in town, not the most expensive. The staff is very friendly. One of the great things about Riley's is their allocated lottery system. You don't have to be "in the know" to get hard-to-find whiskeys. You sign up on their email list, they email you when an allocated item is in stock, and you choose if you're interested or not. If you're interested, you're entered into a draw, and if you win, you get to buy it. This is a much more fair deal than other stores, where I've simply been told, "We have some long-time customers who will get that, you won't." Located a few blocks from the UW, this is a must-visit store. Don't forget what many do - there's an upstairs with a lot more than what's on the main floor. Cheers!

This place could not be more different from the Walgreens on the Capitol Square. Every time I've…read morehad a prescription sent there, it's been filled quickly and without any problems. On one occasion, I made a mistake and gave them the code for the wrong type of pills. When I arrived to pick up the prescription and discovered the problem, they were very nice and filled the correct one in literally five minutes. Note that normally, I do send my prescriptions over ahead of time; given the high volume of student traffic, I think it's probably a good idea to avoid waits. Even the time that I had to have them refill something on the spot, however, it didn't take long at all, and I've noticed that they seem to have quite a few people staffing the pharmacy at all times.
