I almost bought a used car today. I took it here to have it checked out because there was a lot of…read morevibration in the front end and the seller said the brake light stayed on, although when I test drove there were no warning lights on at all. The main mechanic here, James, plugged the car into the diagnostic computer and flat out asked the man selling the car, "Who cleared all these codes? There are 5 codes that have been cleared off." He openly accused the seller of wiping the codes so they wouldn't trigger warning lights for 30-100 miles... the seller denied the accusation saying he "knew that trick" but he hadn't done that. I am not here to judge the seller, he'd only had the car a little while and very well may have been unaware... I guess. My point is, James saved me possibly thousands of dollars on a cash-car that may have been a heap. I loved the way James stood up to the seller, looked me in the eye and said, "I wouldn't buy this car if I were you." Made me feel like he was in my corner. When I asked what I owed him he told me there would be no charge since all he did was check the computer, I was full well expecting to have to pay him $65 dollars still. I'm not one to leave bad reviews, but if it saves someone from making the same mistake I did, I…read morefeel obligated to do so. I would STRONGLY recommend taking your vehicle elsewhere. Any shop that offers a 10% discount in exchange for a positive review should, in my opinion, be approached with caution. My experience with this shop was far from positive. A truck that had 250,000 miles on it and was showing signs that should have raised some serious questions about a failing head gasket. Instead, I was led through a series of costly repairs that basically treated the symptoms instead of finding the actual problem. Those repairs ultimately failed within a few weeks. They also installed what I believe were cheap aftermarket parts, including the wrong front struts. When I brought it to their attention, instead of taking responsibility and replacing them, they wanted to charge me to install a lift on the rear of the truck to compensate for the front end sitting higher than the rear. WTF? Another big concern was the price and quality of the parts. When I asked about the brand of the parts they were installing, which seemed they were hesitant to reveal, I was surprised to find what appeared to be nearly a 100% markup compared with retail prices. Their invoices also don't identify the brand or manufacturer of the parts, so you really don't know what you're paying for. In my experience, the parts were marked up an unreasonable amount, especially considering the quality. Looking back, I feel like the focus was more on getting me to authorize additional repairs rather than properly figuring out what was actually wrong with the truck, knowing Id probably just cut my losses if I had been told the truth about the head gasket from the beginning. I originally brought my truck here because I was trying to avoid dealership prices. Unfortunately, when I finally took it to the dealership, that's when I learned what was actually wrong with the truck, which was in fact the head gasket and the wrong struts installed. The dealership also asked me if I had ever used a quick sealant in my engine because of the sludge they found in the radiator overflow, the radiator that auto clinique just replaced. I don't have proof, but definitely raised even more concerns about the shop practices. I was so hopeful that I had found an honest shop, but sadly, I'd have to say they are far from it. And Ray, I'm not interested in you telling me how you offer a year warranty on your parts and repairs. Thank you
