We started off with the 90 min ride in a group and plan on scheduling the 2 hour private ride for later this summer. Elizabeth was very friendly. I really appreciated how we got there, quickly signed up, got equipment and we were off after a introduction. She rode ahead and was always there to answer any questions but my daughter and I were close enough to comfortably talk the entire time. The horses turned out in runs and pastures all looked well fed and cared for. They have an impressive Extreme Trail Course built outside, see pictures -- this is not open to the public to ride or walk through, which is understandable as it looks like they want to keep everything nice for competitions. There is a huge outdoor ring (maybe 100x200?) with sand/small rock footing -- nothing that I would jump in, but it works for flatting well enough, and they had a bunch of de-spooking obstacles set up at the time that were interesting. They allow haul-ins I believe for $20 per horse/rider combo, which is very reasonable considering how nice the facility is and that you are allowed to use their obstacles. There is an indoor arena also, but we only used the outdoor so I don't know if haul-ins are allowed to use it or not.

I have to give a huge shout out to instructor and horse (and people) handler, Nola Butler, who was as patient with me as a person could be. I was able to circumambulate the "arena" with said horse. But when I got on the trail, a few spatial disabilities of mine kicked in (no pun intended), so it was clear I just needed to end my ride. So I got off Dusty as fast as we could get back. (And in the transfer, Dusty managed to grab four huge bushes in one swift movement and put them in his mouth all at once! Impressive!!! That said, he was super gentle and elegantly hoovered an offered ginormous carrot from my hand with delicacy and speed.) So, all told, I maybe spent 30 minutes on the horse, but that was enough time to be truly impressed with this operation and with Nola, who was fabulous. Her assistance and instructions were very clear (and worked!) The set-up is caring about safety. As stated before, Nola is a Goddess of Patience (and good humor...) If I could manage to keep myself on a horse comfortably, I would be very happy with this outfit. I think it was really top notch.

They have at least ten lesson horses used for western and english disciplines, though their dressage school master has apparently gone to the great pasture in the sky. They offer trail rides on 30 acres of woods plus the lanes surrounding their large and well-maintained grassy turnouts and two covered arenas. The horses are in excellent condition and their hooves well maintained, which is something I always look for. They rotate their lesson horses so they aren't overused and as a result they aren't sour as some lesson horses can become. The operation is very safety conscious. I plan on taking lessons again while staying at the B&B. I would recommend this business especially for kids and beginner riders, though anyone who is flexible about their riding will have a great time.

I have been working at SVS for several different horse owners for almost 2 years. I have seen it…read moreundergo new management and new borders. This place truly cares about the well being of both its horses and owners. Horses kick down boards at any and every stable; at SVS it is taken care of as soon as possible and taken very seriously by the current barn manager. I have never seen any of the horses without water. Grain and supplements are given to each horse as needed, hay is provided (unless you bring your own) and if you would like for it to be in a hay net, soaked, or added to your own hay; it is all done with no extra cost. Horses get turnout everyday, including some horses in different fields to ensure safety and comfort. Not only this, but every single stall has a run in so the horses are never forced to be inside. When I had issues with the arena, it was immediately taken care of. Allowing me to safely do my job. This is a full care facility (blankets, fly sheets, fly spray, fly masks, etc) with a completely fair cost that you are not going to find anywhere else. While it has some cosmetic and aesthetic disadvantages, it is NOT dangerous.

I brought 2 minis and within a week, there was a power drill left in their corral, wood railing down in their corral with 6 or so nails sticking up. The final straw was no water for the horses in the morning. None of the horses were watered and some had no water whatsoever. I moved them immediately. Apparently, there is a staffing problem, okay, however the owner should should check that the horses are cared for if she realizes there is a staffing issue. And the hay they feed is junk hay, looks awful. I brought my own hay as I would not feed my horses that crap! I was so upset that I subjected my babies to this care! Avoid at all costs!!
