I do not agree with the preview reviews here. My wife and I went here today (April 25) for lunch and had a very pleasant experience. We had excellent service (which surprised us after having been in Europe for 2 weeks and experiencing the "culture" of poor restaurant service), and food was delivered very fast. Now, maybe the previous reviewers went during busy season? I don't know. I only know from my experience, which was extremely positive.
Their soups were excellent. My wife had the tomato and I had the consomme with noodles. I had the goulash and my wife had the chicken breast. Both tasted very good. Best of all is that the price, especially for a museum restaurant/cafe, were good.
The only thing that I need to mention is that the restaurant is CASH ONLY. I did not know this coming in, nor did I think to ask (I kind of expect all restaurants to offer payment by card). So I had to run to the ATM in the visitor's center to get some euros to pay for lunch. (For those wondering, the ATM there is perfectly fine. Just choose the option to pull currency in Euros, not your local currency. The ATM wanted to charge me 1.29 USD per EUR for the 60 EUR I pulled out, whereas by choosing the EUR option my bank gave me 1.23 USD; lower is better in this case).
I recommend. read more
