In December 2022, I had Kustom Gutters in Katy install six (6) inch black seamless gutters all around the exterior of my house. I own a one-story 2400 square foot house and the house never had gutters before and it was built in 2021. I had the entire house done; their work included eight concrete splash blocks as well. Hello my fellow Yelpers. For those who have read my recent reviews, you know that we moved from the Medical Center to Katy. We bought a new home and for some reason, new home builders don't wrap the whole house with gutters, just the front but that is okay, my builder is still the best. Anyway, after hearing all of the horror stories about foundation and landscape issues you will encounter if you don't have gutters, We decided to invest early into having the whole house wrapped with gutters. We called a couple of companies to come out to give us an estimate. The prices were pretty much the same with each company. We chose Katy Kustom Gutters over the other companies for one reason only, they were the only company that had an A rating with the BBB, other than that, all of them were courteous and had pretty decent Yelp ratings. The experience we had with Katy Kustoms was outstanding! From Joni coming out, giving us an estimate and answering all of our questions (yes we are not new to home ownership but we are new to owning a house lol), to the guys coming out, installing the gutters and explaining almost everything that they we're doing. I did have one issue, they left a few pieces of metal in the grass which I found while cutting the yard but, I saw the pieces before I ran my lawn mower over them so everything turned out okay. Fortunately, it rained like crazy all weekend so we got to see first hand how the new gutters were working, PERFECTION! No leaks, downspouts were placed perfectly and it was nice not to have a waterfall coming off our roof into our backyard lol. Did not install the gutters properly they're leaking. He's been out for the second time and still it has problems he refuses to fix the gutter installed . I am now charging back my credit card and getting in touch with my lawyer he has damaged my shingles on my roof is cause water damage to the facia boards on my home. Decided to choose this company to install our gutters because they stick to their word. They claim they will offer the lowest price compared to other companies and that was true. I got quotes from 5 other companies in the area, and Katy Kustom Gutters was less expensive and more affordable. They also offer what others don't which is a lifetime warranty on labor. You will not find anyone else that offers that warranty. After they installed the gutters I wasn't satisfied how one section turned out on the house, so I called and they came a couple days later to fix it until I was fully satisfied. I also wanted screens to keep the leaves out so I did not have to climb ladders to keep the gutters from clogging. The owner of the company came by to discuss my needs, and presented me with a quote. No doubt this company is quick to service new sales with their literature, being insured and promising a lifetime warranty. But don't let that professionalism fool you like it did me; they do not stand behind their product at least with my recent interaction with Joni. Five years ago I got 3 quotes for installing gutters via Service Advisor. I needed gutters installed on the back and side on my house with associated downspouts. Their quote was over $2000; next lowest bid was $500 less. The owner was quick to talk down the other companies saying they are insured and will be around to service the gutters and if anything went wrong with them (through no fault or damage by me) they would be repaired free of charge. I chose them and the gutters were quickly installed in April 2013. Well, I recently noticed that one of my splash guards were loose, and one actually fell off. I called them to get this repaired and told them I also want to talk to them about possibly adding or moving a downspout. Of course I would not expect this to be under warranty. They scheduled a service call later in the week. I then get a text from Joni with a price to disconnect 2 and add 1 downspout, while also recommending gutter covers. Not sure how she quoted that without even seeing what my issues were, plus I wasn't ready to make any changes until I considered my options. She mentioned nothing about fixing my splash guards that should be under warranty. I texted her back and said that I just want to 'discuss' possibilities of redirecting some of the water to improve drainage on my patio, but I mainly wanted to get my splashguards secured. She cancelled my appt. To make a long story short, I spoke with Joni the next day. Joni is so stressed out she started not making any sense. She started saying I needed 3 appts: one to talk with me, one to do the repairs and one to do the new installation I never asked for. She was yelling and interrupting me during our call, not at all professional! She said that they only come our for repairs if the repair is obvious and continued to give me reasons why I have drainage issues, again without coming to my house. You would think that a professional company would come to repair the splash guards and inspect the gutters, fix anything that falls under their workmanship and recommend things like gutter cleaning. if I needed things like a gutter cleaning I would have been happy to pay for that service. But no, Joni said I needed 3 appointments and basically said if they had to do that with all of their customers they would need more trucks. Basically, their lifetime warranty has no more value than the paper it is written on. But the real reason I am writing this review is how she ended our conversation. After realizing that there is no service warranty they stand behind, I told her I should have went with the Hispanic guy who quoted me $500 less. She immediately interrupted me and asked what problem I had with Hispanic people, told me she was Hispanic, said she was offended, called me a racist and hung up the phone, all in the same breath!. Like I said, I should have went with the Hispanic guy who was cheaper, didn't provided an insurance certificate and all the fancy literature, or tell me that I have a lifetime warranty. We started with this company, the owner Jimmy came out to give the estimate. A few days later, took down all the gutters in about 30 minutes but, when they saw there was wood rot (which we made very clear there probably was some of during the estimate), they didn't have there English speaking team leader back to the house until 4:30pm and no one was contacting us to say what was going to happen. Their crew sat at our house from 11:30-4:30 waiting to hear what they were going to do. By that time, there was no time to do anything and we were left with no gutters on the house and rain in the forecast. For people who have never experienced replacing gutters, you need to know that gutter companies are aware there could be wood rot when they take the gutters off, especially when the home is over 15 years old. The problem is, it's extremely hard to find someone who can replace fascia and soffit. This company does not have anyone on staff or readily available to replace wood. They sent out an independent company late in the day that wanted to charge over $6000.00 for 600 ft of rotted wood! We later found out, we didn't have 600 ft of rotted wood, we have 70 ft. Therefore, you will go from thinking you will have new gutters today to; no gutters on your house, holes in your rotted wood and rain coming possibly because it's Houston. This was very stressful for us when the rain came down hard on us 2 days later not knowing if rain was coming in. Luckily, we eventually found a company that does gutters and wood at a reasonable price. read more

Over 700 linear feet of gutters and downspouts installed around large newly construction home and garage. Jimmy worked with us on location(s) of each downspout with regards to where we wanted them. Jimmy's crew was amazing. Courteous, polite, productive. Job performed was job discussed and agreed upon. Job was performed on a timely basis. Job work space (our driveway) was cleaned on a daily basis at the end of each work day. When our (idiot) builder's painter bashed in the 60 ft. one piece section on the front of the house with his ladder . . . Jimmy replaced it completely without gouging us on the price. We contacted and met with Jimmy. Installation was complete within 3 weeks. You need to remember that gutter companies busiest season is Spring . . . therefore, don't expect to call on a Monday with installation on a Tuesday or Wednesday. read more

UPDATE If I could give this business less than one star, I would. Joni, Jimmy's wife contacted me via Yelp and offered to help. I was surprised, pleased, and hopeful that the horrible job that has been a thorn in my side for over a year, might finally be addressed. The buck stops with Joni. Emily and Jimmy accused me of not cleaning and maintaining my roof without even seeing it in person. I quickly got a call and set up a day for someone to come out to look at things. They No Showed. They were to be here at 9 today. Of course, I was ready for them by 8 . At quarter to 11, I got a text they weren't coming and to reschedule. I requested the next day, Friday afternoon. I was informed by Emily that they only do repairs in the morning, I was given a 1-2 pm slot for Monday. What?! Emily said they would come and seal the leaks in my gutter which signaled to me that they didn't have a clue as to what was really wrong. Sealing would not do the trick! I sent more pictures to explain the problem. They said from my photos, my roof and gutters weren't maintained and they would charge $575 to clean them. I told her they have been maintained regularly, that the recent heavy rains have prevented me from getting up on the roof to blow it off. Actually aside from the crepe myrtle flower and leaf drop season, my roof is not that bad. But they saw what they saw. In addition, they told me trees were over my roof line. IDK how they saw that,? I had my trees uplifted and NO trees or limbs are near my roof. There was no convincing them. It clearly wasn't their fault. I sent more pictures of the rain flowing over their gutter covers. Again, I was told that I hadn't maintained my roof and gutters but they would come out and clean it, "this time". I am NOT having them come over to the house. There is nothing they can do as they have already have the attitude that all this was my fault even though I informed them the very first rain after installation that we had a big problem. As soon as the weather cools down, I am going up on my roof and remove the $2300 job I paid for to get my gutters functioning correctly again and save my landscaping. They told me the installer, their brother Michael, had an attitude problem. Well, guess what, his brother Jimmy isn't much different! There are plenty of GOOD gutter companies in our area. We're at the end of a dead end street on a 1/3 mile dirt road. Our house and the neighbors are the only houses. I have a 5 yr old that plays outside. I informed him of this and that his speed was uncalled for. He had to slam on his brakes and passed my neighbors driveway. He told me he was in a hurry and has good eyesight. Then I asked again to please just slow down and he said I wasn't a police officer. Then parked at the top of our dirt road for 10 minutes. I guess he was no longer in a hurry. We new we needed them and had been thinking about doing it ourselves.Met these guys at the Home and Garden show in January. They came out, did and estimate, gave a H&G discount and we scheduled. The installers were on time, neat and tidy, I asked for a couple changes to the drain off and they happily complied. Our gutters have been tested by torrential rain, especially the big flooding rains in April 2016 over in Cypress and they did great moving the water away from our house. I think the owners are good people with good intentions - that said, I had a crew that did a bad job. Because of improper installation and them not coming back when I saw a problem my porch ceiling was damaged. There were other leaks between the house and gutters and other issues. It took many phone calls, getting my brother in law involved, lots of my time waiting and rearranging my schedule and 3.5 months to get things "fixed" and there is still one place that is leaking between the gutter and fascia board that the owner himself "fixed." At 2:30, we called to see if they were still coming and the woman in the office said she would have the technician call us with an update (she wasn't apologetic, so maybe this is a pattern). We never received a follow-up call and no one ever showed up. We tried calling again around 4:30, but no one picked up. At that time I made an appointment with Michelle to have someone come out. She advised me that the owner (Jimmy?) could come out on Sunday. I was hesitant at first because 1) that was nearly a week long wait and 2) it was a holiday weekend AND my husband's birthday. But I proceeded in scheduling the appointment since we REALLY need to have gutters installed to prevent further erosion along the back of our home. So we made plans to celebrate my husband's birthday Friday and Saturday so we could be available all day on Sunday. Well, Sunday morning (the day of my appointment) I get a call at 9:15 (less than 3 hours before appointment) notifying me that the owner would not be making it out. This was a second opinion/estimate as I had already received a quote from AJ Gutters. Their company showed up on time, as scheduled and gave me a no hassle quote. It is sad that Katy Custom Gutters has such poor customer service because now I will be leaving this same feedback on my neighborhood Facebook page where they were originally recommended to me. This is not a professional way to handle things. If anything, the owner could have picked up the phone and called me himself. The person was able to provide solutions to divert water drainage around a future patio and pool area in the backyard and their price was very competitive to another company that quoted the same job but these guys just seemed way more professional.
