It was a massive pain! That was the only thing that ruined the experience, other than that the food was great and the service was also awesome. The ordering process was nice and easy, the fact that it is self ordering from the room on a screen makes ordering fast and easy and you can really take your time ordering. The sushi was nice and fresh and the chicken dishes were flavoursome, the portions were pretty small but the prices weren't terribly expensive, with the in room ordering it made it way to easy to order, especially in a bigger room where there is 2 screens to order! Very hard to police who is ordering what. Overall it was a cool place to go with nice food and good friendly service.

Be warned though if your overly eager fingers traipse across the screen, the servings are quite small and you may end up with a much larger bill than planned. Although the food is reasonably priced, it's not recommended for heavy eaters. There are heaps of different dishes to choose from, and the food is categorised to make finding your favourites that much easier. I have a few friends that are terrified of eating eel but the dragon rolls, which is eel with a smoky bbq sauce and cream cheese is enough to tempt even them. The service is quite speedy, so no more waiting for table water as the staff zip from one booth to the next. On busy nights waiting for a table can be the pits because it gets heaps of customers who are coming from Darling Harbour. For bigger groups, it's recommended you book out private rooms in advance. If you do get one, you'll get a feel for an authentic Japanese dinner, with a low table and floor cushions to kneel on. I've heard a fair bit about this place and I'll admit that I haven't tried their sushi roulette (salmon rolls where one has a nasty wasabi surprise) but that's definitely the next fun thing on my Wagaya agenda!

This looked like a generic Japanese place, like the ones you find in English speaking countries. Yelp and other apps seem to recommend it, and I walked in suspiciously. Turns out, it was great! They advertised wagyu beef grilled on pink Himalayan salt, and that was what we got. It turned out to be a thick slab of salt on a gas stove, where you could grill the wagyu and veggies on the salt itself. Since the salt provides the flavour, you don't have to add extra seasoning to the food grilled on it - it made everything taste delicious. The beef was also of good quality and had fabulous marbling. We also got agedashi tofu and some grilled salmon. The tofu were so-so, but the salmon was so delicious and presented very nicely with vegetables. Service was so-so, but the prices were great since the US dollar was strong (woohoo), and I think that was the cheapest quality wagyu I've had in a restaurant. I still haven't seen places in the US that does the salt grill thing. I wish I could go back and have this again!

The price runs on the more expensive side but it did reflect the quality and taste so I didn't feel like I was ripped off. But then again I wasn't the one paying. I don't think I'll rush back with that kind of price but if you don't have to worry about the moolah the it's a great Japanese place to go.

It's a traditional Japanese Yakitori / Izakaya house with very traditional decor, small tables, open kitchen and very friendly staff. We ordered a sashimi selection, pork belly skewers, slow cooked scallops and, tempura prawns with truffle salt. The food here is amazing. The fish was super fresh and tasty. The tempura prawns were divine and I loved the scallops. The flavours were very authentic and clean just like good places in Japan. I would happily come back here any day for a feed and some sake. There are 2 dishes I have never missed whenever dining at this restaurant, which are sushi and yakitori skewers. Especially I love how they make the seared sushi. Simply delicious. My partner is big fan of the Baked Cabbage with truffle sauce. It has such a unique combination of flavour. Their menu is quite big and I have not explored all of them, but all the dishes I have tried were awesome. The place is quite hidden but is not bothered with the whole exclusionary aura of the upscale. The waiters are beyond professional/nice/warm and the menu was excellent. The notable yummy dishes were the egg custard, rice of the day and kingfish. The dessert needs work but is a solid 7/10. Will return.
