So, you come in, place an order for your noodle (udon/soba, cold/hot, regular/large, with or w/o special toppings), pick up fresh tempura, pick up side dishes, then proceed to cashier. I have to admit - regardless of the super-low prices, food here is actually good! A couple of downsides are: the first stop (noodle order point) takes time to process and holds the flow...maybe they could have changed the layout and have two staff members process noodle orders instead of one? Also, in spite of the signs everywhere "do not take seats before ordering," lots of folks especially families and student groups are occupying seats while sending one or two members to order/pick up food for the "whole team." Sometimes not all of them are even eating, and just there to chat... During peak hours, the queue gets very long, so you may want to avoid. Now, they've got their sister (or brother?) venue right next to it - focusing on rice bowls and kushiage items. Oh, both places are cash only.

This looked like a generic Japanese place, like the ones you find in English speaking countries. Yelp and other apps seem to recommend it, and I walked in suspiciously. Turns out, it was great! They advertised wagyu beef grilled on pink Himalayan salt, and that was what we got. It turned out to be a thick slab of salt on a gas stove, where you could grill the wagyu and veggies on the salt itself. Since the salt provides the flavour, you don't have to add extra seasoning to the food grilled on it - it made everything taste delicious. The beef was also of good quality and had fabulous marbling. We also got agedashi tofu and some grilled salmon. The tofu were so-so, but the salmon was so delicious and presented very nicely with vegetables. Service was so-so, but the prices were great since the US dollar was strong (woohoo), and I think that was the cheapest quality wagyu I've had in a restaurant. I still haven't seen places in the US that does the salt grill thing. I wish I could go back and have this again!
