Best Catering Experience…read more This year, I had to plan my company's 21st anniversary party. I literally looked up and found and communicated with EVERY caterer on this island. I am so happy I chose EAT HONOLULU The Good * Jocelyn was so EASY and FUN to work with, she was cooperative and creative with what I wanted for the party and even helped me out according to my tight budget * Not to forget to mention she's a certified wine sommelier - so she helped me alot with selecting the wines for the party * Both Jocelyn and Chef David were very knowledgable about their tastes and foods that when they'd tell me about the great options I couldn't help but get excited and pee a little in my pants because I LOVE FOOD! * On the night of the party, they showed up and prepared everything on time. I really didn't have to do anything that night which was surprising because I was expecting to actually WORK instead of enjoying the party. I GOT TO ENJOY THE PARTY! *Their whole staff was attentive, friendly, professional, and enjoyable. * This was an all-pupu party. *Beef tataki was hands-down my favorite *Caprese Crostini was so good too! The Bad * The size of my stomach because I WANTED TO EAT MORE! The Weird * Literally everything I set into my mouth at the party was so delicious (as dirty as that sounds.. but it's true!!) I received countless compliments on how good the catering was for this party, and it just reassures me that I went with the right caterer :)!

Do you ever tell yourself not to do something bc you know better but then you find a way to do it…read moreanyway? Yep, that's the story of my TWO visits here! Lol So the story goes: I was checking out my Yeep-friends' reviews, check-ins, photos, and tips when I happened upon my fellow Yeep Cin T.'s reviews about this place called, "EAT"! Her amazing review is what pushed me over to go find this place! Thanks so much for your awesome meat-burger-filled review, Cin T.!!! OMGoodness for the aiyaiyai-YUM!!! :D I'm more of a lamb, turkey, fish, and veggie type of eater and it looked like I could make it work here :D The food selections and review descriptions most obviously intrigued me so I took a screen shot of the business page and general Yelp photos for a reminder of what's offered and decided to go in search of EAT next time I'm in town during the week day. First Visit - As good luck happened, they were still open at 1:30 p.m. (for some reason their Yelp page said they close at 2 but there I found out it's actually 3! Yay!) so I ventured a visit. I easily found parking conveniently in the GENTRY BUSINESS CENTER nka NA LIMA KUKUI lot where there are a lot of stalls, and walked right into the complex. EAT was easy to find right at the front as you enter the main open entrance area. I actually wanted to try the SURF N TURF with turkey patty substitute (for their yummy Kulana Beef) but they already had run out of turkey so I allowed myself to be swayed into trying their turkey club and then add a side of their soft shell crab. I placed my order with a side of SHOESTRING FRIES and a REFILLABLE BOTTOMLESS LEMONADE. The wait was pretty long but I guess they make it hot and fresh just like Jack (in-the-Box does) so it was absolutely worth the wait. TURKEY CLUB with SOFT SHELL CRAB SAND ($8.99 + $6.99 = $15.98!? crazy ugh) My concoction (bc I made it up the chef said!) was deeeeelicious! Needed to eat it with two hands to hold it all together! The great thing about it? Once I was done, the other half was ready to go! More Y-U-M! :D The turkey was soft, tasty deli meat. It's got nicely-seasoned good taste but just not my thing unless it's freshly-baked turkey meat. FRIES ($2.90) were ahhh just OK. I'm a major fries person (I'll eat them with chopsticks or fork if no chopsticks!) and there really needed to be more plus they really need to be cooked until crispy. Perhaps next time I'll remember to ask for extra crispy fries! .) LEMONADE ($2.75) Pleasant, fresh, delicious lemony taste! Worth it if it's endless refillable! Lemons are good for ya! :) Second Visit - I called 15 minutes ahead and ordered just the SOFT SHELL CRAB SANDWICH ($9.99) (with POLENTA FRIES, $3.75) bc again ...guess what? They ran out of fresh turkey burger patties! Wimper :( but oh well - There's always another lunch day, right!? :D Besides, this was a very good opportunity to try just the soft shell crab by itself (as Cin T. suggested). When I arrived after 20 minutes, it was just about ready to go and off I went headed to my work meeting! Awesome! Except for one thing! They forgot my polenta fries and I didn't have any time to wait! :/ You would think I'd learn my lesson by now, right?! Nope! Both visits the soft shell crab was so delicious - not oily but soft inside, a bit crunchy on the outside with the taste and feeling of comfort food when you're chewing it going down into the depths of your happy stomach lining...ahhhhh...! If only they were open right now as I'm reminiscing..I mean typing this! Anyway, the happy news is that I'm definitely going back (for guess whaaaat? Lol!) but next time I'm gonna call ahead in the morning or when they first open to order that dastardly jk! turkey patty as substitute for their Kulana beef patty to make my personal lol TURKEY PATTY SURF N TURF ($13.99 for me one of these days! Haha!) and hopefully, just hopefully, I'll finally get to try their awesome crunchy gotta-have POLENTA FRIES! Letcha know what happens at my impending third visit! I guess sometimes you just gotta do what your tummy wants you to do! Hahaha!! :D

When…read morewe got back in 2024, we had several boxes with considerable issues, missing protein, degraded packaging, rotting vegetables. It was impressively bad. I was looking to start again now in 2026, hoping the reviews would be better but appears there are the same issues as before. This was such a GREAT service, and living on mainland, i had access to ALL the services. I STILL considered this one of the best. Wondering how this company has fallen so far.

Very poor / slow customer service…read more My first order was delivered with no proteins (supposed to have steak, pork, and shrimp ... all I received was vegetables and meal cards / recipes.) There is no phone number to call, so I emailed them, and emailed again a couple of days later, and again a couple of days later. I did eventually hear back and was given a $30 dollar coupon for another order. Essentially I paid nearly $70 for about $25 worth of vegetables (for me to buy the missing proteins was almost $45). I did place a second order with the coupon and no issues with delivery on the second order. Pros: delivery is convenient, meals are not hard to make, instructions are pretty clear. Cons: POOR customer service, cannot include some meals from the regular menu and some from the gluten free (it is one or the other), meals are not overly flavorful, no cooling packs / ice in the delivery boxes and no effort to place the box in the shade on my porch (box was left in direct sun and was very warm when I got home -- likely effected quality of the vegetables)

I've always love their 5 spice chicken and order extra Tzatziki sauce (sooooo ono). I've lost a few very stubborn lbs using this meal plan! I also tried their green juices which were delicious too. I feel like I'm actually saving money by buying GCF meals, eating healthier, and still enjoying flavors on a diet :)

Happy Bento was more like a plate lunch place in a sense. I loved that they had so many local choices to choose from. You can see all their choices on their website. Some of the stand out meals were their Hawaiian plate, kalbi, tofu stir fry, and shrimp stir fry. There's something for everyone. I bought 10 meals. They ranged in price, but was around $15 a meal. My grandma said that they were delivered to her around 5 pm the day after I purchased it. She said that all of the food looked very good and it was delicious! She was very happy with it! I will definitely be ordering from here in the future if I ever need to send food to anyone on the island. It was such an easy process on their website and quick delivery was a plus! I ordered their Thanksgiving holiday box, and it exceeded my expectations! What you get from Kau Kau Box is a box (obvi) of chef-prepared meals, plus local eggs, fish, and produce. Vegetarian meals are available, too. There are pickups available for Tuesdays and Saturdays, each with different menus. You can purchase a subscription to save $$ or just purchase individual boxes as you need them. It has been on my radar screen for a while now, but I finally took the plunge, and I'm hooked. Pickup at Ala Moana was super easy. I drove up, gave them my name, opened my trunk, and was back on the road within seconds. The pickup location is off Atkinson, and it's easiest if you drive down Atkinson toward Ala Moana Blvd - the entrance is on your right, with Kau Kau Box signs to guide you. If you turn up Atkinson from Ala Moana, you have to make an awkward series of turns to get there. Delivery is also available for an additional fee. For Thanksgiving, the box $134 + tax) included 4 slices of roast turkey breast, 4 giant bone-in pork chops, mashed potatoes with caramelized onions, a savory bread pudding with butternut squash and manchego cheese - an elevated stuffing, turkey gravy, cranberry-orange sauce, spiced apple chutney, challah bread, jus for the pork, pumpkin crunch, a chunk of nairagi fish, 2 heads of lettuce, freshly-made croutons, cherry tomatoes, 2 avocados, 2 papaya, a butternut squash, and a dozen medium eggs. We are a family of 3 (2 adults, one 6yo), and this box has fed us for days. We got Thanksgiving dinner and Friday lunch out of the turkey, bread pudding, potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, and challah (I added some brussels sprouts). We got 2 dinners from the pork chops and salad/croutons (I added some mac and cheese). A couple breakfasts of avocado toast and papaya from the leftover challah and avocados (um, and also the pumpkin crunch). I still have the butternut squash to cook, and I stashed the fish in the freezer for later because I knew we'd already have days of food with everything else. When I opened the box, it seemed like way more than I was expecting. Everything comes in containers or vacuum-sealed packages for reheating. There are also instructions on reheating everything, so if you're not sure what should go together, you have help. Everything was labeled with best-by dates for both the fridge and the freezer. The menu and instructions also included a recipe for deviled eggs. Everything tasted so fresh and well-prepared, even the things I just microwaved. I LOVE to cook, and I cook at home most everyday, but this pandemic has just burned me out. I've been trying to limit my trips out and about, and planning meals 2-3 weeks in advance is a lot of mental labor. So I really appreciate meals that I don't have to think really hard about - maybe just a side here and there - and can be heated without hours of prepwork in the kitchen. Especially helpful for long days. And, maybe most importantly, it's all been delicious.

Our experience with Bobby started with private a tasting in their lounge of a few of the things we were hoping to have on our menu. We tried two mains, a salad and a few sides... when I say everything was a smash it, i really mean it! Our package included a third main and we honestly told him he could pick what to bring because obviously he knows how to cook- it'd be impossible to choose! For our wedding we had the kalbi shortribs, garlic shrimp, and huli huli chicken for our mains. Our salad was the one with the warm bacon dressing (OMG DELICIOUS), and we also had truffle mashed potatoes, a ratatouille, rice and i think 3 appetizers. It was ALL so good. Our guests have been raving about it since. Not only was the food to die for, but also the service before and during the wedding too! we had a few dietary restrictions to accommodate and Bobby was so easy to work with and already had ideas ready to go. Then there's the wait staff - who brought my husband and I full plates of everything first, before anyone else. So many people say they don't get to eat at their own weddings and they made sure that DIDNT happen to us. I was still so anxious that I didn't clear my plate but everything i DID eat was just as good as the tasting. The staff stayed and helped my coordinator for the rest of the night as well. After dinner they boxed up all the leftover food for us to take home and I was so happy for that! Since I didn't eat a ton at my own wedding I got to house all of the leftovers with our families. The taste, the value, the service... it really can't be beat. We've already decided we'll be tracking down his foodtruck whenever we can!
