Kung Fu Tea is a solid place to get bubble tea. There are better places, but I know that I can go to any Kung Fu Tea location and get a decent drink. I love their crystal boba. It's not as dense as the traditional boba, and it isn't as sweet as the popping boba. I get it with one of their milk teas. I usually do 30% sweet. My husband is partial to the strawberry milk slush with the grape popping boba. My kids love the mango slush with mango popping boba, although my son's new thing is the Oreo milk cap. We recently went to this location as it's closer to my in-law's house, and I thought boba tea would be a good option to get my father-in-law to drink more fluids. read more

Updated review: we love a good comeback story!! It's been quite some time since my first review and I'm glad post- COVID, this place really got their act together. Boba teas have been consistently on point and the tapioca balls are the right texture with the balance of chewiness and firmness and the right amount of honey in them. I typically get the taro jasmine milk tea and I ask for it less sweet with less ice as well. What I love about the menu now is actually the food options. They broke up with the Chinese take out options and honed into more Japanese options (hence Token Ramen within their name.) I am a Ramen snob (lol) but am actually a fan of their tonkatsu ramen and all of their rice bowls, particularly their eel bowl. My hubby and I often order their crab rangoons as an app to share. I love the vibe of this place- the music playlist is always fun and it's great how laid back it when we dine in. It's not too loud and not awkwardly quiet- We don't feel any pressure by the staff or other patrons when we bring our 6 month old in to sit with us while we eat. If you're getting anything beyond boba, the pricing does add up and can cost a pretty penny... but you can expect that from any Ramen place. This is a very creamy, sweet and spicy tea that I can easily imagine going with almost any meat and/or vegetable dish. I happened to be walking in the neighborhood and came across it. Perfect for quenching your thirst on a Florida spring (much less summer) day. They don't skimp on the ginger, either. An enjoyable place for boba and ramen! This is also called Token Ramen which was mainly what we came for, and the place definitely delivers! The portions are hefty. I liked the chicken katsu but was not a fan of the spicy curry. They have a heavy hand with the toppings (sprouts, corn, seaweed, etc.) and there is a good amount of noodles and meat. The boba is SO GOOD. Loved both the honey lemonade and the Oreo wow. My only gripe is that the place is a little messy. I can be forgiving of stacked new furniture in the corner and it looks like the tables and counters are generally kept clean. However, there were several dirty tables when we came in and it looks like the windows haven't been cleaned in a very long time. The ambiance is very chill and casual, so again, not a super big deal, but in this case it knocked a star off from my first impression. Overall I still recommend it here. This place has very affordable ramen at 13$ They serve you a huge bowl of ramen and the broth is to die for. A friend and I both agreed that we couldn't stop drinking the broth. The chicken in her ramen had such a light crispy crunch that really added a great texture with the noodles. My ramen had pork and it was juicy and flavorful. The bamboo shoots were soft. The soft boiled egg was perfect and melted in my mouth the way they should. My noodles were al dente and I didn't leave a single one left in my bowl. The establishment is clean while offering free wifi. I haven't tried the boba but I'm sure it's just as yummy. As we were leaving a huge rush of people came in so I know I'm not the only who thinks they are really good. We don't have many ramen shops in the area that offer a fair price so it's nice that they are centrally located to Pinellas and offer a fair priced great bowl of ramen. read more

This is a counter service restaurant, meaning you walk up to the counter, order and pay, and then the servers bring your food and drinks to your table if you're dining in. There is plenty of seating at both tables and booths. The drink menu is very expansive and I had to google what vegan options were. The folks behind the counter were able to assure me that the vegetable ramen was vegan, but I will say I'm a little suspicious about that and would love someone to confirm that it truly is vegan. Man I was sleeping on this place! Not only do they have amazing milk tea but the ramen is to die for! My boyfriend and I love a good meal after the gym so we purposely go to Amped next door so our option for food is Token Ramen. He got the Spicy Pork Curry Ramen and has gotten it a few times since as it is his favorite meal there! We got the ninja nuggets which are chicken nuggets without all the grease and they have a great dipping sauce for them. I got the Orange Chicken Bowl my first time here and a coconut milk tea and I was the happiest camper. The whole meal was delicious, from the chicken, to the rice and all the veggies inbetween - and don't forget the egg! Bro, we came in with fifteen minutes left on the clock. I apologize that we came so late. However, the employees smirked and made rude comments to us as we were ordering our drinks Then continued to make rude comments as they MADE our drinks. We didn't mean to show up so late, however if an establishment is meant to close at a certain time, they should be open till that set time. Me nor my friends appreciated the comments as they were all very vocal about how unhappy they seemed that customers were appearing a quarter before closing. I work in the food industry and we're taught to keep smiles on our face TILL THE OPEN SIGN TURNS OFF. If employees aren't fit for the environment that they are hired for, they should not be working as it effects the food industry culture. If your employees are not happy with closing at 10:30, they should not be on shift till 10:30. Five stars for their tea slushes. I am so jealous of the Pinellas Park area, it has MD Oriental and now Kung Fu Tea. Come to Westchase please! I saw a sign as I was pulling out of the parking lot that said Kung Fu Tea now open. I did a quick u turn and went in to grab a drink. This is a full restaurant too, but you can also order drinks at the counter to go. I asked if they had avocado, a favorite of mine. Alas, they don't, but they did have matcha red bean. I honestly thought it would be a weird mix of matcha and red bean, but what it means is matcha slush with red bean in it. I added tapioca because I'm baller like that. It was the perfect drink. The red bean added the right amount of sweetness and it had a strong matcha flavor. They have free wifi here. The tables are more restaurant like than quick service drink and hang out though so I would feel a little weird working here, but that's just me. I will be back every time I'm in the area. read more

This newly opened Kung Fu Tea location can be found in the same plaza as MD Oriental Market. I stopped by this tea house with my husband this evening, around 8 pm, after shopping at MD Oriental Market. After looking over the menu board, we ended up getting: Almond Milk Tea, $3.50 + $0.75 large size, prices prior to tax- I was told by the employee, who took our order, that the milk is made with powder and the almond flavor was made with syrup. I could tell that the milk powder must have been a milk substitute, like soy since it left this faint after taste of tofu. I did not like this drink. Wintermelon Green Tea, $3.50 + $0.75 large size, prices prior to tax- My husband ordered this drink and it also had the same off faint taste of soy. It was also overpowered by green tea and had very little wintermelon flavor. The flavors did not go well together at all. I would not recommend ordering this drink. --------------------------- (Total= $9.10 after tax) Both of our drinks were not fully sealed and so it leaked a little bit of milk tea on our car and made for a bit of a mess. Black garlic is one of the kind. It has the black sesame oil with black garlic on it. It is delicious. The calamari was fried very good with good coating. The reason they are upgraded is I make a challenge to their boba team. I ask a drink that partial in the menu but not totally in the menu. They have winter Mellon milk tea. Visited again recently after a long hiatus. Got a Thai tea with boba. Boba was fresh - very chewy. Drink was good. Also ordered some dumplings and an eel bowl. The dumplings were ok, would not order again. Eel bowl was good and definitely filling. My niece got the oolong milk tea and said it was delicious. Service was awesome. Everyone working there was very friendly and polite. We had no issues getting our drinks or food and didn't have to wait long at all. Will be back, the teas are worth coming back for. I visit the MD Market in this plaza at least once a week and the "opening soon" sign has been taunting me for so long that it became the norm. As always, this is the original milk tea spot that blends black tea with earl grey and adds honey scented black tapioca. Quiet enough to have conversations and this would be a great place to take a group of friends. Food: We have been looking for a Ramen place for a while and so far this is the only one in the area that we know of. The Ramen was excellent, the broth was flavorful, the pork cuts were great and the eggs were also good. I am not a fan of soft boiled eggs but their soft boiled eggs were cooked a little more firm which I appreciated. We frequent this place regularly now. Service: Great service. You order from the counter and then someone brings out your food. Most people leave there dishes at the table but some walk them over the trash area where they have spot for you to leave them. Boba tea has been my latest obsession for the last month. As such, I've been making my rounds at various shops offering my new favorite delicacy. I've noticed most places add a TON of sugar and that's saying a lot coming from me as a dessert connoisseur. I've developed the habit of asking for less sugar as a result so today I ordered a medium milk tea with Oreo bits, less ice, less sugar and boba pearls. I liked the way they cooked their boba as it was softer than others I've had. On the other hand, the tea taste was very strong and I wasn't used to that. It seems they have a different tea to milk ratio than other places I've tried. At any rate, I may go back and try something different, definitely not so bad that I'd write it off. It's also a lot closer to me than other boba spots. One last thing I'll add is their menu is very confusing. It would benefit from some simplification. read more

The Milk Cap Tea was SO good. The milk cap was fluffy and just a touch salty, but only enough to add a bit of flavor and an element of depth. It also had little flavorful chunks of pineapple. I highly recommend! The food was pretty good but not earth shattering. Nice to know there's another Kung Fu Tea in Tampa Bay. I go to East Tampa more often so I'll still frequent the other location more, however if I'm in the area I'll always stop in. Also If a get a craving for good boba (unfortunately there isn't anything close to home that comes close to being as good...and close would be oldsmar, Westcase, citrus park, town & country or even Carrollwood) I'd drive here if I don't have business in East Tampa. I haven't ordered the food but glad to know that I can get all the cheers options here as well. The biggest downfall is that this is in a plaza and there is no drive thru. I love a drive thru. Bubble tea is something I always get when I'm out running errands so after hopping in and out of my car a million times it's nice to get my drink at a drive thru. It looks like there's no hope for this location getting one since it's a middle business in a shopping plaza strip. Initially I came here for ramen, but I got hibachi chicken instead... The inside of the restaurant is very clean and organized, I think the only thing missing was some music. There weren't many people sitting down for food, however, a lot of people came in for their boba tea. The hibachi chicken came with miso soup and white rice, you can replace the white rice for fried rice or noodles for an additional dollar. I stuck with the white rice. The chicken tasted fresh, not over seasoned. I asked for spicy, which was great. The miso soup tasted just like any miso soup I've had. I normally get it with half sugar with any milk tea flavors because it does tend to be quite sweet. I was excited to try this newly opened boba shop because right off the bat, looking on the inside, it did not look like any other boba shop I've been too. It was so beautiful! Definitely a great place for college students to study or relax. But enough about the setting! Let's talk about their boba teas. I ordered the Kung Fu Milk Tea and the Strawberry Milk Slush (both with boba) and man, they were overall delicious! The boba itself was sweet and perfectly cooked (this is what makes boba teas turn out great). Also, I particularly LOVED their Strawberry Slush! It's tasty but a little bit sweeter than normal strawberry milk teas I've tried. If you don't like your slush extra sweet, you can always let them know to ease up on their sugar. The Kung Fu Tea was great as well! Side note- they serve food here as well!!! From what I saw, they serve appetizers, entrees, and ramen. Unfortunately, I was not able to order any as I was in a rush to get home but will definitely will do so next time. Lastly, they are conveniently located near an oriental store! A boba shop near an oriental store is my jam! I can do my groceries and then later have lunch, dinner or simply boba right after. So big thumbs up for that! Overall, I'm glad to have gone here.
