Amazing coffee! I got the turmeric latte- note there is no caffeine in it- but added a shot with two pumps of hazelnut and good God! It's soooo good. Beautiful shop. Lots of seating and the food looks good even though i haven't tried it yet.

Service was kind and patient! I'm always nervous taking too long when I try a new cafe but they were helpful with my order. It's off Central so it's a busy spot for sure. I wouldn't go if you struggle to focus in high traffic areas. I had a spot at the counter with an outlet which was great. Garage style doors were open so it's a little muggy but that would be nice in the winter. Breakfast grits bowl could use some salt mixed in with the grits. It was pretty bland even with the cheese and bacon. Maybe some gravy would help.

Southern Grounds is a vibe! I went to the soft opening, and also went shortly after for brunch. The food is fantastic- everything on the menu is so fresh. I had the brunch burger w/ fries and didn't leave feeling bloated at all- which is a testament to how fresh it is! Located in DTSP, Southern Grounds is steps away from entertainment, bars and art. Speaking of art, Matt Kress has beautiful art that accentuates the space. The owners did a good, intentional job with Southern Grounds, I see this being a successful spot in St. Pete. YUM!

Stopped in for a quick bite and ordered the avocado toast with a coffee. The toast was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented -- I just would've preferred a touch more black pepper for balance. The coffee paired nicely and was well-prepared. The ambience is lovely -- calm, low-key, and thoughtfully decorated, making it an ideal spot to relax or catch up with a friend. It's a little pricey so just be aware of that right now. I feel like everything's gotten way out of control. Overall, a great experience and worth a visit if you're in the area.

I like to try new coffee shops within 20 miles of me, lol. Early reviews were excellent for here, so we gave it a try this morning. It's always rare for a coffee shop to be in the 5-star range. But this one belongs there. It's new, clean, & sharp, with lots of room inside & out. The workers were welcoming & the flavors for lattes exceeded what many places offer. I normally shy away from fruit flavored lattes, as the pairing with coffee doesn't always mix well...or so I thought. The worker said their blackberry flavoring was housemade & very good. I ordered that, & she was right! It wasn't grossly sweet. Instead it was mellow & flavorful. I didn't order food, but the menu looked amazing. I shall return yet again.

Love that this place opened. The staff is cheerful and helpful. Carissa is phenomenal. The matcha latte is tasty. The burrito is huge and tasty. I love the art on the walls. Good hours. Fun space. Welcome to town.

Ordered the breakfast burrito and honestly it surprised me t was so good. Staff and service were a solid 10/10 as well. The ambiance was great, plenty of space, and overall a really nice vibe. Definitely coming back!

A little late posting this review, but I went to the soft opening for Southern Grounds and loved it! The vibe was amazing. There was a DJ, great food, delicious coffee, and excellent drinks. This is exactly what St. Pete needed, a coffee shop with good food that stays open later! Where are people supposed to work past 3 or 5 o'clock otherwise? So glad to have them in town! The location is perfect and I know they are going to thrive. I hope they keep bringing in live music in the evenings and on weekends. It really adds to the experience!

They are massive and delicious, plenty of options to choose from too! My favorite was the Florida cream and almond cheesecake, French toast was fun too! The dough of the donuts is soft, pillowy, delicious and weirdly enough gluten or bread items usually hurt me, but weirdly i had no issues having their donuts . Their Ube coffee was a treat, unusual, delicious and not too sweet! The vibe is so cool, but not really a sit down spot, more of a pickup spot. The service is exceptional, friendly, attentive, quick and overall enjoyable an experience. I love this place and cant wait to try other seasonal flavors . Go check them out, you wont regret it!

To start, Maddie's Cakes indicated that it opened at 5pm, leading us to believe that it serviced the late-night coffee-and-pastries crowd. Baked in the Burg opens at 10am and closes at 7pm, and has a very different vibe than what we were expecting. The pastries are definitely meant to be the star of the show, but they were mislabeled (labeled as chocolate pistachio but only chocolate was available), and the baristas knew very little about the product. Speaking of the baristas, although they were very friendly, they clearly were woefully lacking in training. I ordered a chai tea, and one of the baristas asked the other, "Do you know how to make that?" Additionally, my mom ordered a coffee, and when she asked if the brew coffee sitting on the hot plate was fresh, the barista answered, "It was made this morning [seven hours prior to our visit], but it's been on the hot plate." My mom had to ask for a fresh pot to be made, because apparently no one told these poor girls how disgusting coffee is after seven hours on a hot plate. To their credit, though, they were extremely friendly and accommodating, and did their best to answer all of our questions. I just think they need more training. As far as the pastries are concerned, we were so disappointed that we ended up going to Sorrento Sweets right up the street. Skip Baked in the Burg and head to Sorrento's if you want a high-quality bakery experience.

We went straight to Chiki Churros, a spot that is known for delicious freshly made on the spot churros as well as ice cream, drinks and milkshakes. They have a tv screen that leaves you drooling (like an eye appetizer - eye-petizer?) and while they're made and prepared right in front of you, your nose ends up going through a food comma with the cinnamon and sugar aroma while your eyes feast on all the toppings and fantasize about when YOUR turn to eat churros will be. Because we were so stuffed from our food, we only opted for the 6 pack of churros so we could enjoy one each with the two dips option. Naturally we chose Nutella as one of them and Dulce de leche for the other one. The churros were nice and warm and fried to perfection while the nutella did its thing a coated the outer layer of the churros as they got dunked into that little pool of delicious hazelnut spread and went straight to your taste buds so they can do a little happy dance. We loved our little dessert night cap at Chiki Churros and all the bright and colorful walls with churro wall of fame decor. Each time I've just gotten the 3 churros 1 dip combo for a well earned $6 (usually dulce de leche dip though I want to try the fudge next time as I'm not a huge nutella person but it feels like they should go with chocolate). There's actually a pretty extensive menu with lots of dips and toppings, ice cream, milkshakes, etc but I don't know how anything can be better than the classic formula. Churros always come out warm with a perfect crisp on the outside and soft inside. couldn't ask for anything more. Pretty small inside with some stools to sit on but they also have an outdoor area in the back with several tables. It can get a little crowded inside but usually I'm too distracted by the cinnamon sugar bliss to care.
