Unfortunately I was very disappointed. I arrived at this bakery with high hopes and they had so many pastries available so close to closing time there was plenty to choose from. They offered a deal on the donuts, buy 3 for the price of 1 so how could I say no. I got the Ube, which was good but did not taste anything like Ube. The blueberry lemon, this on was filled with super artificial lemon jam that resembled the taste of soap. The churro and cookies and cream, were too overly sweet which could be some peoples jams just not mine. The last donut I purchased was the peanut butter Chocolate pretzel, now this one was so pretty but it tasted very stale. Besides the donuts I also purchased the orange chocolate flourless cake which was fine, I wouldn't purchase again but I don't regret trying it. The cookie butter blondie though was very very good. In the display case all the pastries it listed prices that were quite high it almost steered me away from picking what I wanted. I've been scoping out Valhalla's IG for some time and they had a guava rose cake slice that called my name. Too bad it was gone when I got there, but I was able to try the rose icing which they added on to the pistachio bar. I was a bit nervous to try this after I picked it out. I was worried about the texture and if it would be too hard for my teeth. That was not the case it all. It had a nice texture to it and it was chewy, not sharp. Just perfect. It was quite nice with rose frosting. It complimented it quite well. It's a bit sweet so I definitely mad sure to eat it in portions and have a few servings out of it. They also had red velvet Oreo cake. My husband loves red velvet. Valhalla is vegan so the texture is a little different than he is use to. It was very good and definitely was a winner. Valhalla has a nice couch inside to enjoy your sweets. They also have a vegan diner attached to it. I didn't get a chance to check out their offerings. I had seen this bakery on Yelp and saved it based on the reviews. It looks like there are two sides to this business but currently one is closed down and blocked off. The bakery is to-go only right now and has their cute couch and mural area blocked off. The shop is super cute and their plant sign made me laugh really hard. The employees said they think the owner had the sign made when I asked where they got it. Everything in the display cases looked so tasty but I quickly made my decision when I saw the pistachio rose cake. I just love pistachios in desserts so that made the decision making a little easier. The employees were nice and had bubbly personalities. I took a small bite outside when I took the cake piece out for the picture and oh my goodness, it was so good. The cake is pretty dense and the frosting light and fluffy. I restrained myself to just a few small bites and kept the right for when I got home. After a Rays game, I was craving something sweet. So, I dragged my boyfriend with me to Valhalla Bakery to give it a try. Once we walked in, the girl behind the counter was very friendly and allowed us time to decide what we wanted to try. My boyfriend got the Cinnamon Bun and I got the two Chocolate Chips Cookies smashed with some Frosting in the middle. Once we got home, I devoured my cookie sandwich. It was so, so good! This was a random Sunday funday stop. Never been here before but so glad we stopped by. The donuts were soooooooo sooooooo good. We came late so there wasn't much variety left but I'm always good to go with a classic glaze. The donuts were huge too! We also grabbed a double chocolate cookie with sea salt and a coffee cake. Both were great. Randomly when checking out, the cashier and I locked eyes, but in the middle there was a giant fuzzy caterpillar. Scared me for a second actually hahaha! I didn't know until after we ate our desserts and my friend told me. The desserts were dense and moist, and above all, full of flavor. Check their social media for the revolving menu of sweets. On weekends, they sell donuts (that I wish they had everyday, but oh well). On my visit, I grabbed: - Gayke: a rainbow-colored 5 layer cake with a sour rainbow candy strip on the top. The cake is dense and not overly sweet. It's a celebration of flavor and the LGBTQ community that proudly makes up St. Pete. - Death Bar: a layered bar consisting of brownie, peanut butter mousse, Oreo crumbles and chocolate drizzle. This is one of the richer desserts, but still, it's not too much to eat. If you like chocolate and peanut butter flavors together, this is the dessert for you. - Kitchen Sink cookie: I could eat a dozen of these cookies EASY. This is a chocolate chip cookie with sea salt, pretzel, and almonds... everything and the kitchen sink! The cookie is moist and baked to perfection. For a quick treat on the go, grab a cookie! A cute little pastery shop. Tastefully decorated in that St Peats way that we are comfortable with. Right on Central ave with lots of other places to shop and eat. Plenty of street parking too. Don't take my word for it but one try yourself and you will understand how awesome this place is! In my humble opinion, it is a top contender for a bakery (vegan or not) in St. Pete. Every delightful concoction is made with optimal taste and texture. This bakery also has some non-sweet/dessert handheld items such as bagel dogs and puff pastry squares with savory fillings. The current bakery space is so cute and they are adjacent/connected to Lucy's, with an eat-in counter in between. The decor is chic and aesthetically pleasing plants and an adorable green velvet couch in the seating area which is currently off limits during these COVID times (late Nov. 2020). I really enjoy each and every visit here getting to enjoy each of their delectable offerings!!!! On my most recent visit I snagged a S'mores Bar, A Mini Pumpkin Loaf, and a Pumpkin Streusel Bar. I loved the seasonal pumpkin treats, they were composed and consisted of fresh and flavorful ingredients. So much so that they tasted as fresh as I imagined the day I bought them. The S'mores Bar is a monster of a bar with a cookie base and layers with marshmallow. It is seriously divine. It's a plant-based paradise! We're fasting for lent and even if you're not vegan or fasting, I highly recommend you grab some baked goods from here. It's that good! We confirmed on our last visit after buying almost everything: IT'S ALL VEGAN! Yes, the cake, the cookies, the breakfast pockets, even the sausage roll! Everything is very good with only a couple misses. The four of us tried dang near 15 desserts and the only items we didn't love were the grapefruit bar (was lacking flavor) and the breakfast pocket (had some spices that weren't jiving). But literally everything else was worth it! There's not much seating inside but they do have lots of outdoor seating. The staff is also very friendly and helpful with our allergies. They are taking covid very seriously here and putting a limit to the capacity. I'm telling you, if you had to get anything-- you MUST try the pistachio rose bar. The consistency and flavor are so incredible that I wish I ordered more. The blondie came in close second since they really nailed the flavor as well. The death by chocolate bar was yummy but a bit too rich for me and the key lime was good but as expected. I first experienced Valhalla Bakery and their YOLOs in Orlando's Milk District as part of Market on South. I loved the vegan without seeming vegan look and taste that they were able to create. Unfortunately, Orlando is like a world away with young kids so Valhalla and I haven't spent nearly as much time together as I would've liked. When they opened a second location in St. Pete, I was stoked. Drive time was cut in half and there was finally a vegan bakery in the Bay area that I knew I could trust (let's face it, vegan baked goods are hard to conquer and there are a lot of bad ones out there). Currently, due to Covid-19 precautions, Valhalla Bakery is only allowing five customers in their bakery at a time. That meant that when I first arrived I had to spend a few minutes waiting in a line outside. Once inside, there were clearly marked boxes on the ground to stand in to keep a distance from other customers. With no menu anywhere and unable to see the bakery case from way back it was like a Christmas surprise when it was your time to order. If you can think of a baked good, they had it. Cupcakes, YOLOs, cookies, tarts, handpies, cake slices, sticky buns, I really could've ordered some of everything. As it was I walked out with an Oreo Sticky Bun, carrot cake slice, lavender cookie and peaches and cream handpie. My wife and I started with carrot cake. Oh my! Creamy icing, fluffy cake in multiple layers. It was a bit sweet but that just meant we couldn't eat it all in one sitting. The Oreo Bun is a dessert I have never come across before. Is anyone else doing this? I love sticky buns, Oreos are occasionally fun, so why not? While sweet, this one was more muted than the cake. Nice and sticky and soft with an Oreo aftertaste. Well done! The lavender cookie was a sugar cookie with a lavender aftertaste. I'm a huge lavender fan so this made me so happy. Sugary, soft, and it meltef in my mouth. My favorite was the peaches and cream handpie. A perfect balance of sweet, fruity and crusty. No weird aftertaste like some of the handpies I have had in the past. Valhalla Bakery is a great bakery whether you are vegan or not. The fact that it is all vegan makes it even more impressive! First things first I'm no stranger to Valhalla. I've visited the one in Orlando numerous times but this was my first time at the St. Pete location. The shop itself is super cute and trendy. The customer service here is worth 5 stars alone! I opted for sweet and savory (as there were endless options to choose from). For the savory choices I got the cheddar scone and two pizza rolls. Truthfully, the scone was NOT hitting. I was told it was similar to red lobster cheddar bay biscuits.....nah. I detected a sweet taste that definitely didn't work with the garlic and cheddar flavors. But the pizza rolls??? Bay-bay 10/10. Give them a try and thank me later Now for the sweet choices, I chose the strawberry funfetti cake, a chocolate and guava cupcake, and an Apple fritter. The winner is fo sho the apple fritter. Just an enjoyable sweet experience of cinnamon,brown sugar, and apple-y goodness. Do yourself a favor and get this during your visit. The other items honestly were lackluster. I wouldn't get them again. **Something worth noting, during my visit they had a sign saying they were not warming up the items. Holy Goodness. This is another amazing destination in the Grand Central District. The bakery features beautiful sweets and savory classics. The decor is stunning. The guava pastillito and almond apple frangipane caught my attention. But then, the classic monkey bread with it's ridges drenched in icing also earned a high honorable mention. Trying to find something for lunch in St. Pete, I accidentally found this super cute, super pink (on the inside) gem! The BEST part about this bakery? EVERYTHING inside is VEGAN! So feel free to order 1 of everything GUILT FREE ;) They have sweet and savory items that will satisfy whatever craving you have at the moment. I picked a few things to try out while I was there; and trust me y'all, they did NOT make it easy, as everything behind the case was calling my name! Luckily, I was there on a Wednesday and learned that on Wednesday's, you can get FOUR cookies for $6 instead of THREE (how did I get SO lucky?)! Made my decision on what to choose a little easier. I'll start with the S'mores Bar: it's exactly how it sounds. Yes, s'mores jam packed into a hearty bar that's way less messy than actual s'mores, but has the same great flavor! The top and bottom have this blondie mixed with graham cracker taste with that sweet chocolate and ooey gooey marshmallow middle, MMM! I popped mine in the microwave for a few seconds & man, it just took it to the next level! Next, the three different cookies I ate were the (seasonal) Strawberry Valentine Cookie, 2 Traditional Chocolate Chip and the Salted Double Dark Chocolate. Let's start with the Strawberry Valentine's Day cookie: the PERFECT amount of strawberry flavor; not overpowering! Sometimes, I feel like sprinkles take away from treats... but the sprinkle amount was just enough to add that crunch texture need for this super soft and fluffy cookie! The Traditional Chocolate Chunk cookie: always a classic I go for, and they did not disappoint! As soon as I picked up the cookie, it slowly started to droop which means it was baked to the texture I love! The chocolate chucks were in there sparingly; so if you're a super chocolate chuck lover, this is NOT the cookie for you (which means more for me) ;P And lastly, the Salted Double Dark Chocolate cookie: now if you're not a dark chocolate lover, just exit out my review, you've read enough! But if you are, welcome to the dark side ;) This cookie reminds me a lot of the same texture of the Traditional Chocolate Chunk, just replace the regular cookie part and add dark chocolate. It is RICH, with that pinch of salt needed to tone down a little of the sweetness. This isn't the super sweet cookie you eat after dinner... This is the kind of cookie you can eat with your coffee in the morning! (You're welcome by the way, I just gave you permission to eat cookies for breakfast ;)). Exceptionally torn as I write this review as we had very mixed feelings in our house about the baked goods I bought the other day. In full transparency, neither of us is vegan. With a in culinary arts and weddings I have eaten and made my fair share of vegan foods - NONE of the comments are a reflection of the products being vegan. A - They get bonus points for supporting the LGBTQ and BLM communities - your support really shows! Truly why they got bumped to a 4th Start B- They get big points for going cashless as a COVID-19 precaution. However, the same person handling food for customers, is also answering the telephone the next second. And when pulling pastry out of the case for me I realized she was setting it on a counter behind her with a food smear across it. C- Really bummed to walk in on Donut Day and find out they only have Donuts on weekends! I bought four items - Spinach and Artichoke Hand Pie - It was nicely browned and topped with a sprinkle if what looked like Everything Bagel seasoning. The texture was nice but the filling was odd. it really lacked flavor and had zero texture - it was just mush. Earl Grey Scone - this was truly the one standout item. It was good size with a wonderfully crumbly texture, the tea flavor came through with a touch of sweetness from the glaze. Definitely my go-to item if I go back. Chocolate Chunk Cookie - I bought this for my husband who is a chocoholic. I looked at other available chocolate options but nearly everything had a fruit or other flavor infused. The cookie had a nice texture and a decent amount of chocolate chunks but not much flavor, it had no sweetness or vanilla or really anything. Lastly, I bought a heart shaped Cherry Hand Pie - it had a cute red and white glaze with Valentine's Day sprinkles. The cherry filling was flavorful with some noticeable bits of cherry for texture. It was something I would order again. I know it was Valentine's week and they were probably gearing up for a crazy busy weekend... but things were kind of all over the place. A go-to is also the guava pastelitos! So good. Love their cookies too. Today, I was the one to run in while she and the kiddo stayed in the car. I definitely could have very easily gone kind of crazy and come out with an embarrassing amount of baked goods in hand. Instead, I tried to keep it reasonable and just grabbed a few things. The highlight for me was the cookie butter blondie. We've had that before and I could never have told you that it wasn't made with dairy. Everything about it is delicious and I could eat one every day. There was some kind of cream filled donut that as also quite tasty. She explained to me what it was - I heard vanilla, cream and then I blacked out for the last couple of things because I was already sold. The cinnamon roll was solid.
