The waffle cone piece as a garnish was a nice touch! This place had about a dozen flavors, and a couple vegan ones in addition. Plenty to choose from! Even though I love peanut butter, I usually avoid getting it as ice cream because it all tastes the same to me. This one though, I can imagine even non-peanut butter lovers liking this! It's super creamy and decadent, a lot lighter on the peanut flavor too. The jam goes perfectly with it, and I love how there's little gooey splotches of it throughout. Today we ordered cafe Affogato's, one with espresso Kabul's ice cream and one with coffee toffee. We ordered a magic bar which is a dessert bar with chocolate chips coconut and a few other tasty things. We also ordered a scoop of pineapple brown butter and pecan ice cream which is delightful. They allow you to taste as many flavors as you would like to. We limited ourselves to just a few and AMAZING! They offer both indoor and outdoor seating and this is decorated beautifully with a rainbow colored accent wall with couches lining the walls, small tables and chairs inside. Very tasty local ice cream shop. We've been to their other location in Pinellas Park, so we were delighted to find that there's a sister location slightly closer to the beach. We went in close to closing time (they close at 10pm on Sundays), but the place still had a bunch of customers, and the staff was still alert and friendly and moving quickly. Mind you, going at the end of the day means that some flavors are out. But it's nice to know that you can slip in the door at 9:45 and still get service. I got a scoop of the roasted strawberry with brown sugar and balsalmic ice cream. It was smooth and creamy, and not too sweet. It tasted similar to a good-quality strawberry jam. I tasted my daughter's caramelized pineapple with brown sugar and pecans ice cream, and it was absolutely delicious. I liked that the pecans were crunchy (so many nuts in ice cream get soggy). We bought a pint of coffee toffee to bring home from a previous good experience. I'm so excited to learn that they have a Tampa location, because we're definitely going there. read more

Bright Ice is located on the corner of 37th Street North and 5th Avenue North, an easy find. This newly opened ice cream store (a little more than a month now) has some tasty ice cream flavors (some of which are vegan friendly), pastries and affogato (ice cream with a shot of espresso). After tasting 2 flavors of ice cream (we were greeted by 2 friendly employees when my husband and I came in and were told that we could try any samples), we ended up getting: Double Scoop, $5.35 after tax- We picked roasted strawberry w/ brown sugar & balsamic and brownies & cream. There is a vegan version of the roasted strawberry with brown sugar and balsamic but I didn't try it (according to one of the employees, it is made with rice milk). I liked this flavor and thought it wasn't too sweet. The brownies and cream had pieces of their brownies, which you can also purchase if you would prefer the baked dessert. A good choice to go with too. Since this place has an outdoor (covered) seating, we brought our little girl dog with us. She seemed to like the cream part of the brownie and cream (remember friends, chocolate is a no- no for any animal). I liked that there is plenty of seating outside but there is also a good amount of seating inside too if you prefer to sit there. There is limited parking on either side (off of 37th Street North or 5th Avenue North). Er mah gerd! This is some of the best ice cream I've had. The offered flavor combos made it tough to narrow it down to one (my own limitation admittedly!). I mean which would you choose between caramelized bananas with peanut butter and honey, carrot cake, deepest darkest chocolate secret, sea salt caramel, etc.? In the end I went with blueberry and cinnamon while taking tastes of the caramelized banana from my wife's cone! I LOVE that they offer tastes using metal spoons rather than a bunch of little plastic throwaway spoons. A colleague recommended Bright Ice to me a day before I got confirmed for the Yelp event, so I believe it's meant to be. I LOVE ice cream to the point where it's almost an addiction. As I walked into the shop i felt strong withdrawals overwhelming my senses, my mouth started salivating but luckily I was wearing a mask so I was discreet. I opted for the two vegan options since dairy has the tendency to upset my stomach. Man was the ice cream good though, it gave a high like I've never felt before. I believe I may have finally found my ice cream place in the Tampa/St Pete area. My husband & I are all over the area when we visit so their 3 locations (DT Tampa, St. Pete & Pinellas Park) are very convenient for us. The flavors are inspired and more importantly, done extremely well. We happened to visit the St. Pete location this time around. It's a small but charmingly decorated scoop shop with a few seats in the main area, counter seating with stools along part of the front window area, and a cute covered patio area outside. We even spotted some baked goods for sale if someone in your party happened to not be in the mood for ice cream (but seriously who could resist trying these flavors?). There are usual flavors (called "Always Flavors ") & a rotating list of seasonally inspired flavors. They even have Vegans out there covered. We really couldn't decide on which flavors to try so we ordered five in all haha (one triple scoop & one double scoop). (Note: They do allow sampling but we live dangerously.) Flavors we devoured in no particular order: Lemon with Crystallized Ginger, Roasted Strawberries with Brown Sugar & Balsamic, Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip (and there was definitely peanut butter in this one), Blueberries with Cinnamon and Pineapple with Brown Butter & Pecans. Oh. My. God. Pure creamy, silky, smooth ice cream heaven! We will definitely be back.
