The hurricanes totally wiped out The Candy Kitchen, but they are back! Just as good as before, but with higher prices which was to be expected. $12.99 lb on my favorite: Licorice Snaps. First introduced by The American Licorice Company in the 1930's, Snaps went on hiatus in 2009. But The Candy Kitchen makes their own version and as far as I know, Snaps are available no where else. read more

Outside seating was creative, sort of long line but you can't help that. The indoor was cool with a nice breeze. The names everywhere made it seem popular. The pez on the counter was cool. Lots of candies for sale. I got the orange pineapple one scoop waffle cone, it was very rich, creamy and smooth. And the waffle cone was very good. The workers were very hard at work and seemed to love their job. Very good. Definitely recommend. read more

The original candy kitchen is back after the hurricanes, yay! We haven't been out to the beaches since before the October storms and decided to go for a ride and visit some local businesses. While it is a little different, because they did have to clean up, they still carry retro candy, fudge, ice cream and a bunch of wacky sodas and Asian candy. Stop by for a visit and a treat! read more

The Candy Kitchen - Madeira Beach, Florida At least twice a year, our family makes a point to stop at The Candy Kitchen, and it never disappoints. When we can squeeze into the original store -- small, crowded, and wonderfully cozy -- it feels like stepping straight into a slice of old‑Florida nostalgia. The newer location is fantastic too, but there's something about the original that just hits differently. The assortment of candy and small toys is endless, like a treasure hunt for kids and adults alike. And the ice cream selection? Easily the best around. The flavors are bold, creamy, and consistently top‑tier. This place is a wonderland of vintage charm, packed with color, character, and that old‑school candy‑shop fantasy you don't find many places anymore. If you're anywhere near Madeira Beach, The Candy Kitchen is an absolute must‑visit. read more

We visited here on spring break. It had a great atmosphere and delicious ice cream. We beat the rush around sundown but still had to wait in line. Once we got into the store, it was full of old time candy from my childhood. Even though there was a line, the server took his time and helped us find the perfect order. He offered suggestion to my wife as they out tighter the prefect milkshake. I ordered a single serving on a waffle cone. The serving was very generous. Not to be outdone, my son orders the double. It was a mountain of ice cream! The server was kind and engaging. He made us feel like we were his only customers. Again, the ice cream was delicious. And the atmosphere was fun. We will definitely be back. read more

We went this evening to the Candy Kitchen It's a little candy shop/ice cream joint in Madeira Beach It's tiny in size so not much room to have multiple customers .... It's got a ton of candy and chocolates from my past and some newer ones They have some neat little toys from Care Bears to some Funko pops of the past The highlight is the ice cream When you ask for a single scoop.....well let's just saw it's more like a double No complaints here My wife had a single cup of cookies and cream I had mocha chocolate chip Only thing is that it melted fast in the evening heat but it tasted great Staff there was friendly and cool Great lil spot for sweets and ice cream read more

Y'all. The Candy Kitchen is a South Pinellas County treasure. I don't know when it originally came to be but it's OLD. And still worth a visit. Our kids were BLOWN away by the selection and my husband had a blast getting Jelly Beans. The staff were two very friendly young girls who joked with us about the things adults choose versus kids. What a selection guys. I mean ice cream, candy, Chocolate, gum, very nostalgic and gave me all the feels about childhood. Get into The Candy Kitchen so you don't regret missing out!!!! read more

Been driving by this forever (40 plus years) and finally stopped. THEY MAKE THEIR OWN ICE CREAM. Delicious and open since 1950. Every type of candy you can remember having as a kid even candy cigarettes, had to laugh. Only one person behind the counter but very organized, pleasant and efficient in keeping the line moving. I have been missing out, will be back. read more

A cute little place that has all sorts of candy selection. I haven't seen some of these varieties in years! They also have fudge and taffy. Checking out, the owner had one of his kids ring up my items but the process was super slow. Perhaps he could have helped him a bit instead of letting him go it alone. read more

We come here whenever we visit Florida, which has been roughly once every three years. There's nothing new I can add that hasn't already been stated, so here are my favorites... - Ice cream (Oreo and peanut butter) - Pez dispenser collection - Fudge - Obscure candy options (cricket lollypops) - The candy wrapper bathroom (outside) This place is a family tradition and will continue to be as long as it's here! You should stop in and make it a tradition for your family as well. read more

The candy kitchen is one of those places that has just always been there for as long as you can remember. This place is a very small hole in the wall that, if you're driving and you blink, you'll miss it. There is very limited parking so be ready to look around if you can't find any in the lot! The interior of this place is really cool and themed with the copious amounts of old candy, that it'll make you forget you're in 2019. The prices for the candy here are ridiculously reasonable and they even offer bulk candy and candy by the pound. The ice cream is the best thing about this place though, I got the strawberry oreo ice cream and it was delicious! It was the perfect amount of creamy and for $4 the amount you get is insane! They have many different flavors such as butter pecan and coffee&doughnuts so be ready to have choices! It is a very small place with MAYBE 7-8 people being able to be inside at one time. Friendly staff and great prices! read more

Incredibly slow, and while three people were working, only one was scooping ice cream while the other two milled around waiting to ring people up. Then a woman 6 customers behind us came in to ask about peanuts in the ice cream and the person scooping ice cream stopped for about ten minutes to answer her questions while the rest of us waited (including the two non-working employees). This ice cream is not worth a 45 minute wait with inefficient workers who either work slowly, or mill around while one person works. read more

I do not recommend this ice cream shop to anyone who cares about getting great customer service. There are long lines outside for ice cream that you can get at other places in Madeira Beach for more reasonable prices, and they have an extremely rude, young blond male employee. The owners need to have a blunt conversation with this blond teenage male staffer who insulted my daughter my calling her a scammer from behind the counter, after she merely asked to add a brownie to her sundae. The girl serving ice cream was very nice and told us how it would be less expensive to buy a brownie sundae. Then the blond male staffer started running his mouth, calling her a scammer and proceeded to the back room (still in earshot of all customers in this very small store), going on and on about how she was "trying to scam" them by adding more items to her sundae. Perhaps he is in the family line-up to be the next owner? I surely hope not because this employee's loud, obnoxious behavior is unacceptable for any type of business, especially a family owned business that promotes itself as family friendly--it is not! read more

Not much to look at from the outside but once you walk in that view changes! Variety of candies and sweets that you can only imagine exist. From pickle juice soda to chocolate brownies it has it all. Most importantly the ice cream comes in so many different flavors. Original flavors such as chocolate and peanut butter to unique custom flavors like Smurf and Superman. Definitely worth the price to get a scoop a must get if your in the area! read more

The Candy Kitchen - Sweet time! - Candy Stores Near Me - Madeira Beach, Florida

We are regulars to the candy kitchen for decades. It is our "to go" place for ice cream as a family for years. Last Wednesday we were there, again, for the ice cream! We just couldn't believe the size of the ice cream. They just cut down the portion 2/3 of its usual size. Do they think the customers are idiots and wouldn't notice the enormous "size cut down" It was absolutely ridiculous! No more The Candy Kitchen for us! We could not believe our eyes. They look like kid's size ice cream! read more

The Candy Kitchen - Marshmallow sunday - Candy Stores Near Me - Madeira Beach, Florida

Stopped in on a recommendation, especially since we were craving fudge. Though they had quite the variety of candy here, I was kind of surprised at the lack of chocolate. My boyfriend's brother (who has a peanut allergy) asked for a piece of chocolate Oreo fudge, and when we had already left and took a bite, he quickly realized he had been given peanut butter Oreo fudge. There were definitely two different kinds in the case, and though it was an innocent mistake, it was disappointing. Regardless, the fudge wasn't too great overall. I ordered their big mouth ice cream sandwich, which is covered in chocolate, and my boyfriend had the frozen banana. They were okay, but the chocolate coating tasted cheap. It's too bad, because it comes off as a really cute place, but if we return to the area, we won't be returning. read more

The Candy Kitchen is one of those fun places that can't be missed when you're in the area! It's a very small place that serves up creamy, delicious homemade ice cream, bottled sodas from all over the U.S. and a variety of candy. Much of the candy is candy that you just can't find everyday so I recommend you buying some of it try if you haven't tried it before. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The little Candy Kitchen has been here for a long time and has all the charm that you could imagine with old and new candies along with malts, shakes and floats. They have a lot of ice cream flavors to chose from. I ended up getting a rum raisin flavor milkshake, though I don't recommend that you do because I like raisins more than most. I also got a handful of bit-o-honey at ten cents a pop. Jesus, am I an 80 year old man!?!? read more
