Been meaning to come here for a while my friends always tells me it's a must and wow I'm so glad I…read moredid!!! I've never tasted anything like it! If u love eating healthy or if ur like me and want to but keep making excuses haha then u have to come here!!!! At first when I checked the menu I was like oh god this sounds horrible hahaaaa -All natural vegetation and that -stuff I've never tasted... I actually had to look around and see what everyone else was having and wow I was like I'll grab that one haaa and was so shocked at the taste IT WAS SO GOOD!!!! I'm obsessed and have to go back soon! I was lucky I actually had a SCOOPON voucher pay $30 get $60 to spend! So I was hella lucky!!! X

This is a second location for the Cardamom Pod, a vegetarian (apparently vegan) brunch place (the…read morefirst is south of here at Broadbeach). The location itself I'm not a huge fan of. It's not close to the beach or on the tram line, so it wasn't the easiest thing to get to. Moreover, because it took a while to reach, I arrived just after their breakfast had ended and their lunch started. Looking at the breakfast menu, this was a tad disappointing. That being said, the crunchy tofu rolls I ended up were ethnically indiscernible but tasty, combining a Vietnamese presentation with a very Indian-ish dipping sauce and some marinated mango. They were amply spicy and sweet, and with avocado accompanying the tofu, reasonably filling. Their menu on the whole is quite lavish (and expensive). And yet, despite being a pricey pure plant-based restaurant at a non-ideal location, it was kind of busy. Gold Coast, man, I'm telling you. Most parts of the world, there aren't too many fancy vegetarian restaurants and the ones that exist sometimes struggle, but I just can't stop running into them here, and they're doing fine. I imagine I'll be back for some of their chickpea flour breakfast dishes sometime.

The new train line has opened, and this place which was once a massive pain to get to by transit is…read morenow walkable from a train station, so it seems like a good time to update the review. Logistics aside, I've been consistently intrigued. Malaysian cuisine is not a thing where I'm from. The basic elements are what you'd expect from any vegetarian Asian cuisine: noodles, rice, saltiness, soy products, etc. However, there is something slightly different; perhaps most notably when I ended up with some fried "chicken" product and watermelon juice and thought in my head that I might be eating comfort food from the American South. Among the many options I've sampled all have been palatable, and I'm still waiting to get around to the more recognizable names like nasi goreng and laksa. I've ordered differently every time, and if I were to repeat an order it would probably be for the roti chenai, a curry with fried bread that was much more delicious than the ones I've tried elsewhere. You can't go wrong with the noodle dishes either. It isn't the cheapest, but things are cooked fresh to order, and they're worth ordering. They also offer super cheap loose leaf teas. The worst that can be said of them is that once I came and they had closed during the slow hours on a weekday afternoon (inconsistently with their posted schedule), which in my experience is unthinkable for an American business, but not uncommon by looser Australian standards. Otherwise, the service and food have been on point, and I'm quite happy to have found them. I suspect vegetarian Malaysian will be a new thing for most diners as it has been for me, but I would suggest trying it.

This place is amazing! Definitely the most memorable part of my trip to Brisbane, and probably one…read moreof my favorite spots I've been to in recent memory. It's a fun place with a wide range of pinball machines, arcade games, and even video game consoles. There's a really nice array, including fighting games, shooters, side-scrolling games, and old classics. And if that wasn't enough to entice you, they have a great selection of beer and an absolutely mouthwatering vegan menu. Everything on the menu is vegan by default, although you can substitute meat and/or cheese if you want (bring your omni friends!). We opted for the mushroom burger, eggplant katsu burger, and udon "mac" and cheez. Everything was delicious. I'm salivating right now just thinking about it. Really fantastic comfort food, and it's complemented perfectly by beer and games. In short, this is an amazing place. If I could give it 8 starts, I would. If you find yourself in Brisbane, don't miss Netherworld.

Basically it is a pub, but it is full of all types of video games, and not only that but they also have a pretty decent selection of board games as well. Honestly, this place it literally a geeks paradise, and a guy like me could spend ages in here, especially if I happen to be gaming. Okay, it isn't open all that long, namely near the weekends, and in the evenings, but it is still a pretty awesome pub.

Part cafe, part supermarket, all amazing. I had no idea of this vegan / vegetarian / health food…read morewonderland existed on the north side but here, on busy Wardell Street between a spray tan shop and a church exists a shop where you can find all the faux meats, gluten free, dairy free, vegan cheese, and coconut milk ice-cream you could want. Half the fun of visiting is wandering the small but well stocked aisles to look at what products are there. For example, the toothbrushes made from recycled yoghurt containers I carried home from Wholefoods in the US - stocked here. Plus, the owners have branched out into a humble but delicious cafe where you can enjoy eats like the mushroom and mango salsa burger (DELICIOUS) or a sweet treat (like chocolate ganache cheesecake - totally vegan) from the cake cabinet. The coffee, Sacred Grounds, is organic fair trade and not like any blend I've tasted. Plus for those of us that can't handle too much lactose, I'm 99% sure my flat white was made on soy or almond milk which gave it an interestingly pleasant taste and yet no after effects of too much milk.
