My love story with Kumori began during the grand opening of their 4th branch in U.P. Town Center last Wednesday (September 28, 2016). Let's just say it was love at first bite.
I took the chance to visit their SM Makati branch located on the basement level, where most food stalls are stationed. The recent makeover has removed the feeling of being in a mass-market mall, now with a modern and bright interior that combats even their dedicated premier malls like S Maison at Conrad and SM Aura Premier in BGC.
An assortment of basic breads and delectable pastries await your belly. I was over excited and order more than I did my first time, since I wanted my brother Reyjohn to have a tasty first experience.
My Spoils
Salmon Bonito (55 PHP) is a pair of soft buns on a stick filled with a savory salmon mash drizzled with their teriyaki sauce then sprinkled with smoked bonito flakes.
Coffee Pan
Nothing spectacular, but still a great bread to have if sweets are not on your sight. Crispy quilted coffee covered puffs that's a delight to nib in, it's best paired with coffee.
Krone (48 PHP)
This is the crispy tube pastry that won me over, piped with their creamy custard for the crispy and cold feeling in every bite.
Croissant
Fluffy pastry that's above average in its category, which is commendable.
Hanjuko Original Cheesecake (48 PHP)
A signature favorite of many Kumori fans like myself, it's simple and just so delicious after any meal. A dreamy sensation fills my mouth as I bite down on the creamy goodness. A taste to remember.
SERVICE
Don't expect to be waited on it's a takeout place with seating and that limited to 3 tables. Staff are friendly enough to answer questions and generally do a decent job, although the cashier forgot to relay my cheesecake order till I requested for it. read more
