I had 3 events done for my wedding in July 2021 with hetal and kumba. They are reasonably priced but horrible at being organized. Their invoices were always wrong. They were late to every event to set up. Even after we discussed times to set up and breakdown each event and I emailed him what we discussed, They still did not show up on time. For mehendi. It was at my uncle's house. He showed up with different items then what was discussed and on the invoice. He then said they don't have that item and it was a mistake on the invoice. Then they were supposed to drop off everything on Wed and set up Thursday. They dropped off partial stuff of Wed and then showed up 2 hrs late on Thursday to set up. They were suppose to pick up on Saturday but only picked up partial things. For my nikkah Friday. They originally agreed to set up at 9am but then showed up at around 12. They were supposed to pick up on Saturday morning. Originally at 7am then he texted me saying they will be there around 9:30 so I had a family member there waiting for them. They showed up 2 hrs later. At the reception, they were not finished setting up until pretty close to 6:30 when they needed to be done by 4:30 so we could take pictures. They were spray painting the centerpieces at the event instead of prepping them in advance. I requested these white steps to be put in front of the stage since my floor and stage were white. They guy was stapling some ugly material onto the steps and placed it in front. I had to move it to the side because it was so ugly and not even a clean white. I paid for some shitty work there. One of the decoration pieces fell off on the stage and the white chair they brought had black dirt stains all over it. Out reception started almost an hour late because we couldn't open the doors to let people in since the room was not set up properly by kumba. They were suppose to pick up that night and showed up next day around 12 noon to clean up the hotel banquet room. All my other vendors were timely and finished setting up early and exactly based on what we discussed. I would not recommend them. They are not reliable and deliver inconsistent work. A bride does not need any more stress on her wedding day and these guys provided plenty of it. read more

I'd give Kumba 0 stars if I could. Kumba's (lack of) professionalism was a complete & utter disappointment. Their inability to follow through with paid services makes for their poor & questionable business ethics. Especially when NONE of the decors arrived the day of our destination wedding (which we had spent 3 hours picking out in their storage unit). They ruined a moment so valuable & precious to us that we will never be able to get them back. We have no choice but to look back at the horror & embarrassment of an empty mandap/ reception hall witnessed by our guests and captured in photos & videos, forever. It's absolutely heartbreaking & traumatic. All because of their poor business ethics. This the definite reason why we will -never- recommend or use Kumba for any future services ever again. Also, forget receiving any proper form of apology for such an egregious mistake. Instead, the next day Kumba is posting lavish events they've hosted on their IG. Which we take as a personal insult, adding more salt to an open wound. Clearly, this company is far more concerned with events that puts money in their pockets than professional customer relationships. read more

That was what helped us imagine how he would be decorating our events. As for the decorations themselves, the wedding mandap was elegant and matched well with our outdoor venue and golf course background. The reception stage was magical with the starry night theme. Hetal had a lot of experience working with our venue, which made for a smooth dynamic between his team, our wedding planner, and the venue. Hetal and Kumba Events can provide many different services for a wedding. We utilized three services for our wedding: A dhol player, a pagadi/turban-wrapper, and DJ services. The Dhol play was great and added an extra element to the Baraat. The pagadi-wrapper made the Hindu wedding so authentic. And Kumba events provides the safas (cloth) as well. For the reception, Kumba Events provided the up-lighting, DJ, dance floor lights and equipment. We've never seen so many people on the dance floor at once. Hetal did a wonderful job alternating between Hindi/Punjabi music and popular hip-hop songs from today and the '90s and 2000's. And he was an excellent DJ - every transition was smooth and he maintained a great pulse of the dance floor. I would highly recommend him for an Indian/American wedding or any party. read more

Hetal and his Kumba Entertainment team did an incredible job with the flowers and baraat/ceremony/reception design for our fusion Indian American wedding in San Diego this past May. With just a few photos of a style we liked they were able to create absolutely beautiful flower arrangements. They offer basically all the wedding vendor services you could need, from DJ/lighting to flower and table arrangements, and have very competitive prices. Our only forewarning would be that in general Kumba is not great at communicating really consistently until about 1-2 weeks away from our wedding date: for both our wedding and a family member's wedding, there were countless unanswered calls, texts, and emails sent to Kumba. I would guess it's because they're so wildly busy with events every weekend, because once it was the week of our wedding they were super on top of everything and completely professional. read more

So my sister's wedding was last Saturday and I was very disappointed in Hetal. Overall, the wedding itself was phenomenal and no one really noticed the little things, but me being the planner I was furious. First off, many pinspots were missing for the centerpieces (you couldn't even see the flowers, it was just a shadow and i paid for them!!!), draping fabric was dirty and stained, the crystals on the draping were uneven and i had to tell them to fix it, he had some issues controlling volume during the hindu ceremony, he was kind of standoffish and not so friendly, and he was very hard to get a hold of when we were planning. The hindu ceremony was beautiful though, the mandap and the horse in the baraat was amazing. The music was good as well but thats because we chose it. Despite the good, the bad far outweighed all of it, and when I had to pay him at the end and told him all the things that went wrong he gave me attitude, said his work was for nothing and that he should might as well not get paid. I still paid (contract) but i deducted the things that were missing, and did not tip. If you need a DJ, find it somewhere else or use Hetal and include SPECIFIC things in your contract just in case he screws you over or is rude. read more

I must have known Hetal the "Hooter" for about a couple of decades by now and have been to countless parties DJ'd by him! He is by far the best DJ in town for Bollywood parties! So we hired him for our latest anniversary party. He kept the dance floor rocking and busy till the end. It remained full without we having to pull people to the dance floor... Now that's the power of music and that's the power of Hetal:) Each and everyone of our guests enjoyed the party and the music... thanks for which goes to Hetal as he was personally spinning the tracks along with an assistant. Hetal is a pioneer in the South Asian wedding industry. I had the pleasure working with him during my wedding at the Ritz in Marina Del Rey. I have to say that his strongest point was his ability to charm my audience. I've never really seen anyone take control of a crowd, come up with jokes and just really present that type of charisma. With new Dj software everyone thinks there a dj and we had so many kids try to pawn us off on some cheap packages by meeting us at a starbucks... I have to say that it felt good to know that if something went wrong I could go knocking on his office door. He's a very good guy and he had a few of his dj's handle the series of our wedding week. I think with any one shop stop you have to spend a little extra time making sure your organized especially if you don't have a wedding coordinator or things fall back on you. While we hit a few hiccups due to some last minute requests from my family all in all everything was perfect. I had a one on one meeting with him about a month before my wedding and had shown him pictures and discussed what I wanted each event to look like. He performed all his work within my budget. Most vendors were giving me unfair deals, but Hetal was very reasonable. He always answered my emails and phone calls in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend him! Hetal was one of the best vendors I had the pleasure of working with throughout my entire planning process. My wedding was themed "1001 Hard Days' Nights" (a mashup of 1001 Nights and the Beatles) and the sincere personal investment that I saw Hetal take in it was above and beyond my expectations. For example, I was wanting to go all out with my photo booth area and have farm animals and a large scale camel, but didn't seriously think it would work out. I'm the end, I had a life sized cow at my mehndi and a life sized camel at my wedding in the photo areas. That's the exceptional level of dedication I saw across the board with his work. I had a very detailed and precise goal in mind for the decor and Hetal not only accomplished it, but far exceeded it. My food stations were beautiful with custom signage that he created, my favor carts were beautifully laid out, everything from top to bottom for both of the days involved with my wedding looked like something out of a dream. Prior to meeting with him, I had a long list of grievances dealing with shotty decorators that kept trying to upsell me things I didn't want. When I met with Hetal, the frustrations and struggle I'd had just disappeared. Professionally I'm a fashion designer and speaking with Hetal, it very quickly became clear to me that I was going to be working with another very creative and artistic mind. That alone gave me so much ease and in the end he exceeded my expectations. Finally the rate that he accomplished all of this at was well below what the vast majority of vendors had quoted me. Hetal is definitely not the best communicator which causes for a crap ton of wedding plan stress that could easily be avoided . I believe he needs a personal assistant that is a people person because he is not. But he's creative! Within my budget, he traveled to Las Vegas and provided an elegant layout for my wedding! He provided thrones, head table backdrop, aisle swags, lighting, specialty linen, a fog machine, gold cutlery, floral centerpieces, and bouquets. Everything was absolutely perfect except for these 3 things: 1. My bouquet was supposed to be mostly white with red roses utilized throughout. His florist arrived with my bouquet all white. It irritated me but it was still pretty so whatever. 2. My centerpieces were supposed to be TALL, but they were short. Also irritating, but still cute so again, whatever. 3. This removed the star along with his communication, or lack thereof, I specifically stated multiple times that I wanted DRY ICE for the dancing on cloud effect NOT A FREAKING FOG MACHINE for my first dance! He assured me "yea, yea, I know what you mean. I've got that". Yet, lo and behold, I walk into my reception into my first dance and a damn fog machine gets cut on! I was livid!! I could've gotten dry ice from ANY OTHER VENDOR if he'd simply stated that he couldn't deliver on that, no problem. It looked so cheap and terrible. I was embarrassed. read more

We hired Hetal as the dj for my brother's wedding. I was very impressed with his work. Ours was an Egyptian wedding and his Arabic music selection was phenomenal. His Emceeing skills were also great and our whole family was very happy with his services. The story of our dealings with Kumba is a tale entitled "Hetal the Horse Whisperer." We were planning our Indian wedding to take place in San Diego. We chose Kumba because we thought they were cheaper than anyone else. We were wrong, but we will get there. We met Hetal, the operator of Kumba. He wasn't particularly pleasant or friendly but their work looked good. We went home to discuss it. We selected them based on cost and quality of the portfolio. It took over 2 months for them to take our payment. Hetal would not return our emails, phone calls, or anything. It was like they didn't want our business. We found out later he was trying to do us a favor. Smash cut forward 4 months. They have taken the money and we are now planning to meet with Hetal to talk about logistics and plan the colors, etc. We leave, on a Sunday morning, from the happiness of San Diego to trek out to the business parks of Anaheim. We get to Kumba and it is empty. No one is there, lights off, doors locked, parking lot vacant. We call Hetal, we hear the phone ringing inside the building. We call the emergency number he has, phone rings in the building. Emergency numbers don't work when forwarded to the regular office phone. We wait in our car, futilely calling the two numbers for about an hour. Then we decide to leave. When we get back to San Diego he calls us with bizarre story about how he was at a wedding.....and there was a horse....and the horse was being angry.....and the groom couldn't ride the horse. For one it was a pretty terrible lie. I did the same piling on details kind of lying when I was 4. Secondly, I really doubt that Hetal is the horse whisperer he wishes. As if there was a horse and he was the only person who can quiet the thrashing beast. And if that is the case why would he make our meeting appointment so soon to the time he has to potentially comfort the savage equine. I know it is easy to over estimate the horsemanship of Southern Californians The next day when I called to find out what happened his office staff told me that he said we bailed on him and that he was there the whole time. Classy guy this Hetal is. We asked for our money back and he gave it back without question. Good sign he knows he failed, pretty badly. We went with another company we looked at before we chose Kumba. When we really crunched the numbers we found out that Kumba was considerably more expensive. Kumba is a blight on the wedding planning community of Southern California. read more

Please, look elsewhere for DJ and entertainment services. We hired to Hetal to do the decorations for our pre-wedding ceremony, and then DJ our reception. On the day of the pre-wedding ceremony he showed up FIVE HOURS LATE. Numerous phone calls went unanswered. Eventually we recruited family to start putting decorations together ourselves. He eventually showed up with some lame excuse. For the reception we provided him with a program in advance as well as certain songs for dances that were going to be done. We provided the music for him, but he played different versions... messing up some choreography. He forgot to announce some speakers (despite us giving him a written list of all the speakers in order), and announced our names wrong for the grand entrance (again, despite us providing this all written for him). Even though the day of turned out ok, it did not come without headaches. Very unprofessional about responding and being clear about making me as the bride feel confident in his work. The day of overall was ok, but he still forgot a few things. He also addressed many of our concerns last minute, making it very difficult for me to even know if he'll do the work well. Hetal was a great disappointment. We hired him for our son's wedding. Everything he did, was terrible. He did not live up to most of his commitments. The decorations were below standard, the horse for the barat did not have the umbrella for the groom, the center pieces were below standard- just about everything that we had hired him was not delivered. He would make appointments to meet with us and either show up a few hours late and then leave early or cancel the appointment last minute. He never ever returned our calls - not once. I would very strongly dissuade anyone from using Kumba or Hetal. Very very bad experience. read more

I had heard good things about Kumba from other friends of mine who went with Hetal to coordinate their weddings and was very pleased with my wedding planning experience. Hetal was very easy to work with, professional, organized, accessible, responsive and flexible when we needed to change things on him last second, clear and up front about costs. He and his team seemed intent on making sure we got what we were looking for. Many people who came to our wedding thought it looked amazing, from the mandap to the horse to the pinspot lighting and centerpieces. A big thank you to Kumba Entertainment and Event Services! I hired Kumba Entertainment for my wedding ceremony in August of 2011 at the Newport Beach Marriott Hotel and Spa. I was referred to him by another venue. I met with Hetal and went over the details of the ceremony a few weeks from the big day. Very short timing but he made me feel confident that everything would go smoothly. His fee was very reasonable. Hetal was very busy like many other wedding designers given that August is a very busy month for weddings. After a few days I was not able to get in touch with Hetal due to his work load. However he was kind enough to provide me with the names and numbers of his floral and linen people. I scheduled a face to face with his people who were very kind and generous. They went above and beyond to help me. They were exceptional and very devoted. Hetal was very hard to get in touch with and it was not for his floral and linen people, I would have had nothing but ill things to say about Hetal and his services. I was pressed for time, frustrated and about to lose it until his people gave me the confidence and reassurance that everything would be perfect. IT WAS!!! The design, decor, colors were just perfect! The only negative thing I have to say is that the lighting was a Little poor. The quality of the LED lights he used were not good. If I had known that I would have asked for more of them. If your going to book with Kumba Entertainment for lighting, flowers and linens, make sure you get Hetal's vendors names upfront. Work with them. They will take good care of you. You may have to drive a little to see them, but I believe that's required if you want your day to go perfectly. All in all, I would refer Kumba to anyone looking looking to beautify their big day!! Just don't get upset that you are required to do some work yourself. I hope my experience can be of help to others when using Kumba's services, I hope that my feed back can also help Hetal better his services to others so that he can be more successful.
