DJ Rival is the Definition of Professionalism Due to some last-minute changes, we suddenly found ourselves in need of a DJ just one week before our event. Our event was mid-day on a weekday, which I assumed would make things easier, but the process of finding someone turned into a frustrating exercise. I called eight DJs in total. Four of them never returned my calls. Two did respond but tried to take advantage of the short timeline by quoting me outrageously high prices. One wouldn't put his pricing in a written agreement, which was a deal breaker since agreements protect both parties equally. By the time I reached the last name on my list (Joseph Delgado, also known as DJ Rival) I was almost out of patience. Looking back, I wish I had called him first because it would have saved me an enormous amount of time and stress. From the very first contact, Joseph stood apart. Within minutes of reaching out, he called me back. We spoke on the phone, exchanged a few texts and emails, and in no time he had confirmed his availability, offered a fair and reasonable price, and sent me a professional contract that clearly outlined responsibilities and expectations on both sides. The way he handled it gave me immediate confidence. The next day he followed up with more thoughtful questions, asking me to clarify exactly what I envisioned for the event so he could be sure he was preparing the right equipment and the right approach. That kind of follow-through showed me that he was serious about getting it right. In the days leading up to the event, he checked in several more times. He also asked for a copy of the event script so he would know exactly when to play music, when to keep things quiet, and when to hand the spotlight over to speakers. That level of preparation made all the difference. Every conversation reassured me that he was paying close attention to the details and wanted to be absolutely certain that nothing would be left to chance. On the day itself, he arrived two hours early. His setup wasn't simple (he had to cover multiple areas of the venue with sound) but he handled it seamlessly. He came equipped with a high-quality UHF microphone, which completely eliminated the static and interruptions you often hear with cheaper gear. Throughout the event, Joseph was a true professional. He was well dressed, blended in effortlessly with the setting, and somehow managed to be everywhere he needed to be without ever calling attention to himself. Music cues were hit perfectly. Transitions were smooth. He was attentive without being intrusive. When the event wrapped up, he packed his equipment quickly and neatly, accepted payment via Zelle (which was far more convenient than dealing with cash) and was on his way. Working with Joseph was a textbook example of professionalism from start to finish. He turned what began as a stressful scramble into one of the smoothest parts of our entire event. I've already shared his website and contact information with several people and will continue to recommend him to anyone who wants a DJ they can trust completely. A DJ with a heart... After my daughter survived multiple seizures, strokes, and brain surgeries while on life support at CHOC hospital we decided to celebrate her life. Drs said my daughter was a miracle, and they named her Miracle Maddy. I contacted at least 15 other DJ's in the Los Angeles and Orange County Area, and no-one wanted to help up celebrate. We could not afford much after spending months in the hospital with Maddy, and out of work. DJ Rival had a heart, he heard my story and immediately said he wanted to be a part of this amazing story. I initially found Joseph MONTHS before my actual wedding but it's not like you can really interview or see a DJS work and so I just went with my gut and booked him anyways . He's very responsive and played all my the music we wanted and had the floor busy. He even customized my first dance song and it was amazing. My sister and I hired DJ Rival for a surprise party for our mother's 60th with a 70s/disco theme a few days ago. The music/dancing was the main part of our outdoor party. Our family is a bunch of finicky white people, but DJ was good about switching genres of music at our/anyone's request. We would say "ok, play disco next; play motown next" since everyone had different tastes, and he was quick to keep the music going and go with the flow. He was punctual, professional, dressed well, and had a great set-up. Best of all, his fee was very affordable. Im here updating based upon djs rivals justification of his POOR entertainment response to my review. #1- a good dj is not a robot. He will OBSERVE the room if he's going to announce the farewell of the Bride and Groom. Not just go based off when hes told. #2- Since you like to assume my wedding was a dud based upon it being small. It wasn't because it was small. A good dj can get a small or large crowd going by INTERACTING. Something you DIDNT do. Did you possibly think people we're leaving early because of YOUR entertainment?? Hmmm?? Isnt it funny how AFTER you started playing fun music, the people still there went on the dance floor? Something to think about. #3- It took you 3 times making my intro because you couldn't do it right the first time. And a good dj would of contacted his client right away if he saw part of the playlists cut out on the emailed form. Not say, oh well. #4- people DID want to toast, but you are bad at announcements as we clarified in the beginning of this. #5- im sorry i was nice to you at the wedding? Did you want me to be an ass? I'm not going to make a scene at my wedding because of your poor job. Thats why there are things like yelp. Dj Rival was HANDS DOWN the best vendor we worked with throughout the entire wedding planning process. From the very beginning, he was responsive and available, he provided us with a timeline for choosing songs, scheduling speeches, listing special dances, everything. He completely understood the vibe we were going for, and he had every guest from age 18 to age 75 tearing up the dance floor all night. He did an especially amazing job of integrating our "must plays" with his own picks, which we encouraged him do as he got a sense of the crowd.
