We have had Daniel DJ almost every important event in my family's life for the last 7 years. I have also used him to DJ our school dances as well. Daniel is excellent as a dj/host for any event. For my daughter's quince this past year he connected with me multiple times prior to the event to talk schedules, song selection, pronunciation of names, and everything in between. He had all the necessary equipment and when security at the venue came up and told him he had to move to another spot he didn't complain or get frustrated at all but willingly moved everything and kept the party going. We signed a contract with DJ Jamez based on the wonderful reviews here on Yelp. At first it was difficult to track him down. Emails weren't answered quickly, a phone call never came, but finally we managed to get him to chat with us one evening. Needless to say, we were thrilled that he agreed to DJ our wedding. I requested a contract so that we'd be locked in, and he assured me several times that we were booked and that he was looking forward to working our wedding. Twelve days before our event on 10/13--12, yes TWELVE--he calls me in the middle of the day, and I remember my heart sinking into my stomach when he said "Um, do you have a moment?" He then told me that his brother informed him that he would be getting married on the same day that we were, that he just found out, and that he had to pull out of our contract. You can imagine my reaction. I tried to stay calm, but anyone in my situation would have felt the same: angry, disappointed, hurt, frantic. I also found it hard to believe that his brother informed him of his wedding plans less than two weeks out. Even if this was true, to pull out of an event so close to the actual event was unforgivable. Yes, he did find a backup for us and yes that person was perfectly fine as a DJ, but Daniel caused all sorts of unnecessary work and anxiety for us at the last minute. Daniel, we trusted you. We asked you again and again to confirm and you did. We even asked for a contract and paid you a deposit, neither of which you offered/asked for. We are good people and you put us between a rock and a hard place. At less than two weeks out, we had no choice but to go with your backup. And that wasn't fair to us as clients. Grooms and brides, there's really no way to avoid something like this, as even if you sign a contract, it's designed to protect the DJ, not the client. But if your gut is telling you something's off, it probably is. Listen to it. read more

Wow - not even sure how to start here. My review will honestly go on for pages and pages if I could, but I know people only read a few sentences haha. Daniel was just incredible. From the moment we signed on to work together, he was nice, responsive, and you could tell he knew exactly what he was doing. He loved all of the songs and music we selected and knew all of it already. The day of the wedding, he arrived early and with all kinds of equipment, ready to go. He got along with all of the vendors, was flexible in where he was placed, and everybody told me how awesome he was to work with. When the music started, Daniel was on top of it. He knew when to play the right music (oldies during dinner to keep things light and easy for the old folks at the wedding; party and dance music as the night went on and the old people filtered out but the young crowd stuck around). He knew exactly when to fade the music so there were no awkward transitions (like when the father daughter dance should end, and then the mother son dance). He had the volume at exactly the right place - you could hear the music throughout the venue but you didn't have to yell at each other when talking. He took requests and made announcements throughout the night. He pronounced everybody's name exactly right (and we had some tough ones), and he was thanking me for having him there!! I'm the one thanking him - I will ALWAYS hire Daniel to DJ my events. I wish I could get married every weekend just so I could use his services again and again, but I know I'll have other events (birthdays, anniversary parties) and I will immediately call Daniel. My dad, who is extremely hard to please with music, also loved Daniel. My dad grew up in the "musician" era of the 60s and the 70s...he went to live concerts, events and parties had live bands in attendance, he grew up playing guitar, so he's hard to convince when you say you'll be getting a DJ. But he pulled me aside the day after the wedding and said he thought Daniel was absolutely phenomenal and did a great job. Hire Daniel now! You won't be disappointed. read more
