I checked their website and Yelp. Both said they were open. They were not. My daughter goes here a lot and she said she has problems with them being randomly closed. Highly recommend you call first to ensure they are open. The sign on the door is good but not everyone walks by your door everyday. Update your social media when you're closed!!
This little neighborhood ramen place is a gem! We loooove this place and eat here/order pick up regularly. Everything here is good. The ramen here is sooooo yummy and the broth is rich and addicting. I'm actually really particular with my ramen and this is one of my favorites. The sushi here is also really great. Every time we order it, we are completely satisfied. Not too much rice and every roll we've had is delicious. Overall great place and would highly recommend! So far we've had the... * Tonkotsu ramen 5/5 * Chasu don 4/5 * Poke bowl with salmon - used to be a 5/5 but they changed the sauce and now it's too sweet. Now it's a 3/5 * Dynamite mussels 4/5 * Philadelphia roll 5/5 * Agedashi tofu 4/5 * Samurai roll 4/5 * McKinney roll 5/5 - my favorite roll here * California roll 5/5 - for such an average roll, this one is surprisingly really good for some reason. Not usually my fave anywhere else * Spicy salmon roll 5/5 Like I said, pretty much everything here is good. Can't go wrong honestly. Try it, you'll be glad you did!
I've had ramen here a few times already and that was amazing. Today I decided to take a chance and order sushi. Unfortunately when I got the sushi, the shrimp is super burnt and they're so small, it's nothing like the picture they advertise. I would say if you go stick with the Ramen that was AMAZING the sushi not so much.
Front lady was very nice. If I'm Not mistaken her name was Kate? Very nice lady! Food was delicious! Will definitely be back when I visit McKinney TX again.
I was craving some delicious ramen on a "Texas Cold" day. This restaurant is in a fairly new strip in McKinney off 121 on the border with Allen, so a super smart, growing location. I am pleased to find it!! And I am pleased to have another vegetarian option! The menu indicates vegan but it doesn't make clear if the broth is vegan. I had the veg miso ramen, and added tofu. It was delicious. Service is not we typically expect in terms of friendly service. The interior is tidy and clean and well decorated for a casual experience, including rough wood chairs and benches, stools and standing options. They offer a few alcoholic beverages as well. I can't wait to come back, my son is going to love it.
We've been to this place a couple times now and have been equally pleased both times. The woman who has helped us both times is extremely nice & helpful. We appreciate the small, cozy feel and upon walking up the restaurant it even reminds us of our visit to Japan earlier this year. Great food & great service!! Definitely recommend and will be back.
Oh boy, where do I start The reviews are glowing and we were extremely excited for decent ramen in McKinney. Unfortunately, this place is not it. Takoyaki: this was actually edible but it was covered in a heaping tower of bonito flakes. They're supposed to be a delicate topping that dances in the steam of the fresh and delectable takoyaki but it was heaped over the takoyaki, as if to hide it instead. Spicy tonkotsu: they have spicy ramen with ground pork but not with chashu, so we had to add spicy sauce. The broth was spicy and savory but hollow. It didn't have the fat/richness that you expect from a tonkotsu broth. It was just watery. The noodles weren't good ramen noodles. I'm not even sure if they qualify. They were thin and got soggy quickly from being in the broth. The chashu was probably the best of the ramen. It might not be pork belly - maybe it was pork shoulder? But it wasn't fatty at all. Not what you'd expect from chashu. Kaarage: I don't even know if this breading is Japanese. It looks like a Long John Silver fish fillet topping. The friend who bought it didn't want to take it home so we did, and I'll feature the juxtaposition of the kaarage he got here vs the kaarage he got 15mins down the road at Mitsuwa Marketplace. Ice cream: Fluffy and tasty! But not worth $4.5. Glad we got it for free during this promotion period. Service: inattentive, lifeless. I'm wondering if the people here don't want to work here due to the abysmal quality of the food. I hope they're able to figure this out and turn this restaurant around. It definitely has potential to be better. The atmosphere (art, etc) is very nice, so I hope the food can make a turn for the better as well. Hopefully I can have/share a better experience in the future.
Service was amazing, food was even more amazing! I was happy with all of my food selections and again the service was great. I will absolutely be back.
Kuma is definitely a solid choice for ramen in McKinney. We recently went for a quick dinner with the fam and I will say that the atmosphere is nice. It is located in a new strip mall and has cute decor that gives off a ramen shop feel. Service-wise, I would not say it is the friendliest. We did get everything ordered and everything came out in a timely manner; however no smiles all business. I cannot say it was bad service, just lacks friendliness. Food-wise, we got the chicken karaage, which was good. It came with a mayo sauce, the chicken was tender and well fried, but could have used a touch more flavor. It was definitely underwhelming for $9. We also got a spicy salmon roll, which was not spicy and on the expensive side ($9.50) for the lack of flavor and the lower quality of salmon. Felt similar to a grocery store salmon roll. The standout was definitely the ramen. I got the spicy ramen ($13.95) and my favorite part is that they have the option of chicken chashu! I'm not a huge fan of pork chashu because of the fatty portion of the pork, which limits my protein options at a ramen shop, so this is definitely a plus for me. My husband got the tempura udon ($13.95) with extra noodles ($3), which comes with shrimp tempura, fish cakes, and scallion. Simple noodles, for a simple man. He seemed to have enjoyed it and the portion size was large enough for him to have leftovers. Also, true to what they proclaimed, I did not feel super thirsty after my meal. They claim that the ramen here is superior because the flavor is from the bone marrow simmering overnight versus using lots of sodium and/or MSG. So...moral of the story, I definitely would come back for the ramen. It was delicious and I did not need to drink 20 gallons of water when I got home. This will definitely be my go-to ramen shop in McKinney.
Always consistent and amazing food and service. I get the spicy ramen and I love it. I also like the quiet ambiance !
The best ramen, don't hesitate to try them out. The service is always pleasant and the ramen is always delicious.
The staff was helpful, our food was brought quickly, this was our first time trying ramen and it was good! Plan on coming back but asking for the Spicy Ramen to be a little more mild

I was craving some ramen and didn't want to stray too far from McKinney and found Kuma. While Kuma specializes in ramen, they also offer sushi. I had the the Tonkotsu Ramen, and it was exactly what I needed. The Tonkotsu wasn't overly intense or packed with umami; instead, it was a cozy, comforting bowl of ramen--simple, yet satisfying. I also tried one of the lunch specials, the Two Sushi Rolls ($13) which includes your choice of two classic sushi rolls (excludes the signature rolls). The classic rolls are nothing too adventurous, just straightforward, solid flavors. Note: the place is a small mom-and-pop shop, so check the hours. On weekdays, they close early (3:00 PM) since they need to pick up their kid from school (something my yapping mouth overlooked). read more

The food was amazing! We had a little of everything and it did not disappoint. Large portions and well seasoned! The service was wonderful as well. Our waitress was great. It was the first ramen experience for a few in our party and our waitress made sure we were taken care of and explained each item. Small restaurant with great decor good location and overall good ambiance! If you're looking for some good ramen- this is the place to go! read more

During the fall/winter months, we love coming here for ramen! Everything about their ramen is amazing! Great taste, great presentation, great temperature. One downside is that they do not put ice in their water. We ordered a spicy crab roll. While the sushi was fresh and yummy, there was a little bit too much spicy Mayo. It overpowered the roll. Definitely won't order that again, but we will return for the ramen. read more

We ordered for the first time last night. The Husbeast and I both got the Tonkotsu, he got edamame to go with it, and I got the vegetable spring rolls. It was AMAZING! The broth was so deep and rich in flavor, the noodles were perfect, and my vegetable spring rolls were excellent. We own a small business in McKinney, and eat the majority of our meals at the store, in between serving customers. So I don't say this lightly, it was just as good when it had to sit a while as it was when it was fresh out of the delivery bag. It was so good, we actually ordered it again tonight. He got the spicy this time, and started to say, "That's not very spicy." then suddenly coughed and his nose started running, and he said, "The prosecution **sniffle** would like **snuffle** to withdraw it's case, Your Honor!" **LOL** The servings are generous, I finished mine yesterday because I was starving, but tonight I ended up putting about half of it in the fridge for tomorrow's lunch. I can't rave enough about it. And I can tell you that the next time I'm sick, I'm ordering their broth, because it's amazing enough to stand on it's own, and I know I'll be craving soup. Until then, I'm looking forward to a time when we can actually eat IN the restaurant instead of ordering delivery, but that has to wait a bit for us. Give this place a shot, you won't regret it. read more
Tried this ramen place for lunch and glad we did. Menu had a variety of options to choose from and service was fast. The ramen broth wasn't as creamy as I typically like it but it had a good solid base to it. It was so quiet when we visited that I felt a bit bad for them. Hopefully they'll get a bit more foot traffic! read more
This place is a gem! We absolutely love their ramen and rolls. The service have been great every time. I've had a variety of their ramen soups and have liked them all. My daughter love their rolls. Their sashimi salad is plentiful and yummy as well. They don't skim on anything. So happy this place isn't far from where we live. read more

If you want good ramen GO HERE. Could not give this this place a better review. It was well priced and that's coming from a couple who budgets and cannot go out very often. We went pretty late and Kate was our waitress and she was the kindest lady we have met! I thought it was cute that when talking to her telling her our names and she walked away practicing then to remember. I never give yelp reviews but i use it to find places frequently and figured i'd contribute because this business deserves it!! read more
We decided to try this place since it was in walking distance to our apartments and had just opened recently. I didn't take a picture of the fried ice-cream...but, I would honestly just come here for that it was absolutely DELICIOUS! They do eat in and takeout; but the restaurant is a little small so make sure you plan a time when they're not as busy. The service was great all the employees are very friendly and we received our food quickly after ordering. The portion sizes are big and if you get the fried ice-cream get one for yourself because you're not going to want to share. The ramen is very flavorful and they have multiple options for you to choose from, they also serve sushi here if you like that. Give them a try next time you're around! read more

Hi Selena! Thank you so much for checking us out and provide valuable…
Arrived on day 2 of opening. So excited and pleased with my neighborhood ramen shop. Check it out! Got take out which always dampens the food experience a little so I'm looking forward to dining in to enjoy it fresh out if the kitchen. Spicy ramen was mild for this heat lover, but will be pleasing to wider range of palates because it won't set your mouth on fire. Assume I can request more heat next time. Katana had such a satisfying amount of snow crab piled on. Loved that part, but salmon portion in roll was small so it got lost under all that delicious crab. A little more salmon would make this perfect. Spicy chicken karaage flavor was good, but I'd prefer bigger pieces instead of popcorn style because chicken gets lost in the batter. read more

Had their sushi the other night for a quick takeout dinner, loved it! Everything was very good quality and tasted great. I ordered the samurai, california roll, and cucumber roll. I gotta come back and try their ramen! 7/2/21 Update Came back to drive their ramen and dined in. It was alright! Not my fav, but I do gotta say they give you a generous portion and the pork belly meat is very flavorful. I would've liked more toppings that we could add in ourselves like chili powder/sesame seeds/hot sauce and more service like providing napkins for instance. Overall though I still really do like this restaurant especially for their sushi! read more

Okay, I absolutely HATE writing reviews, hate them with a passion. However, I think this place deserves it. I literally live right behind this place and wanted to give it a try to see what it was all about. From the moment I walked in, it was clean and spacious. Staff was really sweet and efficient in getting my order taken, (I got the California roll, not too adventurous when it comes to sushi.. yet) my order was ready and I was in and out in less than 10 minutes. Got home and the packaging was great, plenty of soy sauce and yummy ginger! Pictures attached! I already ate 2 pieces when taking this. read more

Can I assume this restaurant is the franchise from Hong Kong, China and not from Japan? I lived in Tenjin, Fukuoka and can't find you anywhere in Kyushu or Japan. Thank you
Hi Ken, we are not a franchise. We are local owned restaurants.
