Brenda was absolutely wonderful to work with! When we started, I sent her some inspiration photos from Pinterest and she mocked up a bouquet with different types of flowers for me that I loved. We checked in periodically until the wedding, and she managed changes to the number of bouts and corsages that I needed all the way down to a few days before the wedding. The day of, she delivered the flowers early, and they looked absolutely beautiful and exactly what I wanted. I had a special chain I wanted pinned to my bouquet, which she brought pins for and did while standing on my front steps. A week later, my bouquet is still sitting in water and looking very lovely. Would absolutely recommend Brenda! read more

Brenda of Kuga Designs went above and beyond any expectations I had for my wedding! I had a small, intimate wedding at a venue where the space we were in served as both my wedding and reception space. The venue was a bit dated, but she made it BEAUTIFUL. The planning process was seamless. I"m an indecisive person and and I'm not really creative. I don't "make" things and I'm certainly no visionary. I'm more of the "That's pretty, how much does it cost?" type of gal. Brenda took what I liked and elevated it. She was very professional and so easy to work with and I couldn't have been more happy with the job she did! I was also on a tight budget and somehow she made it work! She dressed my wedding/reception from top to bottom - from my bridal party to the cake; not just with beautiful bouquets and arrangements, but with her own personal touches. She really does an amazing job!!! I wanted to have a money tree and had yet to purchase one and Brenda provided me with a money box - this wonderful box shaped as a house with slots to add pictures of me and my hubby. I had no idea what I was going to do about renting some sort of arch or altar and lo and behold - Brenda had her own beautiful rustic looking altar which she offered to let me use and decorated so intricately. Instead of the usual bows that align the seats along the aisle, she put together these amazing tall, glass cylinders with flowers and floating candles to light and adorn my path. Details that I hadn't even thought of, she was prepared with ideas and suggestions. I really don't know what I would've done without her. Weddings can be so stressful and she really made things easier for me. I literally had no worries about the flowers or wedding decor on the day of. I am so grateful she was available for my wedding! I definitely won't hesitate to hire her again when the occasion arises. read more

As with the reviewer below, my wife and I fortunately stumbled upon Brenda's blog while browsing the Internet for a florist for our wedding. We had some very specific concepts in mind for our wedding florals: We want to incorporate living plants, specifically succulents, so that we and our guests could preserve the plants after the blessed event. All in all, Brenda was a pleasure to work with, plus if you review her blog, you'll see that she has wonderful, creative ideas. We met with her for coffee, and she and my wife hammered out concepts for bouquets, table arrangements, and boutonnières relatively quickly, with Brenda paying careful attention, sketching concepts, and providing invaluable feedback all the while. (She also came prepared with her laptop computer so she could quickly call up images of plants and flowers she had in mind, which was very handy.) Brenda was also incredibly patient with us, as we were a little indecisive as to how many of each type of arrangement we'd need. We didn't give her final numbers until the last minute, and she took that well in stride. Most important, of course: The product she delivered exceeded our expectations. So many people raved about how wonderful all the flowers were. And she's also extremely affordable. She seemed quite happy to work within the budget we allotted -- and delivered a great deal of value compared to other florists we considered. Bottom line: Hire Brenda to do your wedding or other event that requires flowers. You won't regret it. read more

Brenda was an absolute pleasure to work with and I definitely recommend her. I hired her for our wedding at the Hotel Vitale and the flowers were stunning. She really put thought into how we could decorate everything in a modern, sophisticated way for our rooftop reception, all within our budget. We wanted a fun, chic, modern rooftop lounge feel to party with our friends on our big day and she matched that vibe with the flowers. She was always very responsive to all my questions in person and through email and showed up on time and delivered everything perfectly on the day of the wedding. Most guests don't remember or notice flowers at weddings, but I received so many compliments on all the centerpieces and personal flowers. The flowers were unique, elegant, unusual and modern and really fit the setting. I researched many wedding florists and Brenda was the best vendor we picked. We were really happy and would use her again! read more

Brenda is a talented, down-to-earth floral designer. I told her that I wanted my wedding flowers in autumn colors without looking like Thanksgiving (my main color was a rusty orange). When we met, she took the time to show me different flowers that would be in season, she looked at my bridesmaid dresses and drew out the look of the arrangements that she had in mind. She also happily worked within my budget. On my wedding day, she delivered the flowers on time, securely packaged. When I saw my bouquet, my eyes widened to take in all the colors! I could not have imagined it to be so beautiful! Check out her blog to see her work. She's a gifted lady. Just be patient, as she's a mommy, a student and a floral designer! read more

We got married three weeks ago (August 2016) at the Log Cabin in the Presidio, and Brenda did an AMAZING job on our flowers! She was so wonderful to work with throughout the whole process. She came to our apartment and we had a lovely conversation for an hour or two about flowers and our general aesthetic preferences. After that conversation, Brenda just seemed to have a really clear vision of how to combine the flowers and plants we had talked about. It was simultaneously surprising and thrilling to see our concept come to life in her arrangements. She is so knowledgeable and incredibly talented! Her prices are so reasonable that we ended up requesting more after we got our initial proposal. Brenda really made all the arrangements look unique and special, and somehow got our personalities to come through. She also made me a stunning hair piece with flowers and succulents on a comb that I was able to add to my updo. People are still complimenting us on our unique flowers! Thank you, Brenda! read more

Brenda is truly wonderful. She transformed a plain looking hotel ballroom into a complete fairytale for our wedding. My husband and I had an elaborate vision of what we wanted, and she made it come to life and more! She had such creative ideas and every arrangement was made with such detail and care. She was also a great communicator, and even made a detailed vision board as part of her proposal. I can't thank her enough for her excellent work! She made our wedding beautiful! read more

speechless. Started talking with Brenda via email in early February regarding my upcoming wedding in September. We ended up meeting up to talk about vision. She seemed super knowledgeable and on par with my vision & said she would come back with a proposal soon. I gave her a grace period during February as I knew she was probably busy with Valentines day. Around Feb 20th she recontacted me and assured a proposal within the week. Today (over a month later), I STILL have yet to hear back from her. WHAT WENT WRONG HERE? I mean seriously, I have sent numerous follow up emails and not heard one pep! Assuming no tragedies . . . this is totally unprofessional! NEXT. read more

I hired Brenda of Kuga Designs for our florals. She went above and beyond and created the most beautiful arrangements I could've ever dreamed of. She is extremely professional, calming, understands your vision and is really easy and helpful to work with. I loved the concept phase because she would send me back mood-boards and iterations of them until we both agreed to a final look and feel. She took my vision and made it come to life 10 fold. AMAZING! Hire her :) She will work with you to create the wedding florals of your dreams and is just the sweetest!! read more

Brenda of Kuga Designs helped me create a picture perfect wedding! We talked budget early on and she helped me figure out what was realistic for my season and budget. I let her know my color scheme and she nailed it. The flowers were vibrant, beautiful and put together with so much love and creativity. We received so many compliments from our guests. Brenda and I worked via email and she was easy to get ahold of and keep in touch with. She made my bouquet, wedding party flowers, parents flowers and centerpieces. Brenda was kind and hard working. She was also honest with me about what to expect and she blew my expectations out of the water. She is very talented and you can see how much she loves her work. It's in the presentation of it all. I would recommend her over and over! read more

Brenda at Kuga Designs was great to work with - she was extremely responsive and came up with creative ideas to fit our budget. She created beautiful, elegant centerpieces and ceremony pieces that reflected our venue of the Asian Art Museum. She modeled a lovely bridal bouquet closely following a picture I sent her and she was wonderfully quick to help on small extras like the beautiful comb with orchids for my hair. I highly recommend working with Brenda! read more

I created a Yelp account just so I could praise Brenda for how amazing she is. Above and beyond doesn't even begin to describe the work she does. Seriously, look no further if you're searching for an affordable florist in SF. We hired Brenda to handle all of the floral arrangements for my brother's wedding at the SF Zoo. She is super professional and responsive, and we were able to coordinate everything from inspiration/color palette discussions to the final proposal and pricing all over email. Brenda has such a high level of expertise and creativity when it comes to wedding florals, she was able to provide really helpful guidance around what would work best for the room, tables, and seating arrangements. We knew very little about wedding florals going in and had a very vague idea of what the bride wanted, but had a hard time articulating the details. She basically took a handful of images from the bride's Pinterest board and converted it to three very detailed proposals - one of which was exactly what we were looking for but weren't able to articulate. It was like she read our minds! The actual finished product was so beyond beautiful, I think every single guest commented on how incredible the room and tables looked. I can't thank Brenda enough for her amazing work. read more

It's taken me awhile to write this review, but.... Let me just say that Brenda is absolutely wonderful!!! I got married last July, and was stressed out about all of the things that I needed to do beforehand. One of my students' mom's knew I was getting married and referred me to Brenda. I checked out her blog, and was impressed with what I saw, but I noticed that she said she would be taking the month of July off. I got in touch with her anyway, and she said that since she was referred by someone and was available for that day, she would go ahead and do the flowers for me! We only needed flowers for the ceremony, as we did something different for the centerpieces at the reception. I had decided I wanted to stick with roses for the flowers. When I told Brenda how much we could spend on flowers (which was not much!), she said that she could do all of that for a little bit more, including tax! I did have to add some other flowers to keep the cost down, because the roses are more expensive. Brenda and I met at a cafe, and she took the time to help me decide what other flowers would work with our colors (purple and green) and the budget. She was also interested in other aspects of the wedding, and since she's also a day-of coordinator, was able to give advice and answer questions about anything else I wanted to know. The day of our wedding came, and I was amazed at how beautiful the flowers were! The flowers were nothing like I imagined - they were so much better! Perfect! I couldn't believe how lucky I got with such a wonderful florist. And at such a great price! She was on time, professional, and stayed to make sure everything was taken care of. I couldn't ask for anything more! If you'd like to see what Brenda did for my wedding flowers, I'm the "Lavender Bride" in her July 2009 posts. read more

I've hired Brenda at Kuga Designs for multiple events including two weddings and my son's high school graduation party. All three times, the flowers came out AMAZING! Brenda can work with any budget and she has incredible artistic talent. Her business is primarily flowers, but she also does amazing crafts and has a gorgeous collection of milk glass vases. I appreciate that Brenda takes the time to understand what you want or envision, and she'll work with you to make it happen. If you have a budget, she can advise you on what flowers will be in season for your event and how to adjust your plans accordingly. For my first wedding, I met with her to give her my ideas for my wedding bouquet, bouts, and centerpieces. We really hit it off from the start as she is very easy to work with and has a great customer oriented attitude. I gave her a few instructions and left most of it to her creative powers. I am so glad that I did because she really blew it out of the water on the flowers for my wedding --- when I walked into the banquet hall for my wedding, I swore that I was walking into a high end wedding magazine picture! I had SO many compliments on the flowers for my wedding and all the aunts were fighting for the centerpieces at the end. Ha ha! For my son's graduation party, we had a simple, rustic theme and she really came through with some gorgeous flowers especially given the budget. I couldn't stop looking at the pictures of the party for weeks after --- the flowers really made my party decor! I enjoy working with Brenda at Kuga Designs. I really wouldn't hire anyone else for flowers. Hopefully, I die before Brenda because I really need her to do my funeral flowers. I already told my son. :D read more

Brenda did our wedding flowers at the Marin Art and Garden Center 10/1/2017. I was thrilled with our flowers and loved working with her. She was respectful of our budget and very helpful with suggesting ways to maximize impact within our means. She completely understood and executed the style we were going for, and she was very thoughtful about what kinds of colors and shapes would work well with our space. We got lots of compliments on the arrangements, and she had great suggestions throughout the process. She's a generous person who goes above and beyond for her clients, and we're very grateful to have found her! read more

Brenda was wonderful. Even though I was living across the country, and do not know much about flowers, she was so easy to work with. She took a few Pintrest photos I sent and made my dream wedding come to life! She was responsive and professional, flexible with changes, and took care of everything leading up to and on the day of the wedding so that I didn't have to stress about anything. Everyone commented on how beautiful the arrangements were, and how they matched the venue so well - all Brenda's doing! I would definitely recommend Kuga Designs. read more

We loved Brenda and Kuga designs!! She transformed our backyard Wedding (our reception was in our Marin backyard) into a beautiful fairyland and the unusual, small lobby in our church into a magical wedding setting. She outfitted everyone with gorgeous items to dress up our outfits and the wedding bouquet was jaw-dropping. She was professional from start to finish and we never really had to do anything but choose from amongst her wonderful creative ideas and sit back and watch everything happen! So beautiful!! Thank you, Brenda, for making a backyard wedding into a Royal event! read more

I first contacted Brenda with the vaguest of wedding visions -- a broad modern-meets-Art Deco theme, some Pinterest links, an estimated budget. To be clear, I am a person who knows nothing about flowers. Immediately (or so it felt), she sent back an ultra-detailed, creative proposal that blew me away. She put so much thought into the overall vision; when I came to her with a request for a bridal bouquet, she not only did it, she tweaked the bridesmaids' bouquets to match (and they looked perfect). She came up with a bunch of ideas for staying on budget, like repurposing pieces from the ceremony for the reception. And she was a one-stop shop for everything we needed -- from antique books for table centerpieces, to a wooden arch for the ceremony. When it all came together on the day of, it was just stunning; I got nonstop compliments. Thank you so much, Brenda! read more

Brenda and Kuga Designs helped to design our floral arrangements and centerpieces for our city hall wedding and reception. She was such a pleasure to work with. We loved our boutonnieres and our moms loved their flowers. We described as best we could the color scheme we wanted and it turned out exactly how we imagined it. We wanted to keep a particular budget, and she was respectful of that and we were appreciative of it. When you are preparing for one of the biggest days of your life, you want to work with good, nice people, and Brenda was certainly that and more. read more

It is my great pleasure to be the first to review Kuga Designs! I found Brenda's blog while I was surfing the internet for floral ideas. I really liked her blog and I thought her passion, creativity, and down-to-earthness was readily apparent. (It's a wonky blog, and I mean it in the nicest way - she really thinks about flowers, she has a wide range of styles, and she's up to date on floral trends. Check it out.). When I realized that she was actually local (!), I contacted her immediately. My then-fiance-now-husband and I liked her right away when we met her. She was very prompt with returning emails and phone calls, and I loved working with her. It is very easy to talk with her. Everyone cares about different (all/some/none) aspects of planning a wedding. For me, flowers were something I cared a lot about, and (un)fortunately I know enough about flowers and varietals to be picky. I realized a few months before our wedding that there was no way I could possibly DIY wedding flowers given the time sensitivity and enormous amount of labor involved. Brenda is an ideal wedding florist. She personally likes weddings (some florists don't), she's artistic AND also extremely organized. She worked with what I thought was a fairly difficult budget given what we wanted, and gave us suggestions for lowering our floral costs (different styles of arrangements, etc). Her work is beautiful, fresh, meticulous, and she was patient through the process of refining the designs. Because she is starting her own studio, her prices are extremely reasonable if not downright low. Decent glassware that can stand up to the weight and pressure of large arrangements can be expensive (and an area where florists may add on), but she gave us the option of renting, or buying vases at cost. She preordered nearly everything at the SF flower mart for our event to maximize color scheme and freshness, and she kindly met me there (she goes frequently) so I could point out specific color schemes and varietals. I was stunned when I walked into our venue on our wedding day - the flowers were gorgeous. We received many compliments from our guests - some said they had never seen such beautiful flowers at a wedding. She delivered the personal flowers on time (if not a little early), and worked really well with Jessica (our coordinator) to make our venue stunning. In summary: check out her blog. Meet her, hire her before she raises her prices to levels that are worthy of her skill and care. read more

Brenda was the floral designer for our SF City Hall wedding. She did a fantastic job of creating a winter wonderland themed setting with her floral designs. And she did this based on a few questions, working within our budget to make it all come to life. She created bridal bouquets, boutineers, centerpieces, two large standing pieces, and a number of separate table pieces. She also decorated our wedding cake with roses. We were truly impressed with not only her artistic sense, but also her level of professionalism. It was so easy to work with her. Her response time was immediate and she was on top of everything, from ensuring that her candles met City Hall regulations, to making sure that we were presented with a range of options that were beautiful and fit our budget. We highly recommend her to anyone looking to have a wedding at SF City Hall (or anywhere in the area really), and we plan on using her again in the future for all of our upcoming events requiring amazing floral design. read more
