The very best cedar wood that can be found in California. My 1890s barn is getting a face lift and is looking grand.

Two Hardware Stores, in our area-- And a Few Thoughts:…read more We're fortunate to have two hardware stores in our area -- convenience matters, and I genuinely try to keep my spending local. The staff is consistently helpful and knowledgeable, and that counts for a lot. Supporting local businesses means keeping our neighbors employed, and I don't take that lightly. But let's talk about the elephant in the room: pricing. I've done the comparisons. Many items here run 2x what you'd pay online -- and increasingly, I'm seeing things priced at 3x the online equivalent. I understand local businesses can't always match the big online retailers, but markups at that level make it genuinely hard to justify shopping here regularly, even when I want to. For my fellow seniors: there's a 10% discount available -- but only one day a week. Here's the thing: we're seniors every single day. To their credit, the other hardware store in our area offers no senior discount at all -- so this place is at least a step ahead there. But a modest everyday discount, even at a lower percentage, would go a long way toward building loyalty with a customer base that shops consistently and values local relationships. It would be worth exploring. I'm not here to organize a boycott -- that's not my style. But I will say this: if the pricing gap keeps widening, more and more of us are drifting to online options, not out of preference, but out of necessity. It's worth noting that seniors are a very different customer base than they were 5 or 10 years ago -- nearly everyone I know has learned to shop online, or has someone who does it for them. For those of us on fixed incomes, finding a better price isn't a luxury, it's a necessity. The goodwill is there. The staff is great. Meet us halfway on the value, and this place could really thrive.

Visited Dec. 23rd..see receipt…read more I always go to this place when I need some gardening supplies or keys. Today I needed extra keys and they are quick to make them (just press the buzzer and they will come over). 4 keys cost 9 bucks which is reasonable even with inflation! This place is huge - lumber.. .paint..lighting fixtures and a whole separate gardening area. Most of the employees are older and have experience in some sort of construction related area. It's a great place to have in Grass Valley! Ps. They also serve pies for about 18 bucks!

Was coming down from Lake Tahoe and a Hansens enterprise GRAVEL truck pulls into the fast lane to…read moremake a pass on another vehicle, A big rock falls off the back rail of the truck as I saw it specifically come off and hit my windshield! I called Hansons and spoke to some man at customer service who is extremely rude and short he would not let me explain the situation would only have me answer his specific questions! This happened on a Thursday I call in on Friday I was told specifically I would hear back by Monday of course nobody calls!!! When I finally speak with the office manager he stated that I had the wrong location on the freeway as to where the incident occurred but yet he said it happened at three-mile bridge trying not to place fault on his driver because of the location! I took several photographs of the license plate of the truck with the drivers face and hear the exact location as to where it happened! Firstly the driver was excessively speeding in the fast lane in the gravel truck! The office manager admitted that they have a governor does not allow them to go over 75 mph when he was doing 75 mph in the fast lane which is 10 miles an hour over the legal CAR speed limit and 20 miles an hour over the legal speed limit for a truck!!?? Then office manager says he will not disclose what was in the back of the truck if you won't disclose what's in the back of the truck then you're lying!! Finally he decides to tell me that it was mushroom compost seems very odd as that Hansons does not stock any mushroom compost whatsoever so totally being lied to by the office manager. I specifically saw the rock come off the truck when it swung into the fast lane to pass another vehicle going 20 miles an hour over the posted truck speed limit????? I have windshield coverage so I was not looking for a free one!!!!! I simply wanted help with the very nominal $100 deductible they were unwilling to work with me on any level whatsoever??? Absolutely horrible customer service skills! What kind of business lies to people like that and flat out denies they had any responsibility?? These people are flat out dishonest completely liars! This company should be ashamed that they treat people in this manner rude dishonest it's absolutely despicable!
