We bought a great-looking leather sofa on 7-15-26. It was a floor model but in excellent shape. Our saleslady, Kim, was gracious and easy to work with. No difficulty receiving a veteran's discount and getting local free delivery. Two days later our sofa arrived delivered by Frank and Daryl, two polite gentlemen who were extremely professional and careful carrying the sofa up the walkway and then up some steps, through the house and then down some steps into the sunken living room. We were very impressed by their professionalism. Sierra Timberline has a great line of furniture, especially leather sofas and chairs; we are nicely pleased with our purchase and the store. It started with a cleaning and repair for my Vermont Casting stove original to the house. They did a great job with an inspection and cleaning, I was told I would need to replace the door and it was missing the catalytic box needed to work efficiently, but it was still useable as a fireplace. There was no pressure sales to replace it. I called back later to inquire about their fall sale and I was educated that I didn't need as big of stove for my little house. JC and crew were amazing, the installation was less than quoted, clean and efficient. All my answers covered regarding the new stove. Everyone at Sierra Timberline is so professional and friendly. when they installed my stove they didn't secure the pipe on the roof with braces even though it is 7 feet tall. the pipe would move when you touched it. when I mentioned it they wanted to charge me $265 for the brace. I had someone else come out and he found other problems with the installation including the stove is not offset correctly and the flashing on the roof was put on poorly. the pipe inside the house on top of the stove was missing a part. I would not recommend this company. read more

For 3 years in a row an older client of mine has had Sierra Timberline come out to light her gas faux wood stove. She said the tech told her it was "airlocked" (total BS term made to sound like he was actually doing something technical). He was there for about 10 minutes and charged her just under $200. The bill she was given described the service as a "Tune up". All he did was light the pilot on a perfectly functional stove. She didn't know that she needed to press the regulator knob in while in the pilot position before repeatedly pressing the piezo ignitor button. The tech also failed to show her what she was doing wrong, so as to pretty much guarantee another $200 service call next year. I could have talked her through the process in less than 5 min. over the phone and I wouldn't have charged her anything. read more

I hired them to install a fireplace in cert at a $1000 extra cost over the next bid due to they could install it next week.My 91 year old dad needed to sit in front of it. 1. they showed up tore out part my exist fireplace and did not have gas in the torch tanks and left me with no fireplace and a big open hole. 2. showed up 2 weeks latter and had to go back to office 2 times to get the right parts. 3. Then the guy tells me they are done. We really wanted to support a local business, with all of the hardships during the pandemic. Sadly, we not only cannot recommend Sierra Timberline but would caution anyone against working with them (at least on the fireplace side of their business). I have researched fireplaces for the last 3 years, planning on the remodel. With the shutdowns, we had to put our plans on hold but decided to move forwards and press the "easy button" and have a local company do the work. I went into their showroom in July and met the staff, but they told me that they charge $100 for someone to come out and look at our set up and make a recommendation. They offered to take the fee off the cost of a unit, if we went with them. However, in most cases, wouldn't that be considered "business development"? I'm paying you to come to my house to facilitate spending $5,000-$10,000? I then contacted another local company, Abercrombie & Co, whose owner Jim came to our house the very next day for FREE and validated a lot of our assumptions and helped recommend a product to meet our space and requirements. I wanted to give him our business, but the product that he recommended he was not an authorized seller for anymore. Not feeling like we had any options but to go with the RSF reseller (Sierra Timberline), I returned in August and asked if they would have any issues sourcing the fireplace we needed and the chimney. The salesperson, Jerod, said that getting the product would not be an issue and he could see that there was a unit arriving in Sacramento on September 23rd and they could install it October 7th. I was so glad that sourcing and the installation wouldn't be an issue and we would get it in and operational before the cold weather came. I gave them a $2,500 deposit to secure the unit and my husband checked with them on multiple occasions, to make sure that the project was on schedule before we demo'd the old fireplace. As we approached the October 7th install date, they contacted us to say that they could not get the chimney parts and would need to push out the install to Oct 25th. We are starting to get nervous now, because we have a gaping hole in our main living area with an open chimney to the outside as we had removed our main heating source in preparation for the install. Now, we have major rain forecast. My husband calls them and asks if this affects the install and was told that it would go ahead as planned. With the 25th coming fast and storm-a-geddon forecast, we can't get this in soon enough! With days to go, my husband gets a call from the junior sales rep from Sierra Timberline "hey bud, we can't do the 25th. We don't have your stove and we don't have the pipe.". WHAT?!? I paid you in August $2,500 for you to secure the stove that was coming in on Sept 23rd, how do you NOT have the stove let alone the chimney?!? I go into the store to talk with Jerod and he is so condescending and rude to me, he is glad it was me darkening his door and not my husband. They blamed it completely on the manufacturer instead of their own lack of training and lackadaisical procurement and business processes. I explained to Jerod that this is our primary source of heat and I have two small children at home, how was he going to fix this? I asked to talk with the manager, but was kept away by her gatekeepers. I asked for a refund and to have the manager call me, she called me later and said she had been in the store when I was in and heard me say that this is our primary source of heat but did not come out to the front desk to address the issue and help me. The lack of customer service let alone humanity, is shocking. They had zero sense of urgency and I ended up solving my own problem as a layperson with zero contacts or relationships with manufacturers and sourced the exact fireplace and chimney I needed for the project in 2 phone calls. Two. Phone. Calls. And, I paid $1,000 less than they wanted to charge me. Thanks for nothing, Sierra Timberline. And if you are listening Skip Stahmer, your business is not in good hands. I hope that when you are in town next, you review what's going on at your business that you built over 30+ years. read more

Finally an end to a frustrating couple of months!! (Long review: Was frustrated with other companies, Janelle is awesome, Larry and Nick did an outstanding install, charged me less than expected) Had some issues with a couple different companies (see previous reviews) so I thought I would try someone else with hopes of getting this project done. Found Sierra Temberline and gave them a call. After explaining my frustrations and experience with the previous companies, Janelle assured me I had called the right place. She told me she would call me back in 5 minutes with price and availability. Naturally I was a little skeptical with my previous experiences, but sure enough I got a phone call 5 minutes later with both price and availability! I was thrilled! Finally a company I can count on! Janelle was able to schedule the pre-site for a time that fit with my busy work schedule. Larry came out, right on time, took a few measurements and reassured me everything looked good! He confirmed our appointment for the following week and even gave me a 1 hour window of arrival! The following Thursday, the day the install was scheduled, it was pouring down rain. Worst weather we had seen all year so far! I was expecting to get a call to reschedule our appointment. But sure enough, right on time, Larry and Nick showed up! We chatted for a couple minutes and then they went right to work. They put down drop cloths and even a pad to protect our hardwood floors! 30 min in and I'm already impressed! Larry started removing bricks to get the flue pipe down the chimney and Nick had the unfortunate job of installing the flue and chimney cap. Nick was absolutely soaked once he was done! Those two guys work really well together and got the job done faster than I had expected! By the end they were both soaking wet and yet not once did they complain! I spoke with Janelle to finish paying for the job and she told me the job ended up less than the original quote!! Who does that!?! Talk about an honest company! They could have easily charged me full price and I would have never known. Needless to say, I know of only one company to recommend. The new insert works better than expected and looks great! My wife and I are more than impressed with the job, start to finish. read more

Can I give more stars!?!? Carol, Larry and everyone else was great to work with! Fantastic from start to end and $1000 less expensive than others for our Jotul gas stove. We reluctantly began our search for a replacement for our pellet stove for our log cabin. The stove was older and renters could not deal with it. We had done our research on what stove we wanted, but also got feedback from staff that had one of the two models we were looking at. Since there's so much info on the internet its nice to talk to someone who used a stove in the environment you are. Several other places did not have the stove we wanted in stock, but Sierra Timberline did. They scheduled appointments as soon as they could and did follow up when the blower was on back order. I think they were at out cabin 3-4 times which is an hour from their store. Larry was our installer and gave us his cell number. We were interested in a relatively new internet friendly thermometer and while he was not aware of the best brand for what we wanted he was interested in finding us the best brand and did some research (I think it might have even been on a weekend!) with us. They were also able to do the gas line, which saved us from hiring another person. He placed the stove perfectly and sent photos. It's been a few months and we are really happy and have had no problems. read more

Great service!! Had a previous Co. come out and replaced the computer on my pellet insert, charged me $440. Just for parts. They could not get it to work. Left and called me back the following week , said they had to rewire the unit at $1400. I waited all winter and decide to get a second opinion, and I am glad I did. Sierra Timberline sent out a well qualified tech. He checked it out and with a process of elimination determined the computer that was install was defective. He replaced the computer and tested the stove and all was good. Plus they only charged my $252 for the same computer the other Co. charged me $440. But this one worked. I have had the good fortune of working with Larry in the Service Department. Larry's knowledge and experience helped so much in resolving an issue I was dealing with. VERY GOOD PRODUCTS, BUT NOT SO GOOD AT SERVICING THEM Sierra Timberline gets 4 stars because we have purchased some excellent products from them over the years, including an outdoor furniture set which will probably last longer than we do. However, we have one real problem with Sierra Timberline: they can't seem to find a subcontractor who can fix this one window shade. We have one window shade in our living room which is about to be repaired for the 4th time. Can you believe it? We have taken this particular window shade to them three times already. Each time this shade is repaired and reinstalled, the cord starts grinding on the pulley, the cord breaks, and we have to have it repaired again. This time I am taking the window shade to Servicemaster, across from the Nevada County Fairgrounds. We used to take all our shades to Servicemaster for cleaning and repair, and never had a problem, as I recall. read more

I purchased a high end fireplace from them 3 years ago. It was delivered with a defective damper. The fire brick disintegrated in less than year. They replaced them and now that they finally got the part to repair the damper the fire brick is junk. Bad product and WORSE SERVICE!!!! Three years and still waiting!!!! Update: 11/20 Larry (the serviceman stuck in the middle) arrived with new parts and completed the repairs under warranty. I think they got it this time. read more

We recently upgraded our old wood burning stove to a gas hearth. Sierra Timberline made it super easy - great selection of products, Dan, AJ, and all the staff we worked with - were very nice, patiently explained every step of the process and helped us select the right hearth for our needs. Other companies said we'd need to get a separate contractor to first install a gas line so they could just come to install the gas hearth, but Sierra Timberline incorporates that in their process so it's a "one stop shop", no need to involve additional contractors - saved me time and money. They did the actual installation in just a couple of hours, their guys were efficient and fast. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend their services! read more

Lori has an extensive knowledge of furniture building and is also an artist. She spent a lot of time with us and helped us choose a fabric that we love. She also suggested paints that would work with the fabric since we mentioned we were thinking of painting. She was very, very helpful but not at all pushy. Horrible customer service.they installed a stove that has never worked properly . It has always emitted a very strong burning plastic odor which clearly is not due to the normal smell of a new unit that quickly burns .this lasted several seasons .we had to stop using the unit for concern our families health .the noxious fumes are so overwhelming we have to open all the doors and windows for a couple hours to air out the house .they were argumentative and dismissive and sent a "tech " whose diagnostic conclusion was " maybe there's just dust on the glass pane " and sprayed winded on it. Amazing .every winter I call to implore them to fix it.suffice it to say I am contacting Call Kurtis to move ahead with seeking a remedy through their advocacy.if this doesn't work I'm taking them to small claims court . Quality products; exceptional service. I have had a gas stove and a remote controlled retractable awning from them for about 15 years. Just had the awning fabric and electrical board replaced. Andrew is knowledgeable, helpful and great to deal with. He helped me select the replacement fabric with a deep understanding of the ratings which indicate how light and heat filter through the different types of colors and textures. I was able to make a better choice on fabric for the comfort and light in my living room. He also suggested that at about the 5-7 year point, have them come out and turn the fabric 180 degrees, so it will last longer. He replaced the electrical board and fixed the outlet, so that both units were working. I periodically have had the stove serviced and have been pleased with those folks as well. You may be able to buy a similar product for less, but for long lasting items, good service is paramount. read more

Terrible customer service. Four years ago I bought a fireplace insert from them. The guys who installed it said the blower would kick on when the thermostat came on. The blower has never worked. Now the thermostat has stopped working, and it randomly shuts off after just a few minutes. When it does come on again it gives a big whoop, like it is going to explode, then shuts off again at random. I called Sierra Timberline several times to come service it and they won't call me back. I got tired of being ignored and I got another company to come out (THAT company is farther away from us than Sierra Timberline is) and they found installation errors also. Sierra Timberline didn't even plug the blower in inside the unit. No wonder it never worked! They also didn't insulate around the exhaust tube so cold air was being drawn back into the house. Sierra Timberline will be very friendly when it comes to making a sale and taking your money, but if you are expecting quality installation and decent customer service then you should look elsewhere. read more
