Get involved with 2-hour monthly meetings to let the Mayor, the City Council, the legislature and even the Governor know wassup in your neighborhood that NEEDS IMPROVEMENT by first becoming AWARE of a problem that needs a resolution sooner or later. Get involved to MAKE IT SOONER. This is what I got. I WILL plan, God willing, to attend the McCully/Moiliili Neighborhood Board meeting on this Thursday, 12/6/18, from 6:30-8:30pm at St. Mary's Episcopal Church on S. King St. I will encourage my brother to also attend. I gained a lot listening to Chris, Janelle, Dylan and Jackson and they are to be COMMENDED with their colleagues and their Executive Director, Shawn (sp?) Hamamoto, for a job WELL DONE. They educated and inspired and MOTIVATED me to take the FIRST STEP to "return to the community" by serving the community.

Our carbon monoxide alarms went off twice. The first time I had housing replace the alarm and the second time, I was scared there might actually be carbon monoxide so I called them. Upon arrival, the captain introduced himself and reassured me that everything was going to be ok. He explained what he was going to do and took off with his team. While he was in the house with his team, another fire fighter stayed with me and walked me through more of the process. I wish I caught the gentleman's name because he was equally as sweet as the captain. In the end, nothing was wrong but faulty wires/alarm. I felt like a complete idiot but every single fire fighter reassured me that I did the right thing. What an amazing fire fighter department we have here.

Unfortunately I did not have the information to receive a copy from the Department of Health. The Health Dept. referred me to one of the local Family History Centers. The Waipahu one was the closest to my house, so I decided to stop by. The staff there was extremely helpful and spent an hour searching their records and were able to find my grandmother and grandfather's listing in the 1910 US Census (another reason you should complete your Census questionaires! Your great-grandchildren might need that info one day!). The Family History Center also provided me with a copy of the Census documents and copies of their delayed birth certificates (Hawaii birth certificates started in 1909. My grandfather was born 1908 and didn't have a birth certificate till 1947!) The Family History Center charges 35 cents for every page they print. My total price was about $5, but information about your family's past is priceless. If you are trying to fill the gaps in your family history you should stop by. No appointment necessary.
