I am thankful to know the station is nearby, and now when I hear the fire trucks blaring down Kapiolani Boulevard, I say a silent prayer of protection for these brave souls that they may continue to do what they do best -- save lives.

But suddenly three pumper trucks, a chief's wagon, and a hook-and-ladder come blasting by. They stop just a block away. Hey, this is my neighborhood, let's check out the four-alarm fire. They have all stopped in front of Nashville Waikiki, which has emptied out. All the firemen are lined up like a portrait, but it's midnight and I can't get a good shot. So the rumor is there's a gas leak in the night club. After all the firemen either go into the club or disappear somewhere else, it hits me. That's not just a hook-and-ladder. It's a hook-and-ladder-and-surfboard. The truck was standing still, so I got a shot. Check it out!
