Pretty rude when my wife called. She asked me to call because whoever was answering the phones, was just rude as if she was stupid. Mind you, I had called the day before from a number on our opener, that they had installed not too long ago. I was not returned a call and this is why my wife called for potential service. My wife reported that he was of no help but also just plain nasty attitude. So I called, he was rude as if I was bothering him. Pretty sure I can find a company that has better customer friendly service. Apology for bothering the man who is answering their phones. Spoke to John the owner and he was just giving me the around and excuses. if I would've done my homework and checked the reviews first, I wouldn't have never have gone with him since he only has 3 1/2 stars anyway. they never followed up and took care of me like they should've, they didn't back up what they were selling and they let me down, but I see they are used to doing that . lesson learned check the reviews first. read more

I have been working with KTM Door Control Inc., but their service has declined significantly over the past year. I would not recommend them. My garage door came off the railing, so they installed new railings. However, just a few weeks later, the door came off the railing again. I was able to schedule a repair for the FOLLOWING day. Tim, the technician, was there on time, replaced the entire drive system and walked me through all of the new functionality all within the shorter time frame than originally planned. I have used KTM several times for various garage maintenance issues. They have always responded very promptly, pricing is fair, and they don't try to up sell you. They fix it fast. Horrible customer service the company want to charge $129.99 for a service fee but when the technician came out he looked at my system, saying everything looked great with no issue, but still charge me the $129.99 service fee, which is ridiculous they could have charged me $25.00 and I would have been fine with that. I requested KTM to come out and repair my garage door that was not opening properly on Thursday 7-5-2023 Technician came out on Friday 7-5-2023 around 10 AM and asked what the problem was. I explained what my door was doing. The tech, even before he looked at the door and my garage door opener, stated it was my springs and he had springs from a job from yesterday he could use for a price of $600. I told the tech he needed to look and see if it may just need adjustments. The tech looked at my systems and said some adjustments might help. He did several adjustments on the springs and wheels and tested by only letting the door move 6-10 inches. He fully opened the door. I was charged $98 for spraying lubricants on the springs and a few nuts tightened up. The tech started loading up his equipment and I closed my door all the way, it worked fine. But, when I tried to open the door it only opened 3 feet, stopped then closed. I tried to open the door 4 additional times. I was able to flag the tech down before he left and he said he saw the door was nor opening or not working. He worked on my garage door/opener/and spring for another 2+ hours. I saw this tech move my garage door where there was an 8" difference in one side of the garage to the other and the guide rails for the wheels bending. I finally had to tell him he was damaging the equipment more that repairing it. After working on it for 3 1/2+ hours, the tech finally said the only thing he could do is come back tomorrow with another tech to be able to properly adjust the door. I said fine, someone will be here to meet with them. That is when the tech told me he was going to replace the spring. At that time, I requested a supervisor to my house because this tech had already decided before he arrived at my house to replace my spring whether it was needed or not. The tech said fine then got inside his truck and left. After requesting tech to have a supervisor come by, I was not contacted by anyone with KTM. I contacted KTM at 281-440-9493 around 4 PM and requested to talk with a supervisor and was told there was no supervisor on duty. I requested to talk with the owner and was told the owner will contact me as soon as possible. The owner contacted me around 6 PM and told me he had not talked with the tech but wanted to get my side first and would contact me after talking with the tech. I did not hear back from this company until Monday afternoon around 2 PM and it was a front desk person that called, the Owner did not think an unhappy customer needed to be talked with. The front desk person told me that they were talking with the Manufacturer of the spring system and it was going to be 6 to 10 weeks before the part could be available. I contacted GARAGE DOOR DOCTOR at 281-855-9300 and explained to them my garage door issues. Garage Door Doctor sent Technician Jake out the same day. Jake looked over the system, explained what he felt needed to be repaired immediately and gave the price of all. I would not recommend KTM for any garage door repair. Can not put a 0 STAR so had to give a 1 STAR to complete this review. read more

Unfortunately we recently needed to replace our garage door. As frustrating as it can be to get hit with this unplanned expense and inconvenience, the KTM team really showed up. They promptly had Mike (red shirt) come out to assess and provide a quote. Mike was knowledgeable, and helped guide us to the best option for our needs. The next day, Bryan and Mike (tall Mike, the castle and landscape charcoal artist) arrived to do the install. They make a great team. After an expert install, they took the extra time to cut out a painting my daughter had done on the inside of our old door. Very thoughtful! I contacted KTM because my husband used them previously. The garage door was openening less than halfway and closing; then stopped altogether and I had to operate it manually for several days (Code 41). When the gentleman came out, he stated he knew the problem was the belt and showed me where the belt was beginning to shred. He wasn't equipped with the correct length belt; as he began to try to supposedly fix the problem, he told me it would take a while and told me I could leave (prior to this, I was watching what he was doing.) I had a strong feeling it wasn't going to end well, based on his actions. After being in the garage for quite a while, he told me "we have a problem; you need a new motor". I wasn't happy and thought that may have been why he dismissed me. He didn't have an opener on his truck and didn't offer to get one, said I could order one and he could come back and install it. He gave me prices for belt or chain type ($779 & $679,respectively ) and left. I purchased a new opener. The service man who came to install the new opener said there was nothing wrong with the motor. Basically, I received no service from the KTM guy and was charged $129.00 for him showing up and causing me to replace a door opener, unnecessarily. Even though I called KTM later to inquire about pricing (whether or not the service charge would be deducted from the cost, I did not get a response; which was also suspect. Horrible service. My home warranty company contracted them out for garage door repair. The technician came out and diagnosed the problem as the spring and not covered under my warranty. O.K. I still need my garage door repaired. ( Already paid the 75.00 service fee via C.C). Technician quoted an additional $275.00 but told my wife he must order the parts and return in less than a week. I called another Garage Door company @ 3:00 and asked for help. Their Technician was on my property in 45 minutes...not the three-hour window given by KTM. The repair was made in one hour for a total of $220.00 with tax. (O' Brien Garage Door) I received a phone call from Jim with KTM the next morning and I told him what I went through and repair was already made. Jim proceeded to call me a LIAR and his company was never at my house. I have their truck on a security camera so I proceeded to explain to him I could email the footage. Was hung up on. I Do NOT Recommend this company!! All they want is to collect the Home Warranty service fee then charge more than any other company charges. I've used KTM a couple of times and I am serious when I say they are straight forward and honest. They did a very fairly priced and honest repair on my home in Spring, Tx a few years back and then I moved into Houston and because of the previous job they did, I tried them again to repair my fiancé's garage door in the Heights. She had a company come out before talking to me and they tried to tell her she needed a new opener, springs, rails the whole nine yards. I told her I'd call KTM and they did just as they had done before. They came out fixed a simple issue for her and charged her a very reasonable repair fee. They are good guys and I will definitely always give them the first shot on any garage door install or repairs I have. read more

I would give zero stars but yelp doesn't allow it. Mike came out to look at garage door. He was sent by One Guard. First thing he said after I introduced myself to him was, "how did this happen?" I asked him what he meant by that because clearly if I was in the business of garage doors I wouldn't need anyone's help. I told him I opened up the garage door and that I saw a chain hanging. He then took three minutes to access the situation before calling One Guard claiming that this was "not normal". I again asked him what he meant by that which he responded with a head shake. Not sure why he wouldn't want to fix the garage door or why he would think that I would break my own door. Stay far away from a company like this. Jim called me right away when I sent a query via Yelp requesting a quote to replace an old and weakened torsion spring. BUT, his recommendation was just to apply some lubrication and wait until the spring snapped before replacing it. He then refused to answer my subsequent queries when I simply asked if it were possible to purchase the needed parts without labor. (I know that some companies will refuse to sell certain parts without installation, but usually they will at least say that, versus blowing off a Yelp Customer completely.) When I finally did get the torsion spring replaced (ordered from Home Depot), I found that the torsion rod was almost worn through in the middle due to KTM having neglected to install a center bearing when they replaced the torsion spring many years ago. I am soooo glad that I ignored KTM's advice and replaced the torsion springs and pole proactively (and added a center bearing this time), versus waiting for the heavy pole and spring to snap in half and come crashing down on somebody. read more

Technician Mike comes out to my house after I called my Home Warranty Company **** One Guard Home Warranty ****. Mike makes all repairs to my garage door opener, then calls One Guard regarding the repairs. One Guard was about to cover the claim when Mike says, "Wait a minute, in my opinion this was caused by a power surge." Therefore One Guard says they will not cover the claim. I now am stuck paying KTM $330.00 out of pocket, and then KTM turns around and sends One Guard a bill for $60.00 service fee. However I paid the bill in full to KTM at the time the work was done. Their receipt given to me says balanced owed: $0.00. However Jay at KTM says they never collect the Service fee from the customer, however, look at what my contract with One Guards states: "OneGuard will initiate service within 24-48 hours. You are responsible for paying a service fee of $60 to the Service Contractor dispatched for each claim. All service fees must be paid in full prior to service being performed." When I tried to speak to Jay at KTM, he was less than interested and told me to just take it up with One Guard Home Warranty. However it is KTM claiming I didn't pay them in full. One Guard is now trying to collect another $60.00 from me because KTM is trying to get an additional $60.00 on top of the $330.00 I've already paid them.... The serviceman fixed the garage opener but did not address the door springs, which were the reason it broke in the first place. When I asked about them, he rolled his eyes as though he was hoping I wouldn't ask, and then after some heavy sighs, he admitted that they were the wrong springs for the door. Why wouldn't you fix them in the first place? It wasn't covered by the warranty so that was additional money for them. It felt as though asking them to do work was a burden, and I did not appreciate it. Since they had to come back the next day, I had to miss an extra day of work, so the burden was mine, not theirs. read more

My home owner's warranty does not cover garage door systems. I looked at Yelp and KTM was the closest to my house. I called at 3:30 on Tuesday and they offered to come out the same day but our schedules didn't match. They said they would be there first thing Wednesday morning and Terry arrived at 8:30 am. He looked at the garage, gave me the price to repair, which was very reasonable, and it took him about 20 minutes to repair it. I definitely recommend them. read more

We had a garage door issue when our home was still under warranty and the company sent KTM out to fix it. They replaced one of our mother boards and put company stickers on our garage door. I asked the tech if they did automatic driveway gates and he said they did and he would get back with me on a quote. I never heard back and we decided to put off our gate install for another year. A few months ago when we were ready to put in the gate I reached out to KTM again to ask for someone to come out and give us a quote. The receptionist was wonderful, but the gentlemen quoting me gave me the impression that they did not want my business. Over the phone before asking to schedule anything he continuously gave me negative information 1. they wouldn't be able to install anything for MONTHS (Not a specific next available time) 2. It was going to cost me at least $5,000 (this was without looking at my house, specific gate choices, or my power requirements). When I told him that I would still like for them to come out and give me a quote I was told that they would call me back when someone was in my area and could stop by. I haven't heard from anyone since that time. Subsequently I have had the other companies quote the job for far less than the phone quote I was given. The work on the garage door under our warranty company was very professional and efficient. I just don't get the impression that this company wants to be in the driveway gate business, or maybe they don't want to drive into Houston for jobs. I'm not sure which. I do not like leaving negative reviews, but nothing bothers me more than when someone at a company that I am taking time to seek out to pay for their services acts like they don't want my business. It's fine to say that you are too busy to take on new business, but very frustrating to receive bogus quotes over the phone and feel as though you are being put off. read more

Do Not use this company. Jim the owner is very condescending.I I Ordered 4 remotes, Had them programmed, They Forgot to program my keypads, Came back and programmed. Fine. Thankful for honest companies like KTM!! I had called out another company and they wanted over $1000 to repair my door. I called KTM and they were able to give me a comparable price quote over the phone and alerted me to the SCAM I was about to be part of. I sent that company away and let KTM do the work. The price was actually less than quoted because most of the work the other company wanted to do was not necessary. My $1000 bill was less than $300. I will be a KTM customer from now on. read more

Guy shows up and is disingaging to me. Checks the remotes and tell me they are not working. They were working as of yesterday. He goes to truck and replaces HIS machine batteries. Oh the remote do work. Takes s flash light and shines it up at garage door opener. Doesnot see the sensitivity button and learn button he is done for the day. Doesn't even try to get on the ladder to look for the problem. Takes pictures and goes to his truck. Write on the ticket that the garage door opener has been abused. What does that mean??? Collects his fee and leaves. Horrible horrible service. Will never use them again Oh calls my husband to tell him what he didn't find and tells my husband he doesn't know what he is talking about bc he didn't see any buttons and my husband did. read more

Shocking lack of respect over the phone. Called to get information on how to sync my gate at home with a new car, and was treated to a mocking singsong voice as someone spoke to me the way one would speak to a child. When I told the man I was speaking to that I didn't appreciate his tone of voice, he replied that he was just trying to get some information. Well, you'd probably get more information if you weren't so busy interrupting and patronizing. Have to give a one star for the terribly unpleasant customer service I experienced from, of all people, the OWNER (Jim) of this company. I was playing text tag with my tenant who was giving me tidbits of her conversation with the technician (Terry) who was there at the house to fix the garage. The tec was telling her that this particular issue with the garage will not be covered by my home warranty (AHS) as I had expected (based on my prior convo with AHS). To clarify this discrepancy, I quickly called their office where I was transferred to a man who had absolutely no interest in verifying my very simple question, which was: did the technician actually talk to AHS to verify coverage before determining the item was not covered. That's it. He immediately responded that the tec did indeed call and it was verified. I knew this was clearly speculatory since not enough time had lapsed for ANY of this to have taken place (my tenant texted me when the tec arrived so I knew how much time had lapsed since the tec's arrival). After some unpleasant back and forth during which this man had the attitude of "how dare you question me", it was clear that he had no intentions of calling the tec to confirm, so I asked if I can just be connected to the technician. No, waddaya need to talk to him for, I'm telling you the answer. Ok, is there a manager? Waddaya need a manager for, there's only so many ways to tell you the same thing five times. Ok, is there anyone else I can talk to? No, cuz I'm the OWNER. WOW! And you're proud of the fact that of all the people I dealt with in your company, the OWNER had the worst attitude toward his paying customer?? Laughable!!! And the best part: so I hung up and called my TENANT to get the technician, Terry, on HER phone and his exact words were "No, I actually have NOT called your home warranty company to verify coverage yet... I was speculating based on my past experience... In fact, that was Jim (THE OWNER) on my phone just now and he was telling me to call AHS immediately to get verification because the home owner (ME) was concerned." So waddaya know?!?! He HADN'T called yet to verify after all... which was precisely what I was calling your office to confirm. Such a simple request from a customer for a peace of mind before authorizing an out-of-pocket repair... One that an OWNER of a business should understand. Five stars for Terry (who took the time and got me that peace of mind, GREAT attitude). ZERO stars for the owner and the deplorable customer service he provided. I will be filing a complaint about this company with AHS for having to call my TENANT's phone to get in touch with the tec that came to my property because the business owner refused to call his own tec or provide me his contact. And more importantly, for advising a customer that their warranty has insufficient coverage without even verifying. FYI, I've had two instances in the past where the tec said an item wasn't covered under home warranty and it actually was. Always best to verify; even for a nominal repair as this one. read more
