Not really a handyman service according to my experience. More like a business using the idea of a handyman to get through the door and upsell their products. I wanted to get a leaky faucet fixed and when the dude came out (nice enough guy, not the owner) he informed me that repairing the faucet would cost the same as replacing it. Sounded fishy to me but whatever, fixed is fixed, so I said ok and let me know how much and when. I was informed that he'd talk to the boss and get back to me. That was the last time I heard from them. Called and left a message but no reply. After that irritation I bought a kit and figured out how to repair the faucet myself for less than twenty bucks. So maybe I owe them a thank you for showing how unnecessary the business is in the first place? read more

Highly recommend. I contacted Heights Handyman to replace failing, ugly wrought-iron railing on my front porch. Scott was very responsive and offered a brilliant solution that was not only aesthetically pleasing, but also cost effective. Had them do some small projects like install part of a fence and make another one more secure. The person who did the work didn't do a very good job and used non-galvanized screws which not surprisingly, they rusted with the rain. We just assumed they knew to use galvanized screws for an outdoor fence but apparently they don't have a knack for the obvious. I wouldn't recommend them based on the mediocre quality. There are too many contractors in Houston to go with one who doesn't take pride in their work. Pros: They showed up which is half the battle with contractors. They did the work. Cons: They didn't do a very good job and didn't care about the quality of their work. read more

Scott was pretty easy to work with, although he wasn't on the spot as far as communication. I hired him to paint my garage door and trim, and power wash and stain my deck, as well as some little odd jobs inside. All the work was done in a neat and through manner. However, I have spent two years growing ornamental grasses in my backyard to disguise my AC unit. I can understand if the painters needed to trim them back to paint. However, without asking, they pulled them out by the roots and dumped them on the other side of the AC unit. When I pointed this out to Scott, not only did he not apologize, he made no comment at all. So, while the work was done well, and in a timely manner, and the cost was reasonable, I am only giving three stars, due to the lack of respect for my landscaping. read more

I thought long and hard before writing this review. My goal was only write positive reviews this year; however, I felt it was important to communicate my experience because I don't think the other reviews here reflect my experience. So, why am I two-starring this company? I asked these guys to install some garage storage and they did two things that made a positive review not possible: (1) They installed it incorrectly, in fact they installed it the exact way that the instruction manual said NOT to do it (you know a big picture with NO and an X through the picture). When I pointed it out, at first, the individuals stated there was nothing they could do. Finally after showing the manual and explaining how to properly install it, they said they could redo it but since they were being paid by the hour, I would have to pay them more. So, I accepted an improperly installed storage. I accepted that the improperly installed devices could still hold lightweight objects but could not store heavier items. (2) On initial request, they provided me an estimate of 70 dollars per hour for likely 4 hours. I unpackaged everything, organized the items before they came so that it would be more efficient and take less time. Two guys came and they finished installing in 1.75 hours so I paid for 2 hours, $140. I called to get confirmation of the final bill and neither the office or the owner responded. I gave the workers a $140 check as the owner requested I do. Later that day, the office emailed me back and stated, that since they sent 2 people, they wanted more money. I never received notice beforehand if it was a 1 or 2 individual job nor that there was a charge difference. I only was told the job was $70/hour. Instead of fighting over the up charge I just paid them. But, to me it seems like a bait and switch with misquoting/mis-communicating charges. I spent a long time considering whether or not to write this review as they seemed like an ok company that did ok work but didn't quite meet my expectations in terms of quality and transparency/communication. In the end, I thought sharing my experience would be important for others when choosing a contractor. read more
