June Monthly Event Nails (Gel Design - Natural Nails) $90
Sharon M.

I keep on going back; I'm obsessed! Here are two of the designs that I really liked from this place. (I usually either do the Monthly Event Nails, which are only $90 for pretty good & complex designs, or designs from their TikTok/Insta since I know for a fact that they would be able to replicate them.) So far, I've gone to Azeilis and JJ, and they're both super talented and careful (making sure that every step is done meticulously and that my nails look perfect by the end). Disclaimer: yes, this place can be a bit pricey, but it's definitely worth the QUALITY! The Gel X lasts 6+ weeks. Even Basic Gel Manicures last for 8+ weeks. (Even by 8 weeks, my nails are still going super strong -- no chipping or breaking!) I used to only go to ~$40 nail salons, but they would chip or break in just a week. I've only gone to Krystal Oh ever since experiencing the better quality, service, AND designs.

Been following Krystal for awhile after finding her on tiktok and onto Instagram when she was looking for free models. I've been going to my local Russian gel manicure place in astoria for years since I loved how clean and healthier their gel options were vs a traditional nail salon. The atmosphere is very pink, clean, & super cute!! I wanted to finally try something different since I had a music festival and my spot is limited on what they can do for designs after going there for years. So reverting back to Asian nail art, I knew this was a place I definitely wanted to give a shot. I ended up booking with JJ who was very sweet and amazing with her skills to produce exactly what I wanted! I posted some pics on how my nails looked before (from my Russian manicure spot/haven't done it for 2 months) vs what JJ produced after! I'm honestly flabbergasted by the negative reviews here as prices are pretty fair for the work these techs do. I highly recommend and will be back soon! I paid a total of $90 + $30 removal -$40 deposit + $40 tip = which landed me around $200 plus tax (yes it's pricey but in reality it's fair for the stuff they do). I recommend going in with realistic expectations on prices and guesstimating one would spend minimum $200 and you will be happily satisfied.

Gel-x advanced design

I've been going to Krystal Oh Nails for a few months now and I leave with the most perfect nails every single time. I get gel-x and an advanced design which Krystal executes flawlessly. The nails last so long and I always get so many compliments on them. They use quality products and really pay attention to detail and nail care. The staff is always super nice and welcoming, cute pink decor, and good music always playing. I love how it's not too loud in there and it really feels super relaxing. Love this place, will keep going back!! Highly recommend if you're looking for cute nail designs and quality service!

I want to warn others about the quality/pricing here. I paid almost $200 for a very mediocre set of nails. I came in needing a gel x removal and new gel set (on natural nails) but ended up asking for gel x because my nails felt so thin as my nail tech removed my old set. The removal process was kind of painful and my nails got really hot a few times. The gel x application was really messy and I got gel under my natural nails. The design itself was fine, but the nail tech added huge globs of hard gel around the design and it looked insanely bulky. The pearls I asked for ended up looking like pimples! They also used really affordable gel polish I've ordered from amazon (Gaoy) so I was super disappointed by the "high quality Korean gel polishes" they marketed on tiktok. The nail tech was this super sweet Korean woman, so I had a hard time speaking up about what I didn't like - and that's totally on me. If the gel x application was messy because I added that on last minute, I wish they just told me they didn't have enough time. I felt so ugly with my clunky nails for the last three weeks. I've had gel x sets done so many times and this is the most I've paid for the lowest quality set. I went to another nail salon in NY to get these removed and the entire service was $75 cheaper, the work was cleaner, and the quality of the products/tool were higher. Not leaving 1 star because of how nice the staff were and the retention was great. The set lasted 3+ weeks but I kinda wish they didn't.

My friend found Krystal Oh nails through Tiktok!! We booked our appointments in advance, and were thoroughly helped over the phone when we had questions about pricing. The vibes of all of the women here are immaculate!!! Stephanie (gems) and Azeilis (pink) slayyyed our inspo pics!! The bathroom was clean, and the music was great, consisting of BTS, twice, and NCT and more. :) We both got Gel-X extensions design (simple) 10/10 will be back. Gvaf

I've been going to get my nails done with Krystal for a few months now and I don't think I can go anywhere else again. Every time I show her a design, she executes it flawlessly and I'm never disappointed. I go about every 4-6 weeks and my nails always last until my next appointment! You can tell she uses high quality products. Ever since I started getting my nails done here, people have not stopped complimenting them! I'm always excited for my next appointment.

I've been to Krystal Oh Nails multiple times and I'm always SO impressed with the quality of my nails!! The last time I got gel x nails here, they lasted 2 MONTHS without any lifting! These are the best quality nails I've ever gotten, and the shape is so flattering (some other salons will add extensions that are too wide and make my nails look too chunky, but the extensions I get here are always perfect!!) The nail artists here are so talented and the service is always great. Best nail salon in NYC!!

I been wanting to write a review for this salon for a while but I was a bit busy and finally able to write one. I found Krystal on Tik Tok for years when she was giving free nail to her follower, she finally has a store in Manhattan and I decided to get my nail done from her for my bday nails back in August. She was amazing and sweet, I was worry that my design was a bit hard for her to do since I'm an extra girly and love detail. She told me it wouldn't be exactly like the photo that I show her but she will do her best to make it as similar as possible and I trust her. I'm so glad I trust her on it, the nail turn out amazing, it last me more than a month and still look amazing before I decided to take it off. Definitely will be back again!!

I normally don't write reviews but I want to warn other people about the pricing. This is my first time getting my nails professionally done at a salon. I picked Krystal Oh Nails because they specialize in Korean style nails. I got an older lady as my nail tech and she was super lovely, I enjoyed chatting with her. The salon itself was incredibly cute and I loved the decor. However, what I got was simply not worth the exorbitant price. I had asked for a simple black monochromatic ombre design similarly to the 1st picture. The tech recommended adding glitter pigment to make the design more interesting and I agreed thinking it would be subtle. It turned out very blue and covers up the black ombre I wanted. The ombre looks harsh as a result. I ended up paying in total ($41.80 deposit to book the appointment, $78.38 for the gel manicure on my natural nails, and $10 for tip) In total, $130.18. Super ouch. I was kind of intimidated to complain during the process because the tech was a Korean auntie and I know how hard it is to make a living doing nails in NY as a first-gen immigrant. So that's on me for having ingrained filial piety. Lovely experience but won't return for a second visit due to pricing/not quite hitting the mark for what I wanted. :(

I want to start off by saying...what a kind, warm, and utterly welcoming salon. I was almost late due to NYC traffic, but the kind ladies gave me a 15 min grace period which saved the day! I came in and had no true idea exactly what I wanted. I told Jess the nail artist "I'm seeing TWICE today, and this is my outfit." When I tell you she went fully nail fairy godmother...she really did! She came up with an amazing idea that honestly I was so nervous as normally I don't give away full creative control, but baby did she show me what she was workin with! She came up with a beautiful artsy pastel design to match my cloud dress! We spoke as she did my nails, and she was very gentle and asked questions to get to know me to get more understanding of my style (she used it to find out I like glitter and added some for me for finishing touches since I love glitter! How touching!) As someone who has bad anxiety, I wish all my nail experiences were this neat, clean and utterly friendly. Every nail tech I saw had a smile on and was talking to their client in such a lovely manner. That may sound like bare minimum, but it isn't these days. It's hard to find good quality and a friendly face these days, so I'm very grateful at how comforting the service was. I went to my concert with complete confidence, and got so many endless compliments on my nails! In regards to price, it may get a little pricey but I wanna make it clear 1. They give you an idea of the price upfront. 2. Gems and gel have always been a luxury service so luxury price you will pay. 3. It was well worth it for me!!! As I'm a native NYer but now that I live down south it's hard to find this kind of gel service so it was worth it for me! One of my gems had a small issue, and they had NO ISSUE getting me right back in to fix it free of charge. No questions asked. Thank you again girlies! Love the hard work and beautiful designs! I will for sure be back from now on my all my kpop concerts! (September for Aespa! Lol). Nothing feels better than getting a luxury service done, and being happy with it as well as having others compliment it. When I say I sent the link to their shop so many times at this point from posting my nails on social media.

Just don't book your appointment the night before cause all the experienced nail technicians will be taken.. The first time I went there (it was a walk in) the nail technician did a great job. It was also full color. But this time I went in it looked so bad I had to go to another place to remove it.... I should've spoken up, but the nail technician was nice and seemed to love my nails. I would only recommend this place if you book the right nail technician. It also costed $95 (before tip‍) It was hand painted and glitter (so I understand the pricing) but just the design was not what I wanted. (She did not ask if I wanted the glitter which is okay. The glitter does not seem to be the problem its the ombre......) (Last photo is reference photo)

Fourth finger: not sure if it's clearly depicted but I bled in 3 places. Also the nail job itself is just okay

Nail technician made me bleed I booked an appointment here because my regular nail salon couldn't fit me last minute. My friend watches the owner's Youtube channel, and after a few videos I was convinced because she seemed really sweet and knowledgeable. I came in late, so I was grateful they could accommodate me. There were 4 stations, and two older women plus the owner Krystal were working on clients. My technician Lisa came out and everything was fine until she asked to cut my cuticles. I've had this done in the past, but gently, so I said yes. On my second (left) hand, she nicked my fourth finger. I understand if this could have been an accident, but she was shifty and wiped my blood away to pretend like it didn't happen. Obviously I had to get my hand back at some point, and when I did, I saw that the edges were literally crusty green and light purple. And, of course, red where one place was still bleeding. She told me to wash my hands and proceeded to lather lotion on top of the wound. I visually seemed a bit distressed because I've bled once and got an infection before at a salon where I have never returned to, and she wasn't disinfecting or any process that would ease my discomfort. To this, she told me that I was making HER nervous and uncomfortable... ultimately I said it was fine and winced through the pain whenever she used her own nail to press down on the wound to get rid of excess polish. At the end of the service, my nails by themselves were mid at best (did not look like the reference photo) but I was unhappy with the reaction to the cuts. I did ask up front what their process is for sanitizing the clippers, and they apparently soak them after every client, but I witnessed one client come in after another and the same pair was used... I will not be going back and don't recommend Lisa if you want to try Krystal's salon from Youtube. At the very least, I can't say much about the quality of the other three technicians but I did not have a good experience here. In total, the gel mani was around $70--it does not look or feel worth it.

I've had gel designs done by Krystal every 4 weeks for 6-7 months now and have never been disappointed. Shared pictures of some of my favorites. I request pretty boring designs compared to some of her other clients, but she's done a great job of understanding my favorite colors and styles. They last the full 4 weeks and have never chipped or broken (but I keep my nails natural and pretty short). Somehow they look decently good even at 4 weeks growth, which I never got to with just regular color. It's full priced, but in my opinion well worth the splurge to make me happy every time I see my hands! It's like choosing a hair color salon - you can probably find it cheaper somewhere else, but it's something you want to invest in with better products and find a go-to person you really trust.

Overpriced for mediocre work. $270 for short almond is insane. They will charge you extra to file the nail down also.

It truly creates a relaxing atmosphere. However, I've noticed that the quality of the mani & pedi has declined over the years, which has made me hesitant to return, even though it's in the most convenient location for me. These days when I returned, it's just for last minute color change to avoid more damage. I referred a friend to join me for a mani/pedi once, and she also mentioned that while the ambiance is great, but the owners should get their own mani & pedi done by their technicians, which I completely agree with. While I usually don't like getting my cuticles pushed or cut, I really appreciate that they respected that preference. However, when it comes to removing polish, it's done very recklessly with a lack of attention to detail. On several occasions, they've scraped the skin around the nails--sometimes cutting it to the point where it bled and required a bandage. When I mentioned this to the hostess after she asked for feedback, she dismissed it by saying I have sensitive skin. Since when is it normal for skin to be scraped during a mani/pedi? Additionally, I've had gel mani here twice in a row, and the technician over-shaved to the point where my nails ended up paper-thin that I have to ask the technician to apply extra coats to make up for it. One time, the technician even touched my skin with the machine that is used to shave the gel polish off. I've also had my skin scraped during pedicures, which is concerning. Every time I get a gel mani, within two weeks, the polish would start to lift on the cuticle side, which shows a lack of precision during the application. My friend got a regular mani & pedi here, and one of her nails chipped within a day. While I still love the atmosphere and the owners, the decline in the quality of the services, especially regarding polish removal, nail care, and attention to detail, has made me hesitant on coming back.

The interior design of the space is what pulled my attention when walking up 9th Ave. It is chic yet accessible and never approaches being or feeling gaudy. Very clean look (and space). Great color palate used. Very comfortable chairs. Good use of white space accentuated with green angular paint and golden decals and other ornamentations, all done minimally and with purposeful placement. Carmen (my nail tech) made good efforts and took obvious care to give me a nice buff manicure, all for only $27 (+ a small amount of tax). No nips or cuts. No pain. Textbook technique. Picked up well on when I wanted to zen out to the aura of the space and the well-curated spa playlist vs when I was open to a little nail tech kiki. Loved the sugar scrub they use for the hand massage. I take ownership for not getting the pre-cuticle work nail soak as part of the provided service. IMO, if a nail salon doesn't automatically incorporate the soak into your mani, you as the customer should speak up when the softening gel is pulled out and before it is applied. If they don't offer it? That's another thing. But I didn't test those waters and cannot speak to Nail Me Right (goodness gravy I love the business name!). So, keep in mind if the soak is your thing. They were very accommodating from the moment I arrived until I left. So I have a hunch this request wouldn't be a problem. Same with the end result. You as the customer are responsible for checking your nails / hands / feet / whatever before ending the appointment. I was late for my next appointment and did not, later seeing I would've like a little extra work done where the far end of nail edges meets the finger and a shinier buff applied. Again, I am quite sure Carmen would have accommodated had I done my part and spoken up before leaving. Still, I woke up the next morning to those slight extra bits naturally working themselves out (which points to the moisturizing measures NMR applies being of good quality), and my hand looking nice. I plan to pop in next time I'm in the area and in the market for some nail / hand / foot love, and hope you'll consider doing the same to support this family and what they're working to bring to the neighborhood.
