SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!! I received an acrylic fill-in with gel polish. At $70 (originally $66 but keep reading) it was bit overpriced, but I was in dire need of a fill-in so I said okay. When it came time for me to tip, the nail tech (an older woman) berated me for trying to tip on my card and said that she was going to tax my tip. Instead of this, I said I would just tip in cash. Then she demanded to know how much I was tipping her before she even ran my credit card for the cost of the service and then increased the cost of the service by $4 since I wasn't paying cash. I'm not sure who taught them business etiquette, but you run the card first for the cost of the service and then the customer tips afterwards. Completely unprofessional and I'm mad I even tipped at all. Now let's get to the service... the nail tech nicked me THREE times (without apologizing) but more importantly, the gel polish chipped tremendously (see pics) in less than 24 hours!!! Clearly their products are cheap because I've had regular polish that lasts longer than this. Overall quality of work 4/10 Cleanliness 6/10 Questionable if they are cleaning instruments after used, they certainly appear to be using the nail file on repeated customers. Same with the buff block they repackaged it and put it in a drawer, not sure if I should be concerned by that! They certainly did not offer for me to keep the buff block. It was still pretty busy inside, but this seems to be a popular place due to the affordable price and Midtown location. Nicely done gel manicure from the tech. I've noticed a lot of people taking issue with the staff asking for tips - if you can't afford to tip at least 20% on a $30 nail job while the tech spends 40 minutes meticulously doing your nails then you might be the one with the issue. They seriously take their time to make sure everything is well-done, and we're in the middle of Manhattan, AND this place charges less than others. Tip your nail tech properly! Terrible!!! Had the worst experience today. Been going there for a while , in fact my whole company goes there. Not anymore !!!! As soon as I Walked in I was greeted aggressively with " you Have cash!!??" They the. Proceeded to talk back and forth yelling speaking there language. To top it off the manicurist must have been upset because she kept squeezing my hands and fingers as if she was going to crush them while continuing to yell. I came here in a hurry before a graduation I was attending. I came in for a mani pedi, which I got in half an hour. The service was very quick. I don't know if they sensed that I was in a hurry, or if they work at the pace of the city. At the moment it was exactly what I needed, but I think I would've been a little bit bummed if I was looking for a more relaxing experience. The employees were very nice, and they were very prompt in fixing three of my toe nails that got ruined after trying to put on my heels. Went to get my nails and toes done on a Friday because I had an anniversary dinner on Saturday, came here because it's across the street from my house. I told them i wanted SNS done and just a toe polish change. They gave me a whole pedicure and charged me extra for it. They made me sit in the pedicure chain while one did my feet and one did my nails at the same time. They charged me $85.50 , plus an extra $10 that ( $5 for each lady) in tips. So basically $100 for nails! What a rip off. I guess those are the prices you get for Midtown, Manhattan tho. Overall my hands and feet came out nice but they took an hour and a half and charged me way too much for my nails. Don't know if i'll be returning. read more

On any given day, this popular nail salon is busy with clients who work in the city and are on their lunch hour. (Me being one of them.) Overall, it's a clean and well respected spot and I'd definitely recommend it for random "walk-ins" as I've been here plenty of times in the past three years. However, today I got my nails done by Cindy and was impressed with her work. Not only did she not make me feel rushed, she didn't cut corners while painting my nails like most manicurists are known to do so a refill is needed sooner. She took her time and even offered a third coat since my nails had not reached the color intended. Used to come here because it is right across the street from my job but last Thursday/Friday will be the LAST time I patronize them!! (Midtown) After they completed the requested service they asked if I wanted the "Quick dry" nail polish. I asked them how long does it take to.dry and if it's for the toes too. They said about 5min and it's for the toes too. I said fine. So while it was drying I lost track of time because I was on the internet on my phone and realized I sat under the dryer an additonal FIFTEEN MINUTES... Went back to.work for another hour before I left. When I got home and took of my socks the nail polish on both big toes were completely smudged and halfway off. Odd because that only happens for non quick dry nail polish when youve sat there for only about 10 minutes. I sat for a total of like 20. So I went back the next day and the owner said okay fine get your polish and get those toes re-done. Great. Problem is I didnt take note of the name or brand of the nail polish initially. So they had like 50 and they all pretty much looked the same. After about 5 minutes of me and a worker trying to figure out which it.was.she suggested I take any random one and she will try to make it blend. Ummm hell no I wanted the color that I chose or I will choose somethong else. So I suggested they simply remove the nail polish and re-do it with a color of my choosing. Not the entire scrubbing soaking pedicure part- just the polish. The owner proceeds to tell me they are doing me a "favor" by not charging me to redo.the 2 toes and if I WANT a polish change it will be $3. It's not their fault it wasn't dry and I shouldve worn flip flops to ensure the job wouldnt smudge. Lastly its more of a guarantee for the hands not the feet!! Sooo many thing wrong with ALL of that. I don't go into businesses and ask for favors. If I like the service youre offering I pay the price listed. Consequently, your service should be true to the offer. They werent doing me a damn favor. They engaged in false advertising and should have made amends. They falsley stated the polish was quick dry. Never stated I should walk out of there in flip flops (in NYC February weather). And I specifically asked them about the toes and they offered NOT ONE DISCLAIMER. Lastly, it was 3p on a Friday when I returned and there wasnt anyone waiting for service. How much time and money product wise would it have cost them to put two coats of colored paint on my toes and one coat of clear paint after? Not fifty cents worth of product. And the dismissive, curt attitude I recieved from the owner after YEARS of patronizing them was baffling. Cheap nail polish and poor customer service. There are about 10 other nail salons within a quarter mile of this and 3 of them are 2 blocks away. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

Please save your money and go else where or do it yourself. I wanted to treat my aunt to a mani and pedi because she never had one before. I had to pay upfront first with TAX which is unheard of before they started anything. Never had nail services taxed in six other states but maybe it's a New York thing? I dk... anyways so paid up front. We were in the chairs for no longer than 5-7 minutes. They were sloppy with their work and we felt extremely rushed. They were talking shit about other customers in Chinese and I should've taken that as a sign. We also know Chinese and they were saying really racist things too. Like hella mean but to the customers face the manager was calling them "honey". While waiting for our nails to try, probably around 10 minutes we were told our fingers and toes are done. How do they know? They didn't check. They were rushing us out because they need the seats for other customers. I was never rushed out of a salon before - never. And every technician I had prior would apply ointment or oil after nails are done and check to see if the nails are dried. This place did not do either. I'll admit I didn't tip because they did a horrible job and customer service wasn't great. We left feeling anxious instead of happy/relaxed. I was upset because that's money I'll never get back. On my way out, the manager yelled "hey aren't you going to tip?" We got home and our finger and toe nails are screwed. From putting on shoes when they were still wet and the manager didn't offer to fix my nails for me. Another reason I didn't tip. I too stumbled across this place, lured in by the Thursday/Friday $22.99 mani-pedi deal. I might not have popped in had I read the reviews first but I'm glad I did. The woman that did my pedicure paid great attention to detail, putting in the extra effort to get them into good shape (they were in a bad upon arrival!). Yes, everyone was chatting and laughing (in addition to microwaving and eating their lunches) but I didn't feel like they were laughing at me. The massage during the pedicure was probably the snappiest I've ever received and mediocre, but I wasn't expecting it to be long or luxurious for that price. I did get hungry smelling all the yummy Chinese food though! * I waited a few days before posting this to see how everything turned out as the previous reviews were so bad. Both my manicure and pedicure still look great. Not a place to really pamper yourself and enjoy a spa-like atmosphere, but I am quite pleased with the end results. read more

Classic Nails is located in midtown Manhattan were rent is very expensive, yet their manicure and pedicure prices are affordable. They are fast paced but efficient. If you have an issue, they are quick to resolve as the customer is their top priority.
