I can name 10 restaurants in the Brandon /Flowood/ Jackson- Metro area that has burgers with more flavor than "the Zip's Burger". The french fries were not well done. They were very soggy actually they were inedible. That's why they were left on the plate. I added salt to each bite of my burger in order to have a little bit of flavor. Yes, it is a real ground beef, hand patty burger, and real potatoes and onion rings, but they are not fried in hot oil . Therefore, they are soggy. The location inside is absolutely filthy.

To get to this location which is on the southeast corner of Highway 80 and 49 in Jackson, Mississippi, turn in like you're entering the Sutherland's Home Improvement store, but then hang a hard right and you'll see it straight ahead. Turn in to the second driveway for their parking lot or drive through. The entrance has a ramp but could be challenging for some people in wheelchairs or who are handicapped. I have some family members who would have difficulty getting in. See the picture I posted for reference, and you can determine if you can get in or need to stick to the drive through. After looking over their menu, I finally decided to get the chicken finger tacos with the chipotle ranch sauce and pico de gallo. They are made with flour tortillas which I found to be rather blah (I'm used to home-made or at least really good flour tortillas in my hometown which is 95% Hispanic). Thankfully, the chicken fingers were generous, hot, and tasty. I would have enjoyed a bit more of the sauce. It was not spicy at all. The pico de gallo was passing. Again, I've had the best elsewhere, so I'm a bit picky. Overall, the food was pretty good. It was a reasonable price. The food was served in styrofoam, disposable containers. The drink station had soft drinks and fresh brewed iced tea. What a great accidental find. Rooster's is absolutely awesome. I had the burger and onion rings and both were damn good. The burger was simple, cooked right, and exactly what a burger should be. The onion rings were thin, crispy, and really good. My daughter got the chicken tenders and they were massive. I mean actually massive. More importantly, they were delicious. The fries were hand cut and just as good. Service was friendly, the place had a cool neighborhood feel, and it filled up fast. Parking is definitely at a premium, so get there early if you can or be prepared to wait a little. This is one of those places we probably would not have found if everything had gone according to plan, and now I'm really glad it didn't.
