Now let me explain why: Kristina came to my rescue for my wedding and I don't know if I ever will be able to properly thank her. I booked my original wedding makeup artist over a year from my wedding. She wouldn't do a trial with me until 3 months from my wedding and after the trial I was incredibly disappointed and worried. I didn't feel confident with this person's capabilities for my wedding and I didn't feel that I was listened to when I voiced my concerns. I have a large, pigmented birthmark on my face that is very difficult to conceal and many makeup artists don't know how to handle it - the original makeup artist certainly didn't know how to conceal it and didn't listen to me after my trial when I said it still was visible to me. I canceled my contract and frantically took a desperate chance and contacted none other than Kristina Makris owner and master makeup artist of Flawless Makeup & Beauty Lounge. I had watched her skills for years when I would go to her studio to get my eyebrows done, however, I never would've thought I could've been lucky enough to have her do my wedding makeup. When I contacted Kristina it was not only THREE months from my wedding and in peak wedding season, but it was over a weekend. Kristina emailed me back the SAME day and said she wanted to help me out and was available. I was stunned! I signed a contract with her and locked my wedding in immediately. Then we booked a trial within a few weeks of signing the contract. My trial was nothing short of perfect. Kristina listened to me and my concerns, she made suggestions and asked questions about the bridal look I wanted, and took a great deal of time with my makeup application. I left feeling the best I ever had about myself and couldn't stop smiling! Before my wedding Kristina was always available to speak to about the wedding day timeline, gave me a spray tan location recommendation, skincare tips and even helped with bridal look suggestions. She was extremely kind, patient and communicative. The day of my wedding Kristina arrived on time, set up all of her makeup and lighting, and set the most calming and peaceful mood for the day. She was in a separate room from my hair stylist and it was so enjoyable to be around Kristina that my normal tense, type-A personality became calm and I was able to be in the moment and enjoy the day. My makeup on my wedding day was nothing short of perfect. I couldn't even believe it was ME when I looked at myself in the mirror. Each of my bridesmaids and my 60-year-old mother looked equally beautiful. They were all extremely happy with their makeup and couldn't stop taking pictures of themselves. She listened to each of them and gave them exactly what they wanted. I was so proud of how stunning my ladies looked. Kristina is a true professional through and through. Her skills are unparalleled. I can't imagine trusting anyone else with my bridal makeup on the most important day of my life. She listened to me and never once minimized my feelings or concerns about my birthmark. She handled everything with kindness and compassion and was such an important part of my wedding day. The staff are native Spanish speaking, however, the woman that helped me knows enough English, with a minor amount of trouble, but she was so very nice and answered so many questions for me. She was so helpful and knows her products very well and told me everything I needed to know to make my purchases and in their use and care, etc.. and the prices were very reasonable to, not too expensive like the larger store nearby. I am new and inexperienced with the use of weave in extensions, so I am very grateful that the sales person was as helpful as she was. If you're looking for human hair extensions, or specialty color dyes for ombre, etc, I highly recommend Vecina and believe you will not be disappointed.

When I first walked in, I was a little confused. There wasn't a receptionist so I just took a seat, someone came over a few minutes later to greet me. I then waited a few more minutes and a woman came and said she was going to wash my hair and I could have a seat at the wash station. A few initial observations - this place is very small. VERY small. They are also VERY busy so all the chairs were occupied with stylist behind them making things very tight. There are two wash bowls in the middle of the salon. I sat and waited. It was a little awkward. I almost wish she had just let me wait in the seating area. I had my hair washed - very relaxing and nice and then I had to go back over to the seating area and wait for my stylist..it was only a couple of minutes. Jess was my stylist and she didn't introduce herself, I only knew her name because when I made the appointment they said it would be with Jess. So needless to say, we were off to a rocky start. I wasn't feeling super welcome or super comfortable. However, once Jess started talking to me and we had a good conversation going, it was very nice. She was very warm and I was happy feeling I was in good hands. Overall, I was happy with my hair cut. I will be back to see Jess. A few notes about the salon. It was very warm (temperature wise) in there. I was sweating..eww. Also, it's very "swampscott-ish" - meaning the other clients walk around like they own the place and I wouldn't go in there and share "what you heard last night over dinner" because I guarantee someone in there knows someone you are talking about. That would be the only reason I wouldn't go back - which is a shame because I did like my hair, I just didn't necessarily love the environment which is not really the fault of the salon.
