We were wandering through a street in desperate search for lunch when one of the waiters at this restaurant offered us a table. Honestly, I was worried about it but I had just given in and sat down. We were immediately greeted with kindness and a menu. We ordered the bread basket which was surprisingly one of the highlights of our meal. It was fresh good bread with olive oil, balsamic, and parmigiana. I ordered the fettuccine bolognese which was rich and lovely. My little brother ordered the polpette (meatballs) which were massive and so good. My parents ordered the lasagna and the tortilini which they were both quite happy with. The service was nice, the restaurant itself was comfortable and inviting, the food was good and the prices were very reasonable for being in such a tourist heavy area. I would absolutely eat here again and would reccomed it.

A welcome surprise that is just outside of Vatican City's walls! Located about a block or so from St. Peter's Basilica, my wife & I discovered Krugh after one of the restaurant staff members coaxed us into coming in. Of course, coaxing is pretty much the marketing tool that restaurants use all over Rome. Given its location (the restaurant is in a long alleyway slightly obscured from the main road), Krugh may be considered as one of Rome's "hidden gems." Upon first impression, the interior decor says "brand new." There are wine racks that are stacked from the floor to the ceiling, and the tables are set up in a manner that is not too close or far away from the others. Makes for a more intimate setting. Food choices vary. I didn't see anything tremendously exceptional that I've experienced in other Rome restaurants, yet we did experience food that was well presented, as well as well cooked. Customer service was excellent, and our entree choices of shrimp ravioli and Penne All' Amatriciana was absolutely superb. As aforementioned with the wine racks, there are plenty of wine choices here. We passed on the wine & other alcohol choices this time, as well as dessert. The water (tap water, which is actually very good) is served in liter-sized portions. Krugh. Sei il massimo!

After a long day walking around the streets of Rome, we decided to stop at the first restaurant we encountered before heading to The Vatican's St. Peter's Basilica. "Ristorante Krugh a Borgo" can be found at the foot of the long street leading up to the Basilica plaza, it has an inviting and spacious interior and more importantly, a very clean restroom which we were also desperately looking for. After browsing the menu and getting a few suggestions from our awesome server, we went with a plate of their house Carbonara and Napoli Pizza (mushroom, anchovies, egg, ham, salame and cheese) with a glass of wine. Food was great of course, pizza was exceptionally well-made and the carbonara ruined all the carbobnaras I've tried in the USA! But what stood out the most for us was just how warm and friendly the staff is, especially our server who even informed us that his wife is (also) Filipina! We still had a large portion of our lunch left over (their serving is that generous) and once again our friendly server made sure to pack our "takeaways" securely for our continued trek and hop-on rides around the city. That short stop at Krugh which afforded us to freshen up and get our energy back from their delicious meal was why our day trip to Rome is more memorable!

Giacomo recommended the rigatoni and it was incredible. The rosemary potatoes, spaghetti meatballs and tortellini were also . Besides that, what an amazing staff

We were looking for a place that was not so "touristy" and this definitely hit the spot. We rolled in with a limited time to eat and were met with pure kindness and hospitality. Myself, my mother, and 2 aunts sat down and ordered a bottle of Chianti (delicious, a 2016). I ordered the special, tuna tartare with burrata, and they got carbonara, ravioli, and bolognese. I'm a nerd for proper service and they were amazing. Clearing between courses, proper wine handling, the whole nine. The food was INCREDIBLE. The pasta was perfectly "al dente", the sauces flavorful. My burrata was so creamy it was like cream cheese. If you're looking for legit Italian hospitality and food, let these folks entertain you. You won't regret it.

Food was delicious! It really was our best meal in Rome and to our surprise in a touristy area.

We made a reservation online, arrived about 20 minutes early, and they gladly sat us right down. While we were there we noticed plenty of locals eating, chatting with the servers in Italian, and having a blast, which is always a green flag. The menu leans traditional Roman; extensive, with plenty of pasta, meats, and fish. The supplì classico and the cacio e pepe one were both phenomenal. We also had the all'amatriciana and carbonara, and both were divine. After a week traveling through Europe, my husband said this was his favorite meal and restaurant of the trip. It was a top one for me too. We also ordered the oxtail; delicious, but I'm not sure I'd get it again since you get two pieces that are mostly bone. I know that's just how oxtail is, but I was expecting a little more. The panna cotta for dessert was a great choice too. Service was fine, nothing to write home about, but honestly I appreciated how rough around the edges it was. They kept it real; don't come expecting fancy restaurant service. This is a place you go to for authentic food and flavors. We sat outside on the sidewalk, great for people watching, though they had plenty of space inside and even multiple floors. Oh, and the house wine was delicious and a great deal. Our entire meal only came to €70, the cheapest dinner we had in Italy. Definitely try it if you're in Rome.

We asked for a table outside and the kind lady asked us if we had a reservation (oh oh). We didn't. No problem as we took our pick of one of the tables. Two levels inside with a small Bar in the back. Before we knew it, outside seating was full and inside also filled up-a good sign. We ordered a liter (ended up being too much but when in Rome...) of their house Red and enjoyed it. For starters, we ordered the Fried Artichokes (thick breading and will order the Roman style with garlic/vinegar next time), fried Zucchini and Suppli-Cacio Pepe. The Suppli was delicious and was enjoyed the most. For main, it was Pasta Carbonara (Guanciale )-Proper carbonara and the streak of not having a bad version of this dish in Rome continues. The sliced Beef with mushrooms was also delicious -super tender and thin pieces of beef (medium rare as requested). We asked if the Tiramisu was house-made. Our server answered, "yes, and I am the one who makes it." How could we not order after that?! One of the best Tiramisus we've had. Perfect balance of coffee dipped lady fingers with cream-delicious! Our Server was kind, attentive and full of hustle -she was covering a lot of ground. Don't miss this Gem if you are in the Prati district.

It's intimate, cozy authentic Italian charm. The staff here are wonderfully kind and welcoming, making an already memorable meal feel even more special. Show up right at opening if you want to secure a table immediately, as this local treasure fills up incredibly fast! We started with the artichoke, which was quite possibly the best artichoke I've ever tasted in my life. Ubelievably tender and served bathed in rich olive oil that elevated every single bite. The Amatriciana was my personal favorite dish of the night, featuring a rich red sauce packed with a subtle kick of heat and finished with a generous dusting of fresh Parmesan. The stuffed chicken was remarkably tender, juicy, and wonderfully seasoned with delicate flavors that don't overpower. Lastly, the lasagna was everything a classic lasagna should be: wonderfully cheesy and deeply comforting, yet light enough that it doesn't weigh you down. Easily one of my favorite dining spots in all of Europe. I already can't wait for the day I get to return again!
