My wife and I have watched you on Saturday mornings and saw some of the advertising and recommendations you give. We decided to take your advise and we checked out Airport Appliance in Redwood City. "Darya Folsom" has been off the news am this week and what a pleasure!!! 4/15/15 We can actually watch the news, remember it is "The News" not a contest to see if she dresses the worst for an on air personality ( Darya, remember your News, not a cocktail party where you are obviously looking for Attention!) Go to the locker rooms where you belong, oh and go with your Radnich buddy, obviously you both are loud and obnoxious, opinionated and a know it all together. It is impressive that KRON exists with no national affiliate but I am SO THANKFUL for this station. I appreciate the diversity of the news team. It's like what you'd see in the Bay Area. The only reason for the 4 stars is NOT the raw production style, but rather the choice in gatekeeping. With no national affiliate, it seems they could really harness that freedom to branch out and cover issues that the other stations AREN'T covering. Would it be so radical to cover the FCC's loosening of ownership regulations? I can't think of other examples of newsworthy information because I've been watching too much news! I am a news hound. I watch news on all the stations and all too often the exact same stories are repeated on all the stations. Instead of repeating the same stories every 1/4 hour, I'd like to see some attention to some stories that the nationals WON'T cover. Impress me. I'm watching! read more

I feel incomplete if I don't get to watch/listen to the morning news on this station each workday morning. KRON 4 has by far the best traffic maps - I hate that the OTHER station has little red and green car shapes that move in 3D - LAME. KRON has simple and easy-on-the-eye red, green and yellow dotted lines. Not only that but the weathermen are all very good and spot on! And all are names Mark - props on that! Honestly though, I find Darya soooo annoying. She can't seem to contain herself sometimes - I want to reach in and pour her decaf or shove a Ritalin down her throat. I also find Jan Wahl and that chick that they send out in the mornings with a camera who is so awful at interviewing people - can't remember her name - very annoying. I love Chris Murphy and Teo. I also love that there is so little news in SF. What I mean is, on the KRON 4 morning news they repeat everything in 10 minute increments. Including weather & traffic like every 2 minutes - but that is what you should expect with local morning news! So if I need to make an egg or blow dry my hair I know I won't miss anything bc it will be on again in 8 minutes! Ok here goes! My wife and I wake up every morning and crack up watching the "KRON Team" GOD LOVE YA! haha! The morning news team literally makes us crack up as we watch from bed before starting our day. Annoying? Yes... just sometimes. The goofy, silly mistakes! The lousy reporting? Will Tran "on scene" showing that American airlines board again, and again, being almost empty as breaking news?! (Will? it's American Airlines!) HAHA! Then there's Darrhea? KRON has had 7 years to find a new identity since losing their NBC affiliation to KNTV(!), Well...if placing all your bets on a million hours of news per day, Henry Tenenbaum shows, and infomercials is the battle plan, better haul out the white flag. They have reassigned their news reporters the new job title of "VJs". No, not "Video Jockeys" like in the MTV of old, before it started sucking; VJS as in "Video Journalists". And when I say "Video Journalists" I mean "reporter/camera person/editor". This is also known as cheapskate bosses getting the work of 3 out of 1. Although KRON airs MyNetworkTV programming, they start it WAY too late, at 9:00pm. For a fledgling affiliation, one would think they would put it on earlier. They don't however, because they gotta make room for, you got it, more news (as an aside, MyNetworkTV is a curious and rag-tag assortment of programming isn't it?). To top it all off, the sound level fluctuates terribly. MyNetworkTV is too low, commercials are too loud, and the station promos will blast the unsuspecting thru the ceiling. Many years ago, KRON 4 used to be one of the better news stations to watch in the San Francisco Bay Area. But ever since they lost their NBC affiliation to KNTV way back in 2002, they have absolutely gone downhill, with no sign of recovering or improving. I do not like their one-man video journalist (VJ) method and the long hours of newscasts do not really help their cause whatsoever. The quality of their news has absolutely suffered over the years, and it wouldn't surprise me if their station goes defunct sometime down the road. read more

It is really quite bad. Saturday mornings I somehow seem to turn it on and cannot get to the TV to turn it off fast enough. I know dude has been there FOR YEARS, but I just cannot help it... I don't give a damn about deals. The news in the morning goes longer than other stations, and isn't some awful morning show or talk show. Ugh. So thanks for that, real news, and interesting topics. It still has a high school production level, and I don't dig on the informercial epicness that they unfurl on us. Woe, we have some of the worse newscasters around. Why can't more intelligent reporters be put on TV instead of personality-types. I remember a few yrs ago when the newspapers reported what these newcasters made. You can imagine my shock when I found out Ms. D. Folsom made over 250K! This was a few years ago, can you imagine what she makes now?? That's for standing in front of the TV and giggling her cutesy way and bantering in the AMs with Gary Radnich who sounds like he just crawled out of bed on the phone to give us his uncensored opinonated opinions on everything, even topics he knows nothing about. Even worse, you get to see his ruddy face in the evenings, talking loudly, as if he was at a bar. You see, I had to turn on the TV to catch glimpses of the Iraqi reporter who threw his shoes at Pres. Du-ba-ya Bush. I laughed really hard the first time I saw it because he reminded me of my Mii on WiiFit trying to dodge those soccer balls, swaying side-to-side. All I can say is that I don't want that Iraqi reporter as my quarterback. Not only did he miss once, he missed TWICE! Of course, they replay it a million times and the novelty quickly dissipates. read more

The five stars is for the news team (not the afternoon infomercials or PM telenovelas). Nothing gets me out of bed like a cup of coffee and a little KRON 4 morning news. While the rest of the world has their Stepford Wife anchors reciting the world's tragedies like robots on Valium, the KRON 4 news team is dishing out the goods like your best friend would. They can handle the hard-hitting news like the best of 'em, but what I love about this team is that they aren't afraid to be real and make a mistake. There always seems to be an inside joke going on among the staff. Of course, you never know what Gary Radnich is going to say. Chris Murphy is a total cutie. Stanley Roberts kicks butt with his "People Behaving Badly" series. On the weekends, Ysabel and Marty tell it like it is. Then, of course, there's Darya, who can make any slip up look like a goofy quirk to her personality. Of course, anyone who rocks DVF's on a regular basis can do or say whatever they want in my book. And if you want to watch Bay to Breakers from the comfort of your own home, it has to be on KRON 4. Their coverage of that event is probably the closest thing to us viewers attending their annual Christmas Party. Watch out! read more

I love all the anchors on this station. I'm not sure why everyone is hating on Darya so much. I think she's upbeat and definitely dances to the beat of her own drum. She doesn't need to do anything because of her age. She can do whatever she wants. What is wrong with people? Just because you feel the need to change yourself because of what "society" thinks is ridiculous. Being born and raised in San Francisco it's sad to see people so judgmental. San Francisco was once a safe haven for anyone who didn't fit in anywhere else. Why would you want someone who looks bored while doing their job? They have fun doing their job unlike a lot of people in the world. Obviously the people that complained watched enough of Kron 4 to know the crew. Why not just switch stations instead of insulting people? The internet has enough negativity we don't need more of it. Anyways, I always find them entertaining in the morning and appreciate their upbeat attitudes. Jackie Sissel is definitely a favorite of mine though. He's great always reporting out in the field. Gary Radnich just tells it how it is. Not everyone comes off as nice, but I feel Gary doesn't mean any harm. I also appreciate the surprise visit from the spider on the traffic cam. This review is only about the KRON morning news. I don't know why there are so many harsh reviews here, but I just can't imagine starting the morning without KRON morning news. I first started watching years ago when Chris Murphy, morning anchor, caught my eye (he's hot) ... but he's since left, but I kept watching. Now Daria's the anchor, I like her fine, even tho others complain about it I really don't care what her attire is ... I like her because she gets so excited about the news. I love her commenting on the news because she will always say what I'm already thinking. Mark Dannon on weather is cool, George Rask, (I like that he reminds me of Norm on CHEERS), he definitely knows his Traffic. And the invisible Jackie Sissel whose voice you hear but never see him. Will Tran's out-on-the-street reporting is cool, he asks all the right questions. And then there's Stanley Roberts and "People Behaving Badly". What's not to like about this? It's gotta be my favorite segment. And Jan Wahl, whenever she is on, is a totally classy lady. My least favorite segments are the infomercials but what the hey, I can go get my coffee refilled while those are on. read more

Kron 4 is my go to station for news. Pam and Catherine both are professional and pleasant to watch and listen to. Not a big fan of Gary. Too rude to his fellow peers. I saw him couple times verbally attacking Grant. Not nice. I like Grant, he is so pleasant to look and listen to. Stanley Roberts is one great journalist. His reporting is often involved with some danger incidents or people. But thanks for his reporting, I know what to watch out! I work from home and this is what's on in the morning so I have no choice.... Where do they get these anchor people? Leftover non--hires from a McDonald's job fair? It's nearly painful to hear them talk. The one main anchor girl talks and acts like she's methed out or something. I think they found someone from the ghetto to run a camcorder and go out to where there's breaking news, like a car crash or a PG&E fire or something, where she blathers on and on in ebonics about what she sees. The only way to watch news in the AM! Love the whole morning crew. Keep up the good work everyone

If you are an advertiser on this station a heads up to you.... I often arise very early in the AM and today no KRON 4 News on air at 4 AM, then not at 5 AM, then not at 6AM and now it is 6:30 AM and no on air signals from KRON 4. Yes you can see the news if you go on line to their stream they are still there - I suppose they are on cable. Since I think as little of the cable company as I do of KRON 4 - I don't have cable. If you are paying for broadcast advertising it seems your message is not getting out to all of the people you think are watching KRON 4 as there is no signal from the tower. I just re scanned my bedroom TV and still no signal. This is not the first time I've noticed this and I don't get up early if I don't have to so this may be more common that I've seen... While I'm talking about KRON it also bothers me when you look at the 24 hour weather channel and see the current temperature on the main screen does not match the current temperature on the banner so which one is right? Any station with so many shortcomings and missteps makes me wonder how accurate their news stores are to being with? Please see my prior comments for more comical behavior from KRON. At one time long ago KRON was one of the best stations around but when NBC was outbid to buy KRON the new owners gutted it... Steve Aveson --- good god, what a creepy sounding voice, all breathy like he's constantly making an obscene phone call. Darya Folsom --- completely unprofessional bimbo, looks like a methed-out chipmunk with fake boobs and spastically delivers the news like a 12 year old girl about to wet her undies. Grant Lodes --- what a dweeb, has the look of a 5 year old kid who just made an unpleasant smell and is hoping you don't notice it. He acts like he thinks he's real cool, he's not. Hermela Aregawi --- terrible delivery, like a 12 year old girl telling you about her whole day at school from the back seat, every frickin' syllable is emphasized, no modulation or measured inflection. Anny Hong --- could she get a more annoyingly nasal drone? Automatic mute when she comes on. Gary Radnich --- a crusty old turd who thinks he's cute like the drunk grandpa at Christmas who hugs the kids a little too long; he needs to be put out to pasture. But KRON's not all bad - Pam Moore's great, Robin Winston's as cute as can be, James Fletcher is fine, Stanley Roberts is amusing, J.R. Stone is fun, I love Jeff Pierce's super serious tone, and Gabe Slate, Terisa Estacio, Alecia Reid, Dan Kerman, Rob Black are all good, etc. read more

As a journalism graduate let me say that weather is not news. If the weather is going to be the same as yesterday then just say that and don't spend so much time on it. I don't need to go through the map and see all the temperatures, just say, "Same as yesterday everywhere." I don't care whatthe weather is in the rest of America, there is the Weather Channel for that. KRON4 needs to concentrate more n breaking news. There are a lot of fires and police drama going on and I would rather hear about that. A lot of times I am somewhere that drama is going down and it never makes the news. Industrial accidents, fires, police in riot gear, and no word of it on KRON 4. You turn to KRON 4 and they are covering some hot air balloon event because one air balloon is in the shape or Darth Vader and then they spend the rest of the show talking about Barry Bonds and steroids, blah blah blah. HOWEVER, people get what people want. And people want crap so they get it. So I can't blame KRON 4 for letting their news become infotainment. I do love SF and I love any sort of tv show related to SF so I do enjoy KRON 4. But sometimes I get upset because they don't do a good enough job reporting the real news. If traffic is fine everywhere just say so, I don't need to see 8 different camera views. I trust you, you don't have to show me the camera views after you told me that traffic is rolling smoothly. When I typed in kron4 on Google, the description I get for KRON is "News, weather, sports, community events, programming schedule, and traffic." It's more like Traffic, weather, sports, programming schedule, community events and a pinch of news....mostly very repetitive news that doesn't go into ANY depth at all. Kron 4 bizarrely includes an informercial smack-dab in the middle of its news broadcast- using its actual "journalists" as paid shills to "interview" these companies that are paying for the time. I used to watch kron and thought Darya was kinda cute in a weird way. But now she is just so full of herself and always seems to be posing showing off her big fake ta ta's. I recently decided to ditch cable and am generally pleased with the overall good reception. The main exception is the abysmal signal from KRON. It's especially weird because I live about three miles from Sutro Tower and can actually see the tramsmitter tower when I look out my living room window. Kron 4 use to be my only news station since I moved to the Bay area in "91". I have to say I have changed the channel to 2 or 7 because 4 has to many of the repetitive and pointless info news segmants on windows, plastic surgery... during the news program, instead of changing the channel every time they come on I just watch the other guys... KRON 4 is the best cheesy local news station the Bay Area has to offer. I don't know what it is, but I love low-budget news. It's not always my first choice, but sometimes I need a break from the preppy mainstream anchors and KRON 4 calls me back to it's poor screen graphics bosom. 4 stars for KRON 4 not just for matching-sake, but because they honestly do have damn good local coverage sometimes. In spite of the cheese factor. Breaking from corporate news affiliation is a two-sided coin, you see. Side one, the aforementioned low budget thing. Side two, the ability to not have to stick to national corporate crafted news format and timing. This often enables the newscasts to go into so much more depth about a given local topic than, oh let's just say, NBC might allow a local affiliate station. Then again, the anchors can be prone to strange rambling and bad jokes. It's the price we pay for independent-ish news. read more

I had the epic and terrifying experience of being on live TV for 15 minutes while being interviewed by Vicki Liviakis. Thanks to Vicki it went OK. Vicki is such a skilled professional and sweet person and talented anchor. She has been a great part of news in the bay area for many years and I am a big fan. Thank you Vicki. I will say that last Sunday night I was watching the sports and the sports anchor couldn't pronounce the name of the Dolphins coach and then started giggling because his name is similar to Tony Saprano's name.
