KRON 4 - Watching a live in studio newscast

I probably went for 10 years not watching or reading the news. This guy got stabbed - that lady had…read moreher kitty saved by firefighters. IDK there is a lot of stuff I don't want to know. You can watch Vice or Democracy Now... CNN. Drama TV. I suppose its most important that you realize its mostly for entertainment purposes. Too much bad news out there. I would recommend to read the good news.

For approximately a week recently, I turned on KRON 4 News in the a.m., and watched for a few days…read morein a row. There were 4 talents I enjoyed during that time... James Fletcher, Noelle Bellow, and especially John Shrable and Reyna Harvey. The latter two are cute, they seem to have an endearing rapport during the weather/traffic segment. Watching all of the pre-mentioned "four" was positive that week, a nurturing experience while sipping morning coffee, so I decided to make KRON 4 morning news a daily occurrence. That is, until Michael Thomas showed up. Last Friday I believe it was, he got frisky with that one blond male anchor/reporter who sat next to him... I cringed when Thomas placed his paw on the other's shoulder while Thomas made one of his exaggerated points. Then, after a commercial break, it appeared the blond guy scooted as far away from Thomas in his seat as he could to create space... if all this really occurred and wasn't my imagination, I don't blame him. Michael Thomas is hideous to look at and listen to, a caricature of himself. I wouldn't watch him anymore than I'd watch RuPaul. Thus, I have decided not to view KRON 4 morning news after all. So to all you woke KRON 4 fans, if you wish to say good riddance to the likes of me, then perhaps you should consider good ratings instead. *** Update: I dared to tune into KRON 4 this a.m., and the Fab Four are back. James, Noelle, John and Reyna. Yay! ***

I've been meaning to leave a review for a while.. just want to say that Sara Donchey is absolutely…read morefantastic. She does so many interesting local profiles and stories. She is an anchor who makes you realize how much skill it takes to do live television really, really well. She is so articulate and quick on her feet. She's listening and processing in real time, and has organic follow-up questions - doesn't feel rigid and scripted. Her abilities are also especially noticeable during breaking news coverage and live interviews I've seen her do. She's genuinely engaged and pulls me in. She has presence, but she doesn't make the stories about herself. Also, her background is awesome! She is an SF State journalism grad who started at KPIX as a production assistant and worked her way up through newsrooms around the country before coming back to anchor in San Francisco. She's covered major events like Hurricane Harvey, the Dallas police shooting, and the San Bernardino terrorist attack. This is probably why when something unexpected happens on air she doesn't look rattled, always rolls with it. Thank you KPIX for supporting awesome, smart, confident, badass women with command at the anchor desk and in the community.

I watched KPIX Ch5 news in the evening of Dec 25…read more The heavy rain and strong winds made headlines, so I wanted to see the news reports. Darren Peck provides way too much detailed information. It's nice to know all that about weather tracking and new storms forming, but his report ran too long. I think his 2nd weather report was nearly 10-minutes in duration. Also, the way that he's walking across the map is annoying. Go back to just pointing, instead of standing on map. After about 25-mins, I switched to another station.

With the first televised game at the new Chase Center, NBC Bay Area Sports needs to up their game. Throughout the telecast, they actually think this pre-season game counts. The Warriors close a 20 something point deficit and they comment about a comeback? This duo sound like overzealous Little League T-Ball parents. Azubuike played four seasons with the Warriors (2006-10)? Can't recall him. Jim Barnett, the veteran announcer, is going to be moving over to the radio coverage. I'm going to turn off the TV sound and turn on the radio or watch on NBATV!

The way you frame a story can make all the difference - I knew a lot about the specific subject and could see immediately that there were missing pieces to the puzzle. The piece in question was three minutes and fifty six seconds. I dug like a gopher to see more about the same story. ABC 7 had a story that was eight minutes and nineteen seconds and was a great piece of investigative reporting. It went in depth and put forth facts - was less about coming to ridiculous conclusions without finding experts to talk of the subject first. I then researched the specific issues in question and got firsthand data on the event. Within ten minutes of my own investigation I saw how lots of facts were left out - facts that make the mysterious element of the story seem more clear. I usually find the news comical in how witnesses give their personal opinions of random events. Usually its a clear issue or event to speak of and for dramatic effect they show some witness that looks good on camera - but the piece I saw was so wrong - even if they had obvious time constraints in their length of the story. The piece NBC put forth was shameful. I believe it was successful in doing what it was designed to do - get attention.

Since they moved into the ABC7 building, I no longer get them over the air. This is because I've never been able to get ABC7 over the air. This is a common issue that most people in the Bay Area have. The only way I can get KOFY is by using locast. This isn't an issue with KOFY specifically however. I have a hard time getting KPIX as well. That's because of the spectrum change that happened earlier this year (with sutro tower). I can get it in my bedroom, but not my living room. I hope they plan to make new episodes of Dance Party once the pandemic is over.

Or other variety programs that were on their station plus the replays of ABC7 news in the evenings. I think the programming management is doing a bad thing as they can easily broadcast this channel on a digital sub channel and still keep the main station. My husband also is already not happy with this change. What was a good thing is now a bad and I don't think I would watch Western's programming 24 hours a day. MeTV, Antenna TV and Movies TV are all broadcast on sub channels without an impact to the main channels. Hell, Kron 4 can be generic with their programming at times with shows at night and so forth but at least they are still there! So good bye Kofy TV. We will miss you and even the cute local commercials featuring the dogs. At least Chabot College is airing Creature Features now and it sucks no more Dance Party.
